It has dove tail drawers, clam shell carved into the center drawer in the base and the very top of the cabinet, flame mahogany finials on all three finials, heavy crown molded extra deep top with bonnet sides and original brass Chippendale style hardware including knobs on the clam shell drawers. The two-piece cabinet rests on four cabriole ball and claw legs with a scallop bottom skirt. It is in a dark reddish brown stain finish with minor nicks and dings. The overall size is 39.

The chair shown is offered elsewhere in our collection Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably preserved English Chippendale Period Kneehole Desk. Circa 1740-50. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk, just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware adorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. This is a unique addition for the craftsman to make, as many of these knee hole desks are without such innovations. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. It has wonderful crotch mahogany matched veneers on its drawer fronts. The largest and top drawer also has banding. The three bottom drawers are flanked with two beautifully carved columns ending on a platform with hairy carved claw or paw feet. On the very top is a step-back with three small drawers. It has original and period brass hardware. This dresser is all original including finish. Top board is is 23 1/2" x48 1/2" Sides have 19 1/2" wide boards 7 drawers: 3 over 4 12 glass pulls Top drawers has a veneer band around the edges. Hairy carved lion paw feet. Fine dovetail drawers open smoothly. In great condition for the age. Back boards need to be better secured. I am not certain about the origins of this desk but it is beautiful. The only flaws are 1. The brass rail on the top is just sitting there and needs to be glued down. And 2. There are some minor scratches. See the pictures for details on both. I am not sure about the age, who made it or what wood it is made from, but it looks like mahogany. This is a lovely Federal Era mahogany dresser. I believe this to be a period piece. It is constructed of mahogany with contrasting veneers. The bottom board of the drawers have a chamfered edge to fit into the drawer slots as well as hand dovetailing. The veneer does have some cracking around the edges as shown in pictures but in overall good condition for the age of the piece. Also pictured is a repair to the mirror frame that seems to have been done a long time ago. It is a very good repair in respect to the strength. It does not feel loose at all. Lastly. It also looks as if the mirror frame was burned by a candle at some point. I have tried to show all of this in the photos as to accurately depict. Here we have a very Rare Empire Dresser for your consideration. This is a very fine Wishbone Mirrored Dresser with side wig curio cabinets. These dressers have always been the Cadilac of Empire Dressers. But this one is one of the finest we have ever seen. The burled or Flame Mahogany is fantastic. The colors are just beautiful. We do not have the exact history. But the party we bought the dresser from, told us that this dresser was saved in Katrina from the Huricane in New Orleans. It was transported north and sold to raise money for the people who once owned it there. We bought it from the next party who purchased it. The dresser is of such fine quality, and has all original parts. The only thing it may need is some new screws in the back when the wig cabinets mount. At the moment it is all assembled and they were not needed. But when the ... moredresser comes to its new home, that is one addition we would suggest is new screws in the back area. The wood on every side is pristine on this piece. The only thing you would find is normal wear from a dresser of such a grand age. All that is needed is a nice polish and this piece is ready to set up and be displayed with pride. The dresser is 77" tall by 43" wide by 21" deep. The mirror attaches on each curio side with wooden screws and original knobs. The drawer fronts have the carving at the top and bottoms and the matched grain of the wood is outstanding. This piece could be by the famous cabinet maker Thomas Day. As even the sides of the dresser have fantastic matched graining. The hand made dove tails and brass locks, are all top notch and fine quality. The marble top inset is beautiful thick Italian Marble with nice grain and detail. There are no chips, nor cracks on the marble. It could use a polish from a marble professional. But the patina and wear only adds charactor to the piece. Antique 1916 Mahogany Dresser / Dressing Table / Vanity with Mirror
THIS ITEM IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP IN IRWIN. PA 15642 ONLY. NO SHIPPING. Antique vanity/ dresser/ dressing table with mirror. The finish is a dark brown. As shown in the pictures. The facing is missing in a couple places. The mirror has two side mirrors that fold in and out. It has 5 drawers; each drawer has a lock mechanism that looks like it accepts the old style skeleton keys, but I don't have a key for it. The size is about 20 inches deep, 44 inches wide, and 59 inches high. Although I can't tell what they mean, there are several markings on it. Stamped into the wood on the back are the numbers 4474 and 57. 4474 seems like it was important to the manufacturer, because it is in 3 separate places. The mirror is very delicately attached to the dresser. I took the wooden back panel off the mirror to see how it was attached and figure out ... morehow to make it more sturdy, and discovered that the back of the mirror is stenciled with the date June 13, 1916 and an"N" and a"P" which may be the mirror manufacturer's logo. On the inside of the wooden back panel are the words"4474 Mahogany" hand written in cursive pencil. The number"48-88" is stenciled inside the back panel also. 4474 Mahogany Toilet" is also hand written in pencil inside one of the left hand drawers, along with what looks to be the"48-88" again. I looked online but couldn't find information on what these numbers mean or where the vanity came from(or how much it's really worth) I also don't know if"Mahogany" is meant to be the color of the finish, or the type of wood it's made of. The mirror doesn't come off for transportation. It is attached only with 4 screws through the wood mirror frame into the desk part. Which is why the center mirror rocks back and forth a little when the vanity is moved. It could be braced more securely but I don't want to put more screws into it, the new owner can do that.
