This fine period table measures 29 inches in height. 34 1/2 inches wide by 34 1/2 inches deep and weighs approximately 95 lbs. The flamed mahogany and period details on this table are just splendid. This period table offers its original beveled edge white and grey veined shaped marble top that's in fine antique condition with appropriate age and character marks as common with old marble.After all this table is approximately 170 years old. There are a couple of rim chips on the underside edge of the marble where it rests on the base.see close-up pictures. The marble rests on a conforming flamed mahogany table apron and is raised up on a substantial flamed tapered pedestal and rests on a shaped platform with four out-swept carved legs and brass casters intact on all four feet. Offering this rare American Empire Gothic Cheval Mirror in todays Auction. Very impressive in size and stature at seven feet tall. Entire surface is crotch mahogany. Gothic influence with the Arch top. A row of ribbon molding across the bottom. Fond in NY and probably made by Meeks. This is a period piece from the 1830s or 40s. French Empire Mahogany Marble Top Commode Chest Dresser with Gilt Mounts c. 1805

Description: This listing is for a 19th Century French Empire Period Mahogany Marble Top Ormolu Mounted Commode. Circa 1805. It is a fascinating work of art, constructed in three parts- first the marble, which is extremely heavy at just over an inch thick(1 1/16" thick) the top of the chest with the top drawer, and the bottom of the chest with the lower three drawers. Lifting the marble reveals the construction of the topmost portion. Each of the front corners with a full gallery of hand cut dovetails that lock the top into the thick corners. All of the secondaries are solid oak, joined with large pegged tenons along the frame, this large thick top joining the lower case with thick through-tenon wedged mortise joints- by ... morepulling out the wedge, the tenon drops out of the top portion, freeing it from the lower case. This lifts away from the case as long as the columns are not nailed at the top. The top drawer features the most incredible gilt ormolu mounts. Cast with stunning attention to even the smallest detail. Horizontal curled anthemions flank a seated angel, inscribing in a blank scroll. With wings furled behind, detailed even down to the tiniest feather, the angel rests with legs slightly bent as the robe flows from his legs, a trumpet peering out from behind him. Over either columnar support, gilt ormolu mounts of angels flank the top drawer, the figure on the right peering towards the sky with a globe behind him, the angel on the left sitting on a carefully crafted French Empire chair reading a scroll. The turned columns on either side rest on square plinths. Capped at the top and bottom with gold gilt flamed mounts, finely detailed throughout. Three drawers slide in and out of the case, each hand dovetailed front and back with solid oak secondary woods making up the frame and bottoms. Boston, MA" The Paine Furniture Company was founded in Boston. Ma in 1835 by Leonard Shearer. In 1835 Boston was a small city, but the furniture industry was rapidly growing and in 1872 Shearer opened an huge Paine Furniture Co. Furniture Center. By 1914 Paine Furniture was operating from a ten-story showroom and factory. This fine blanket chest is executed in mahogany with a wonderful cedar lining that offers a lift out cedar tray. This large chest offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities and features full ebonized Corinthian columns with gold accents at the top and base. Scroll front feet and ball back feet with the original casters intact all ... moreon four feet. This chest measures 28 3/4 inches in height.46 inches wide and 21 inches deep and weighs approximately 75 lbs. The lift our cedar tray measures 40 inches long,16 inches wide and 3 inches deep and features cut-out handles on each end. There are some veneer chips here and there on the lid edge and feet. The top does show surface scratches and a dark ring. Lock is intact but we do not have the key. On the inside of the lid by the lock there is additional wear and scratches around the brass lock and small metal braces have been added at some point in time to the right inside back corner. This chest is a wonderful piece to place at the foot of a bed for storage of blankets and linens and is solid and sturdy enough to be a seating area as well and offers substantial storage with classic style. Porcelain dial surrounded with engine turned brass of high relief floral. Cornucopia, and urn motif. Eight day. Three train, quarter hour strike with crown verge escapement. First of all this piece stands 48 high x 43 wide x 21 deep This piece is heads and shoulders above any other"Butler's desks" that I and others have personally even. The piece id very old, early 1800's when the holes for the hardware were carved in, and the other tool markings are just as primitive, although the workmanship is fantastic. On this piece, the veneer is all in really great shape! Ther'es no\bubbling, or chipping like you would see in much later pieces. even veneer piece made as late as the 1970's have shown tremendous damage from wear ... moreor even daily polishing. The set up for this piece is like this; Two side by side drawers across the very top, then, one single oversized drawer front, which opens and"drops down" to act as a writing surface, by first pulling the entire panel straight out like a drawer, then pressing both buttons in on the spring loaded latch located on both ends of the panel) exposing all the little compartments and drawers inside, and the backside of the front panel which drops down has a soft, recessed fabric on it for writing which has been left in the original worn condition for the antique value. wonderful antique empire period mahogany liquor cabinet claw feet ice chest etc.
for auction is a great antique empire liquor cabinet with very nice claw feet. it is mahogany with wonderful grain. it appears to be in original finish and the piece is in near mint condition. no real issues or damage or wear to report. the copper mixing table has a few stains which are to be expected from age and use. it stands 54 inches tall. It is 16.5 inches deep at the feet which is the deepest point, the lower cabinet is 14 inches deep and the upper cabinet which is a step back is 10 inches deep. the piece is 23.5 inches wide. the upper portions has the original lock, pull and key and the inside has a copper mixing table which pulls out. it also has a small upper shelve for shot glasses i suppose. the lower portion has a recipe drawer, an ice chest, and compartment with a lazy susan which holds glasses or that is what is in it now, ... moreand a lower compartment with a bottle holding shelf with cut outs to keep the bottles from moving around etc. i think this shelve has been replaced as the cut outs are not as perfect as i would expect them to be. it could be original and someone enlarged the holes at a later date. it sits on 4 casters and rolls like a wagon. the bottom doors are curved and have the original hardware, lock, pull, and key. the same key works both the top and bottom cabinets. someone has written me on another listing i have and told me that my pictures are abysmal which i think means that they are really sucky. i returned his email and agreed with him 100 percent. my pictures are always bad, but it is usually really late at night before i ever get the time to list anything. i doubt that there is a nicer antique liquor cabinet listed on ebay, i haven't looked lately. i am sure some of them are much less than this one, but i expect that they are worth much less. this is a far above average liquor cabinet presented in very nice condition. i sold an arts and craft one a few months ago for 2500.00, i like this one much better. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good

EMPIRE CHAVEL ~ Mahogany Dressing Mirror ~ Empire Period ~ Circa 1830- 1840 This is an Empire cheval that dates between 1830& 1840. It is mahogany and has side knobs which control the angle of tilt one wants it to adjust to. It has the original finish and would be lit up by means of two candles which adjust on brass arms. One candle cup is missing but there's always the possibility of adapting another if found as the arm is threaded and it would simply screw in) Piece measures 65" high x 36" wide from knob to knob and the glass measures 23" x 43" The original glass has some haze and spotting when one looks closely but presents well and certainly doesn't detract from a piece that is over 180+ years old. There is an age crack on base between columns(see photo of base) Listed price is half what this would sell ... morefor in an antiques shop. We purchased this in Hadley. MA back in 1987 and brought it home in our car. It does dis-assemble so that the columns come off, the mirror is by itself, and the base is one piece. Pictured here is an exceptionally fine C. 1820 New York 4 drawer miniature chest in excellent condition. It has been refinished to show the vibrant crotch mahogany and curly maple grains. Other than a couple of very minor veneer patches. The chest looks very much the way it did when it was made. The cotter pinned hardware is fire gilt and original. The drawers are dovetailed and the bottoms are champhered. The woods are mahogany and some poplar as secondary wood. Dimensions are 15 1/2" wide. 9 1/2" deep, and 17" tall. The top drawer. Which is veneered curly maple. Was probably intended as a secret drawer but the catch for the bottom is missing. It could easily be repaired. Being offered for sale is this Monumental American Empire Mahogany& Crotch Mahogany Dresser/ vanity with large Carved Paw Feet circa 1880's. This is a huge beautiful 19th century dresser that offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities with all the drawers in crotch mahogany with the original glass pulls. The original crotch mahogany framed beveled dressing mirror with powerful S scroll mirror supports and carved Paw Feet with hidden casters intact on the feet and we believe this piece to also have its original finish. This outstanding Empire dresser measures 73 inches in height from the floor to the top of the mirror. Height to the sides from the floor measures 45 inches, height from the floor to the drop center portion measures 17 1/4 inches, total width of the dresser is 69 inches, total depth of 23 1/2 inches and weighs ... moreapproximately 200 lbs. The original beveled mirror measures 41 1/4 inches high by 24 1/2 inches wide. This dresser does disassemble into 7 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. All of the locks are intact on this piece but we do not have the key. The original beveled mirror does show some streaking and spotting as common in antique mirrors. And the mirror does pivot front to back to adjust for viewing. Veneers became popular in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as an economical way to adorn furniture with rare and expensive woods. Thin layers of individual wood patterns are cut and glued to a less expensive core. The first veneers were hand cut and fairly thick. Up to 1/8 inch. Later, skilled woodworkers learned to cut paper-thin veneers in a variety of ways to achieve artistic patterns with which to decorate furniture surfaces. Being offered for sale is this matched pair of Classic American Empire Crotch Mahogany Fireside Settees circa 1850. These 19th century settees are easliy found in pairs. These settees eacf feature a triple serpentine crestrail. Button& tufted back and arms with crotch mahogany arm supports and a serpentine seat rail with period mahogany ribbon trim. Each settee measures 29 3/4 inches in height from the floor to the top of the back center. With a total length of 66 inches, seat width of 46 inches and seat depth of 16 inches, with a total depth from front to back of 24 inches and seat height to the floor measures 7 inches, with each settee weighing approximately 85 lbs. These settees both have vintage deep rose velvet fabric with matching gimp trim thats not torn or ripped but could use cleaning. The glossy finish is in very fine condition with warm patina. There is some crazing and irregularities in the book matched figured grain. As is typical for antique"character" as shown. Strong and tight. The frame is gracefully curved. Recent upholstery is a European design of the period, including bolsters.
