Being offered for sale is this lovely Classic American Empire Feathered Mahogany Marble Top Side Cabinet with Shaped Backsplash circa 1860. This splendid 19th century cabinet is a very nice size that would allow it to be utilized in about any room of your home. This cabinet features its original thick marble top. Gorgeous feathered mahogany on the backsplash and front with early hand-cut dove-tailed end on the drawer. This cabinet measures 41 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the back-splash. Height from the floor to the top of the marble measures 36 3/4 inches, this cabinet is 34 3/4 inches wide and 19 1/2 inches in depth and weighs approximately 100 lbs total. This cabinet offers a wonderful storage drawer with an ogee front of feather mahogany and the cabinet doors below feature the same beautiful feathered mahogany. The ... morelocks are intact on the drawer and the doors but we do not have the key. The original marble top is in wonderful antique condition but does show some discoloration and marks of character.Age and usage as common in antique marble, please see pictures. We have acquired the main body of the all the important furniture that graced this intact early 18th century estate. This offering is for an amazing heavily flame mahogany grain two drawer drop leaf on convexed eight sided tapered column leading to a four sided base standing on graceful Ogee Elephant feet. This fine work table is in wonderful condition only having some typical veneer loses around some of the Ogee feet's side profiles from crotched veneer flaking with almost 200 years of New England climate changes(an issue our woodworker will expertly address prior to this piece leaving ... moreour shop) and a slight warping to its top. It has a solid mahogany top and side panels with a crotched mahogany cabinet facing. Short drop finials on the base of each four corners of the work table, a tapered column, base convexed profiled platform standing on bun feet and fine original caster wheels. This piece is in an untouched original condition. It comes right out of a wonderful Rhode Island estate of which we have acquired almost all of its original furniture. This is a really nice heavy piece. It is hand carved from solid mahogany, no veneer here. It is a claw foot but the claws are very unusual, I have never seen one like this. This is considered a"fine antique" and not something that you will find in your local antique mall. All I have done to it is clean it up and put on a nice coat of linseed oil which really brings out the rich red mahogany color. I have no way to ship large items. EMPIRE FLAMED AND CROTCHED MAHOGANY SECRETARY CIRCA 1860-1880
Beautifully refinished empire mahogany secretary circa 1860-1880. The secretary is made in two parts for easy transport. The overall measurements are 81 1/2" high(good for 8' ceiling homes) 46" wide at the top crown molding and 44 1/2" wide at the door area, and 18 1/2" deep at the bottom. The top section measures 46" wide and 11" deep. It has two glass doors that are 31 1/2" high and 19 3/4" wide. There is a lock in the top door but I do not have the key. Ther are two fixed shelves for displaying. The bottom section measures 37" high and 39 1/2" wide. The bottom section starts with two small drawers that are 16" wide and 4" high. Below that is the writing drop section. This measures 40 3/4" wide and 18" deep. The writing surface leather has not been replaced. After ... morethe drop section are three storage drawers. The first drawer is 5 1/4" high x 34" wide. The two bottom drawers are large good for storage. These are 9" high x 34" wide. Being offered for sale is this American Empire Mahogany& Crotch Mahogany Chest with Mirror with large Carved Paw Feet circa 1880's. This is a large beautiful 19th century chest that offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities with all the drawers in crotch mahogany with period glass pulls. The original crotch mahogany framed beveled mirror with powerful S scroll mirror supports and carved Paw Feet with hidden casters intact on the feet and we believe this piece to also have its original finish. This outstanding Empire chest measures 71 inches in height from the floor to the top of the mirror. Height from the floor to the front portion measures 42 1/2 inches, total width of the dresser is 43 1/2 inches, total depth of 23 1/2 inches and weighs approximately 160 lbs. The original beveled mirror measures 23 1/2 inches high by ... more23 1/2 inches wide. This chest does disassemble into 3 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. All of the locks are intact on this piece but we do not have the key. The original beveled mirror does show some streaking and spotting as common in antique mirrors. And the mirror does pivot front to back to adjust for viewing. The left mirror support does present with an old repair that seems solid and tight, the right plumage above the foot shows some chipping and there is an area of missing veneer on the left side edge at the top and a cluster of scratches on the left side panel this is typical of these Empire pieces and doesn't affect the integrity of the piece by no means, just a part of the time worn characteristics these old pieces have endured over the past 100 years or so. The legs and base that hold the seat seem to be made out of mahogany. Check out how well fitted together the center multiple side wood pieces are. And just a beautiful look. Finish on the wood is still in good condition. I am not certain that the base was the original one with the wood seat component. I see other screw holes there that tell me that the pieces were not together originally and the stain on bottom of support board does not go all the way over to the mahogany column. So suspect the stool has been pieced together at some juncture. Still, a nice looking and functioning piece. The spinner adjustment still works well to adjust the height of the stool. It has wonderful crotch mahogany matched veneers on its drawer fronts. The largest and top drawer also has banding. The three bottom drawers are flanked with two beautifully carved columns ending on a platform with hairy carved claw or paw feet. On the very top is a step-back with three small drawers. It has original and period brass hardware. This dresser is all original including finish. original antique empire mahogany work table two drawers built circa 1860-1870
for sale is a very nice early empire two drawer mahogany work table with history included. this piece dates to probably 1860 or so. inside the second drawer are dates of events which include a marriage. 2 death notices, and something else handwritten which is dated 1903, another date hand written is 1874. one death notice talks about someone passing at the depot while going after cattle. anyway, quite interesting. the drawers are hand cut dovetails with hand chamfered drawer bottoms which date the piece to 1880 or earlier. the legs are dovetailed into the pedestal and the front and back are mortised into the sides. a very well done and very sturdy little table which all appears original. the pulls are inserted with wooden dowels that are threaded. the casters appear to also be original to the piece. it is 20 inches wide, 15.5 inches deep, ... moreand it is 29 inches tall. it is in near mint condition save a couple of places where small pieces of veneer are missing. i could have replaced these without notice, but i prefer to leave things as found. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. i expect it can go postal, ups, or greyhound for probably 75.00 or less. good luck.

Antique 19th C. EMPIRE PARLOR or GAME TABLE Mahogany A mid 19th century game or parlor table from the Empire period. It has a solid mahogany folding top with its original brass hinges and it sits on a mahogany veneered pedestal with casters. Beneath the top is a storage area. It stands 29-3/4” high with the top folded closed or 29” high with the top folded open. The top measures 36” x 36-1/2” opened or 18” x 36-1/2” stored folded. The storage area is 15” x 32-1/2” x 2-3/4” deep. Condition: As you can see in the pictures there are several veneer chips. Mostly small, the largest pointed out in one of the pictures below. This is one of th best empire dining tables that I have seen in many years The base is massive. I sat the soup can next to it for size reference. The table extends to 10 feet 9 inches long. Can hold another 15 inch leaf. Which would make it 12 feet long It holds 6 I only have 5 The table is a very impressive 54 inches wide. 54 inches square when closed. In the pics you may notice that the center leg is not in the center of the table. It will move to the center. I didn't want to force it across the uneven ground. The chair is 24 1/4" long. 21 1/2" wide(deep) has a 15" high seat and is 34 1/2" tall to the back rest's top rail. As we mentioned in the condition decription there is some very tiny veneer bubbles on the back rest. They were too small to even get a photograph of. The seat was recently rebuilt and has a lovely Honey Bee embroidered upholstery on it. The fabric is clean and has no condition issues. This is a very low to the ground chair but its legs are absolutely original and have not been altered in anyway. The chair is tight and strong with no break or repairs to its frame. Being offered for sale is this lovely Flamed Mahogany Empire ~ Victorian Marble Top Washstand with Key circa 1860's.This beautiful 19th century washstand features gorgeous flamed mahogany.A beautiful marble top with a shaped backsplash and marble shelf, its original drawer pulls, with early hand-cut dove-tailed ends on the drawers, a chamfered back,inside of doors and drawer bottoms and casters intact on all four feet. This 19th century washstand measures 39 1/2 inches tall to the top of the marble backsplash.31 inches tall to the top of the marble at the front,33 inches wide and 20 1/2 inches deep and weighs approximately 100 lbs. The marble shelf measures 31 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches deep. The marble top appears to be an old replacement and has no chips or cracks but some slight staining as common with old marble. There is an area ... moreup under the left shelf bracket that has been"colored in" with white perhaps to cover a stain and blends very well and not very noticeable at all in my opinion unless very close inspection. The lock is intact on the doors below but the key provided just aids in opening the doors and doesn't work the lock. On the right side there is a small square opening about 1 inch where there once was a pull out towel rode but its no longer present. This is a stunning example of empire mahogany furniture that dates from the 1840s to‘60s era. This beautiful piece came out of a home in ... morethe Philadelphia area. Where it sat all its life. It has a gorgeous base with three roll-front flame mahogany dovetail drawers with big glass knobs on the top row, and on the bottom are two demi-lune shaped flame mahogany doors, and three flame mahogany hand-cut dovetail curved front drawers. It has empire scroll posts going down into an empire curl foot, and a thick banded top goes up against the molded flame mahogany triple-section four-post backsplash. It does come with a key. The top has been re-sprayed to remove nicks and dings, and the front has been re-sprayed in a satin sheen lacquer to bring out the look of the flame mahogany. Other than a few nicks and dings along the top of the backsplash molding and the edge of the top, it is in unbelievable condition overall for its age. The overall size is 72 inches long, 23 inches deep, 41 inches high to the top of the base, and 51.5 inches to the top of the backsplash. The backsplash even has a plate groove so you can display plates on top. The center curved front drawers are 24 inches wide, and the doors are 15 inches wide. EMPIRE MAHOGANY SLEIGH BED WITH ROPE FOUNDATION With our compliments we are pleased to offer this all original 19th Century Empire Sleigh Bed with original tapered pole rails to support the bed with a rope foundation. This full sized period bed comes to us out of an intact early 19th Century Rhode Island Estate. Coming by an original intact rope bed is a rarity in itself. When we got the bed it was being used with a plywood bunky board as a foundation instead of rope. These were designed to be used with a thick horse hair mattress that sat a top the ropes. If you are doing a true correct historical preservation of the period this is correct bed. We have recently seen custom bedding made from thick memory foam bedding. Where box spring foundations make the bed height too high& can not be employed. This is absolutely the way to go. The ... morecost is not that much more than a standard mattress. You will need to find a custom bedding company in your city. The ends of the side, head and foot board rails each have toothed wooden gears on them. The bed originally had small wooden locking arms that had matched teeth. These served as a tensioning device that secured the ropes at a desired tension. The outline of these arms are present& can be replicated if so desired. The bed is in absolutely fantastic condition but we would advise you to have some knowledge about antique beds before getting involved with this. Each of the rails secure to the head& footboard with standard bed bolts which come with this bed. The bed is 83" long and 58" wide. The inside dimensions are 51" x 77" The head& foot boards are each 42" tall. This bed was made by a Rhode Island furniture maker for an old New England family whose fortune was made in Clipper ship freighting. It remained in one home since the day it was made for it. Here is an antique salesmans sample miniature empire mahogany embroidered seated chair.It stands only 22 inches tall and 13 inches wide. Its in excellent condition considering its age. The only damage is the veneer in front of the chair but could easily be repaired. The embroidered seat is all original horsehair fill and webbing is intact. I almost forgot to add I have glued the missing piece of mahogany that fell off the front part of the chair and this is numbered on the chair frame and the seat bottom.This is the# 1 chair out of 8.Its marked just under the seat webbing.
