1860's Flame Mahogany Late American Empire Desk with Carved Corner Columns and Feet This estate item is ready to use as is. It has beautifully carved front corner columns and feet. The inner desk case and all drawers are dovetailed construction. The front dovetails of the drawers have been bulked up with added strips of wood that cover them up. but they are there! Here is a delightful early 20th century mahogany empire style green upholstered sofa in very nice condition for it's age. This terrific sofa has beautiful flame mahogany veneer on both the serpentine top and the bottom front rail and stands on it's original casters. This sofa measures 84 inches or 7 feet long and stands 33 inches tall to the highest point on the top rail and 27 inches front to back. The seat height is 16 inches and the arm height 24 inches. The bench seat between the arms measures 63 inches long and 20 inches front to back. This lovely piece has an upholstered back as well so it could be floated in any room. It is certainly in nice enough to be used as in in a"comfortable house" and again. Is a great candidate for full restoration with minimal veneer repair and new upholstery. antique victorian mahogany heavily carved dresser mitchell & rammelsburg empire
ebay allows 12 pictures. for this piece that is not nearly enough to do a decent job in describing and showing it. at any rate. Here is a wonderful antique serpentine front dresser most likely by mitchell and rammelsburg. if not by them, someone equally as gifted in furniture making. the dresser is mahogany and stands 94.5 inches tall on its original porcelain casters. it is 49 inches wide and 24 inches deep. it has 4 drawers. the one at the bottom does not appear to be a drawer. it was crafted to be a hidden drawer. there are no pulls on it and it is carved differently to appear as the bottom splash board of the dresser. the dresser is quite heavy, the drawers are well made with the front serpentine boards being about 1.25 inches thick. notice the joints of the drawers, all hand cut dovetails which date the piece to circa 1870-1880. it has ... morea large mirror harp as you can see that is pierced carved and has candle stands, finials, crests, and other nice details that make this a very desirable dresser. the mirror is arch shaped and shows some smokiness and a little silver loss. the mirror is actually in better condition than most. i do not know if the mirror is original but the backing appears to be. at the base of the mirror harp on each side is a nice glove box with a drawer that is hand carved dovetails. i forgot to get pictures of these with the drawers open, nor did i show the four drawers of the dresser open as i ran out of picture spaces allowed by ebay. the drawers all open with ease and each drawer is designed for its specific space. i have a book that is dated 1991 that lists a dresser like this but not as nice for 2250.00. it has great form and beauty, the front of the dresser corners are especially nice. the marble is original and is in great condition for its age. any questions please ask and if you want more pictures i have several and would be glad to supply them, again just ask for what you want. the dresser may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. i know the pictures are bad, i

for sale is a very nice serpentine top mahogany empire center table. it has unique base that still retains 4 casters. it is early circa 1870 or so and maintains its original finish. i cleaned it and the grain is wonderful in the table. it has bead and bead like molding along the base of the apron or skirt. At the base of the pedestal, and midway between the contoured base. i think all the beads are still present. it is a very solid, sturdy, and functional table with no wiggles or wobbles. it sits level and does not teeter. it is a nice size being 31.75 by 31.25 inches on the top. the base is 19 inches square. it may be picked up at my home or transported at buyer's expense. good luck.

A very special piece! My mother has moved from the family home to a much smaller condo and sadly doesn't have room for several family treasures. This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful, a hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely, as are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front, sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. We offer a very beautiful Antique Empire Dressing Mirror. This piece has been in our collection for many years. The feet have the brass capped claw foot on them and everyone is present and secure. The side pieces that screw the mirror on the base have wooden centers with brass backs. They are very special. The finials are perfect as well and give this piece its crowning touch. The mirror is quite foged from age. And could be replaced. We have left it original for the next owner to decide. The piece was being stored and does need a good polish and cleaning. We took advantage of a clear evening when we shot the pictures last week as we had been having a lot of rain. The mirror frame is in very fine condition for a 19th century useful item. Here we have for auction a stuning Napoleon III Empire style mahogany and brass inlaid twin pedestal desk dating to the mid 19th century. This beautiful example has a moss green baize inset top over a bank of three frieze drawers being raised on twin pedestals with column detailing on spread pad feet. The cupboard doors open to reveal sliding drawers and shelves. The desk is also finished to the rear in a similar style so could easily be used in the middle of a rom. The drawers are finished in similar brass inlay as are the cupboard doors and pedestals and a key is provided to open the drawers. Here's a stunning and very rare piece of American antique furniture: an American Classical Empire Federal Period Mahogany"Rent" or Center table. Probably from Philadelphia, circa 1825. It stands on three hairy paw feet on casters, on three carved legs, with a highly carved center standard leading up to an octagonal top with a sunburst type alternating flame mahogany inlay, with four real drawers and four faux drawers. I fell in love with them on the first sight. They have slightly curved legs, High framed center panel rests, featuring an awesome Empire parcel gilt carved flower scroll center cartouche. It was gilt over red base, just phenomenal. Please take your time going over photos, look closely at the quality and detail of construction, closeups of the grain of wood and elegance of this pair. Also note in the last two photos, focus on criss cross pegging(pegs) that are holding this pair of beauties together. No screws or nails in it's construction. HI. great antique empire salesman sample dresser. this one has two small drawers on top with two wood handles each and three draweres on the bottom. the top drawer has no handles. It's in a beautiful caramel swirled colored mahogany. The brass pulls are new replacements, all the drawers are dovetailed with chamfered bottoms an slide in and out very smoothly. The chest is 43 1/2 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 51 inches at highest point at top of back splat and is in very good condition with no visible repairs and just a mere age crack on either side which is very common and hardly noticeable. Genuine Antique Empire Sideboard- mid 19th Century From a Philadelphia estate. We are only the 2nd owners of this piece. Beautiful solid mahogany piece with flame mahogany veneer. Condition: Sideboard has a french polish finish except for top which was refinished due to previous damage. Drawer knobs are replacements. Some flame mahogany veneer loss(I have some of the pieces) hard to notice as piece is mahogany as well underneath the veneer. Large. Antique Empire Dresser, mahogany, mirror veneer, 19th century, good condition
An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need to be refinished. There is a crack ... morein the wood on one of the sides(visible in photo) The drawer slides could use some repair work, but the drawers function. I believe that the dresser is from the early half of the 19th century because the nails used on the back boards are type I cut(photographed) The back boards are soft wood with a rich brown patina on the back, the part exposed to air. A very special piece! This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful. A hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely. As are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front. Sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. My parents originally purchased this dresser from an antiques dealer in upstate New York and it's been in their smoke-free household for more than 50 years. No maker's mark is evident. Antique American Empire Carved Mahogany Sofa Settee Circa 1830-1850
A beautiful American Empire sofa/settee. Amazing carved mahogany details with olive green mohair upholstery. Measures approximately 64 inches long x 24 inches deep x 34 1/2 inches tall at the back. The round fluted crest rail has downturned curved ends on either side with acanthus leaf carvings above a smooth curved back. The front of the arms have carved cherries. Pears, oak leaves, acanthus leaves, and nuts framed by a cartouche of C scrolls. Feather design carving on legs with paw feet. Possibly made in New York. There is overall fading on the upholstery along with a worn spot on the back, a tear on the side, and the trim is loose in one section(see photos) Appraised at 2,300. This settee has been well cared for and will provide many years of enjoyment for the new owner.

Early 1800's Empire Mahogany Secretary, (attributed to Meeks)
This is a great old early Mahogany Secretary Desk. We did not find a label but based upon form and style we can confidently attribute it to J&J W Meeks of NYC. Circa 1830 to 1840. It has been restored back to pristine condition, note photo of cracks that been repaired and filled. Flame grain figured mahogany veneer is prominent throughout this piece, it is truly beautiful. The drop down down door opens to reveal many compartments and drawers, the lock has been replaced on this door) on the side of the large drawer are these carvings: LP No 17/1803. There is one full length drawer and 3 doors at the bottom, the center door is straight while the one on each side is curved. the locks on these 3 doors have been replaced with new ones and the outside backing has been replaced. We did keep the back so we can include it with the piece if one ... morewould want it put back on, albeit it is in not very good condition and it has shrunk so will be ill fitting, nevertheless, it is available should one want to have it. This is an empire style drop leaf table that was either a salesman display piece or a childs. The table is made of mahogany and is 15 ½ inches high. 20 inches deep, 28 ½ inches across open and 12 ¾ inches across closed. The drawer is dovetailed and the bottom is hand chamfered. The nails are hand made. We believe the table dates to around 1820. It has wear on the top and a scratch on one of the leaves. The leaves work properly. The shipping cost is expensive due to the oversize of the box needed to pack the table.
