Unfortunately you can't tell it from my pictures. they seem to worse than usual for ... moreme. at any rate, the light in the room is not good so i had a terrible time getting the camera to focus and then they were either too light or too dark. the bottom line is that the table is much much nicer in person. it is oval as you see, 46 inches long, 32 wide, and a bit less than 30 tall with casters. it has one drawer that is hard to see when closed, the front being contoured to match the contoured skirt. it is a great table and rolls easily on the casters. it has a sweet pedestal and the empire scroll feet. the feet of course are veneer, the rest of the piece is solid mahogany i believe. i will check it again to make sure and if otherwise i will add that to the listing when i get back upstairs to take a peek at it again. i bought it about 2 years ago and stuck it upstairs and forgot i had it. someone came by the house and had to sell it so they said, but not too bad for what i had to pay. they were not easy to deal with. the grain is just outstanding, however the pictures do not do it justice either. it has a couple of little dents that are not worth mentioning, one next to the drawer which can be seen in the pictures and maybe another little ding or two but maybe not. any tiny impertections do not distract from its beauty or function. it is as solid as it can be and does not wiggle, wobble, or have any loose pieces, the veneer is great and overall the table is in outstanding antique condition. it can be picked up at my home and shipped. i can help arrange shipment if that would be helpful. also i will be glad to do layaway on it should anyone be interested in doing such. good luck.

antique heavily carved mahogany empire dining table 54 inch split pedestal 3 bds
for auction is one of the finest empire mahogany dining tables i have owned in this price range. i have had horner and others that were in excess of 10-14.000, but none any better built or better quality. this is a great 54 inch split pedestal table with a great turned center leg suppot. it has three 14 inch leaves which have the same grain, color, and patina as the top. leaves installed makes this an eight foot table. if the leaf runner stops were removed, i expect it would open to 12 feet. the table is presented in original finish, there is some crazing to the finish but i would never refinish it. the table is solid mahogany with no veneers, has great grain and a fantastic pedestal which is heavily carved and contoured. the feet are massive claw feet which are carved all the way up the knee to the pedestal. i sold this table to a fella ... moremaybe 3 or 4 years ago and he needed some money, so i have him his money back. with shipping charges i have almost as much in the table as i am starting it for. i am taking it apart to put in storage as i have no room in my house for it. i have like 3o pictures so if you want to see anything else hopefully i have a picture of it, if not i can get one. the table may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. i just spent several hours cleaning the dirt and grim out of the carvings etc. i used new life and liquid gold, so if it looks a bit shinny here and there i probably didn't get all the cleaner wiped away. any spots or usual looking objects in any of the pictures if from a dirty camera. i can't seem to get some of the junk off the lens.

Exceptional French Empire Gilt& Patinated Bronze Mounted Mahogany Armoire Probably c. 1880-1910 Item# 130408PXG26 This rare and exciting work of art from the last quarter of the 19th Century is exceptional in every way. An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either ... moreside are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Very nice empire chest ready for another 150 yrs of service. This chest dates from about 1850-60 and is all hand dove tailed and hand chamfered bottoms and side panels. We restored it back to a wonderful condition. We do the drawers inside and out also look at the backs of our furniture they are finished too. We do not skimp on anything when it come to bringing a piece back to life. These chests are near indestructible and withstand a ton of abuse, yet they are beautiful! We are pleased to offer to the market this beautiful antique Empire stool. This stool has a flame mahogany matchbook veneer finish. It has the original brass casters as well. The top has a hand made needlepoint cushion. The spring under the cushion can be felt and it appears that this is in need of a new stuff job. The stool measures approximately 18" in height at the center. It is 15" high at the corners. The wood frame measures 18" square. There are losses. Scratches, cracks, and repairs to the veneer that are typical for a piece this age. The fabric is also in need of a cleaning. The underside shows dried glue where repairs were made. Empire II Mahogany Sideboard with Lion's Paw Feet and Full MIrror
For sale is a mahogany sideboard from the American Empire II period(mid-1800s) The sideboard came from a religious building in Portland. ME several years ago and has been in my home ever since that time. It contains three small drawers over two large drawers over four doors. The sideboard has columns at either end, with lion's paw feet at the bottom of each column. The sideboard has a full mirror that sits upon the backsplash at the rear of the serving area. I believe the mirror to be original glass, in excellent condition(full length mirrors are quite uncommon in these sideboards) This is a fantastic piece of furniture, and it is in marvelous condition, with the two notable exceptions: there are some markings above the upper left drawer(presumably from returning silverware into the drawer, which contains an insert for segregating silverware ... moreor other items) and the removal of the overlay strip between the two center doors below(I have the strip. it simply needs to be re-attached. this is damage created by movers in my recent move) The sideboard comes with the skeleton key for the doors. Fine Empire carved drop leaf table. C. 1825. Made with solid South American. Or Cuban mahogany. Finely carved base with acanthus leaves and simply wonderful New York style true hairy paw feet. The top is over two leaves set on a foliate carved standard. Raised on four leaf carved legs ending in the New York style feet, set on steel casters. The legs and the feet are in excellent condition. The hinges have been replaced at some point in time. As is typical of a piece built in 1825. The one leave has a crack as pictured. layaway available on any of my listings should anyone have an interest in that. up for auction is the nicest empire vanity i have seen in all the years i have been messing with antiques. i bought this not long ago and have it in my dining room as there is no where else to put it in my 20 room house. i have another one in a bedroom upstairs that i will list shortly. hopefully it will sell and not this one as i want to actually keep this one. anyway. I have seen a dozen or so of these, but none this nice. it is serpentine, heavily carved mirror harp, pedestal, feet and wings, along with carved roping surrounding the vanity top. the mirror shows some fog, which does not bother me, i can have that corrected for about 100.00 should someone want that accomplished. it is free from damage or repairs as far as i can ascertain. i think the knobs on ... morethe two serpentine drawers are original as well. this is a wonderful empire piece made around 1860 or so i think out of the most wonderful flame mahogany as you will find. the piece has wonderful patina and is gorgeous. the pictures do not do it justice. it stands 49.5 to the top of the mirror, it is about 30 inches to the vanity top and 22 inches deep at the widest point of the serpentine top. it is 44 inches wide at the back of the top and 38 inches wide at the front of the top. shipping will be the buyers responsibility. you may arrange a carrier, or i will do it for you, or you may pick it up at my home. if the carrier requires a crate, i will build it for the cost of the material and will not charge any labor. the material will cost about 50.00 for the crate, if required. i need to sell one of these vanities, don't have room for both. i am starting this at probably all it is worth, but if you want the best, this is for you! i bought it because it was the nicest one i have seen in years and years. i doubt you can find another one like it, and if so, it will be expensive. i will be glad to answer any questions or supply other pictures upon request. good luck

Dating back to 1830-1840 this"Secretary" desk has been lightly refinished. But not altered in any way to preserve all authenticity. Great care was taken to alter nothing on this piece and keep it in its original state. This piece is at least 175 years old and still in magnificent condition! This piece is in wonderful condition. We believe the finish to be original. The ornate mirror is also in excellent condition with the original beveled glass mirror. Upon close inspection we find there have been a couple of repairs made to the top section. These were well done and are not seen unless you are closely looking for it. The mirror has some very slight cloudiness which is consistent with the age of the piece. There are three sections of marble. One on the center top and a smaller piece on each of the two glove boxes. ... moreIt is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are some minor discolorations, again consistent with age. We found this piece in a rural area of Maine. The owners obviously took great care of it over all of these years. Rare French Empire Period Mahogany and Ormolu Lyre Clock c.1820-30
Beautiful French Empire Period Lyre Clock having a flame mahogany and gilt bronze case in excellent condition. Original eight day movement striking the hours and half hours on a lovely bell. Bell has been re-sil vered. Made by A. Guibert. Orleans c.1820-1830(signed on rear of dial plate) Tardy lists a maker Guibert. Paris, Rue Coquilliere 1820-1830. Orleans is 70 miles south-west of Paris. The fine castings retain their original gilding. Top left paterae has more wear than top right. But very acceptable. Old small repair on rear of top middle casting. Left rear foot was missing and one was turned on a lathe to fit. It's the right shape but isn't detailed like the other three. Movement has just been fully cleaned and overhauled and the steelwork polished and screws blued. Pendulum is an old correctly working replacement. Winding key ... moreis a correctly fitting replacement. Dial retains it's original gilding and the numerals have been professionally re-done. There is a small scratch between 4 and 5 but it doesn't cut through original gilding. The front plate of the movement is stamped Pons. Height is 20 1/4" or 51cm. Width is 9" or 23cm.
