This marble top dresser/ chest has gorgeous crotch mahogany on the drawer fronts surrounded by beautiful ribbon molding and the original wood pulls. This splendid dresser/ chest measures a total height of 80 inches to the top of the mirror. Height to the top of the marble top glove boxes is 39 inches, height to the marble top center measures 34 inches, a total width of 43 1/2 inches wide and 19 inches deep and weighs approximately 160 lbs. The gorgeous wishbone mirror is framed in crotch mahogany with beaded trim and rests in matching arm supports(old repair on left arm support.see close-up) The width of the mirror frame measures 27 1/2 inches and the old original mirror measures 27 1/2 inches high by 15 1/2 inches wide. The wishbone mirror rests is a turned mahogany slot on top of the center storage drawer flanked by marble top glove box drawers and a drop marble top center.The base offers three large storage drawers each having gorgeous crotch mahogany fronts, wood pulls and beautiful ribbon mahogany trim that encases each drawer. All the drawers have early period dove-tailing, and all the locks are intact but we do not have the key. There are two small spots where the veneer is missing(about 1 inch long on the left side above the second and third drawer) and the left wood pull on the top center drawer has been repaired, also a piece of the vertical ribbon molding is missing on the bottom right side at the base corner. This is a wonderful example of a Classic American Empire Marble Top Chest/ Dresser circa 1840's and is fine quality. Solid and very sturdy and has a commanding presence all of its own! ebay allows 12 pictures. for this piece that is not nearly enough to do a decent job in describing and showing it. at any rate. Here is a wonderful antique serpentine front dresser most likely by mitchell and rammelsburg. if not by them, someone equally as gifted in furniture making. the dresser is mahogany and stands 94.5 inches tall on its original porcelain casters. it is 49 inches wide and 24 inches deep. it has 4 drawers. the one at the bottom does not appear to be a drawer. it was crafted to be a hidden drawer. there are no pulls on it and it is carved differently to appear as the bottom splash board of the dresser. the dresser is quite heavy, the drawers are well made with the front serpentine boards being about 1.25 inches thick. notice the joints of the drawers, all hand cut dovetails which date the piece to circa 1870-1880. it has ... morea large mirror harp as you can see that is pierced carved and has candle stands, finials, crests, and other nice details that make this a very desirable dresser. the mirror is arch shaped and shows some smokiness and a little silver loss. the mirror is actually in better condition than most. i do not know if the mirror is original but the backing appears to be. at the base of the mirror harp on each side is a nice glove box with a drawer that is hand carved dovetails. i forgot to get pictures of these with the drawers open, nor did i show the four drawers of the dresser open as i ran out of picture spaces allowed by ebay. the drawers all open with ease and each drawer is designed for its specific space. i have a book that is dated 1991 that lists a dresser like this but not as nice for 2250.00. it has great form and beauty, the front of the dresser corners are especially nice. the marble is original and is in great condition for its age. any questions please ask and if you want more pictures i have several and would be glad to supply them, again just ask for what you want. the dresser may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. i know the pictures are bad, i

A very special piece! My mother has moved from the family home to a much smaller condo and sadly doesn't have room for several family treasures. This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful, a hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely, as are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front, sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. This dresser is constructed with mahogany veneer. It has 2 large drawers and 4 smaller drawers. Out of the 10 knobs. 9 are original to the piece. One is slightly different. Each drawer has a key hole but a key is not included with the purchase of this dresser. Attached to the dresser is a beautiful beveled mirror that attaches to 2 scrolled arms. An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need to be refinished. Hi. And thanks for looking! This listing is for a real antique empire style dresser. This is a good sized piece, 47 inches high, 42.5 wide, and 23 deep. There is three drawers on the bottom and two up top, all with hand cut dovetails. I think the bottoms of the drawers as well as other parts are all one piece of wood with no seams. The front has beautiful flame mahogany veneer which is in fairly good shape except on the top drawers, which have slight curve. Along each side of the front are greek colums with hand carved details top and bottom. The top of the dresser is two boards that have been painted to look like wood grain. There is a gap in between them, due to age I suppose. All the drawer pulls are clear glass, I don't think they are original, but they are old, and some don't match exactly. This fine 19th century dresser features its original glass drawer pulls. Early hand-cut dove-tailed ends on the drawers and powerful S scrolls that flank the base. The ogee framed mirror rests between the tall scroll top arm supports, we believe the mirror to be an older replacement and is nice and clear. The drop center base features smaller glove box drawers on each side with ogee drawer fronts and below additional storage is found in the four larger drawers below. Measurements: 78 1/2 inches tall to top of mirror 44 1/2 inches high to top of base sides 40 1/2 inches high to center of dresser base 45 1/2 ... moreinches wide 19 inches deep weighs approximately 145 lbs This American Empire dresser is solid and tight and has a beautiful presence. All the locks are intact on the drawers but we do not have the key. The interior of the drawers has been painted some time ago and the mirror frame and base does present with some mild veneer losses. Which I have tried to show in the pictures nothing major in my opinion for being approximately 170 years old and common in these period Empire pieces. There is also a mild age crack on the top of the glove drawers behind the mirror supports. A wonderful piece of American History that would be a lovely companion to that Empire Bed. Please view. Antique Empire Style Buffet Dresser Storage
This was the piece that I had the most fun with. I used 16- SIXTEEN- different Annie Sloan chalk paint colors to get this effect. Plus Crackle Tex. Clear and dark wax. So. The story behind this piece is. Well, firstly it's massive. It is the great beast of all furniture. 60"x 26 1/2" x 42" and solid. It looks like wood, but I think it's really granite. It is that heavy. Two pull out drawers on top with ceramic Anthropologie knobs, one massive pull out drawer underneath, and two doors opening to full storage. I bought this from a really cool woman in Portland. You know the kind- just naturally hip. With the groove going on. She had been given it by a friend(I bet who was even cooler! when the friend moved to an Ashram in Portland. Apparently, each of the rooms had a buffet like this! Gawd, that would make me want to ... moredo yoga! It's kinda ironic because the buffet. As big as it is, was the natural dark wood stain. You would think that they would want light, bright colors(perhaps this is why they gave it away) All I can think of is that somewhere in deepest darkest North Portland there is an Ashram filled with antique buffets. That just makes me want to do a Down Dog Split with Open Hips, just thinking about it. I have this listed on my facebook page(ThePaintFactory) as a buffet. But one of my friends posted that she could see this as a changing table in a nursery. I think this is a STATEMENT piece, with endless possibilities. Could still work with traditional antiques, could totally work in a contemporary space, neutral and fun enough for storage in a kids room. Your imagination is your only limitation. What a sweet chest of drawers. Salesmans sample, circa 1850. Made of Walnut secondary wood pine. It measures 9 inches tall 9 1/2 inches wide 5 3/4 deep The chest has a water stain on the top. I have never tried to bleach it out. It looks to have been finished in the past. The rear of one of the drawers looks like it had been nibbled on. In it's past, see photo. I have owned it for 25 years purchased it from an estate in Maine. A very fine antique. Circa 1840's, Empire mahogany step back dresser with mirror. The front feet are large carved claws with acanthus leaf tops, below plinths supporting full round columns having acanthus carved capitols. Between are two flat deep drawers with curved ends. Above is the long convex front drawer, sectioned inside. Three small drawers are on top, all drawers with the original cut glass knobs with brass collars. Supporting the removable framed swivel mirror(new glass) are two carved acanthus leaf scrolls. The fronts and sides of the case are flame mahogany veneers, the case and drawer interiors of pine. Past down by decent in the same French Canadian family and then through marriage to Norwegian American relatives in the 1920's. Made from beautifully grained mahogany veneer over poplar and birch secondary wood and always kept indoors. There is absolutely no fading of the rich wood colors. It is approximately 34 1/2 inches high, 24 inches deep, and 48 inches wide, and is in excellent overall condition with the original finish intact. I will give it a dusting and a coat of paste wax and it will be ready to enjoy for another 100 years. Due to the size of this dresser I would prefer that it be picked up. 53611 ANTIQUE 1840s EMPIRE MAHOGANY MANS PETITE DRESSER W MARBLE TOP & MIRROR
A most unusual antique. Circa 1840's, Empire period flame mahogany veneered and solid mahogany man's petite dresser. Lifting up and back of the top exposes a gray veined white marble surround, the underside of lid with the original very wavy mirror. The case holds four drawers with butterflied flame mahogany veneer fronts, the drawer interiors in oak. The case is on casters. The dresser measures 37-1/2" tall by 28" wide by 16" deep. Very good plus condition: damage is a horizontal crack to board and veneer across the top board of the lid. Both veneered sides have vertical shrinkage cracks. Includes all the locks and the key. The marble slabs are without chips, or stains. The right side marble piece has been broken in two and cemented back. The mirror is fine. The original finish has aged to almost an ebony color.
