ART DECO GUILLOCHE ENAMEL TRAVELLING DRESSING VANITY SET LEATHER SUITCASE - RARE
ART DECO GUILLOCHE ENAMEL 11 PIECE TRAVELLING VANITY/DRESSING/ GROOMING SET IN ITS ORIGINAL LARGE WEEKEND LEATHER SUITCASE- IN GREAT CONDITION– ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND EXTREMELY RARE! A truly fabulous Art Deco travelling set in its original leather suitcase. Consisting of 11 pieces of very stylish guilloche enamel in an extremely rare copper colour. This is a bespoke item of the very highest quality and would have been prohibitively expensive when it was new. Each piece of this delicately crafted set has an eye-catching guilloche enamel pattern in this rare Art Deco copper colour. Which radiates like a sunrise. This is an effect that a skilled craftsman achieves by finely engraving the metal underneath the enamel and then decorating it with a thin layer of guilloche enamel. In addition. The larger pieces of mirror, hairbrush and clothes ... morebrush have a lovely black enamel setting on the handles along with finials on the ends all in the Art Deco style– please see the photos for the detail. The silver metal is probably chrome plated. The brown leather suitcase and copper-coloured guilloche enamel pieces are complemented by a satin-lined brown interior. Which has the same radiating waves pattern of the guilloche enamel. There are pockets on each side and attachment straps also in brown leather with press studs to hold the pieces in place. The larger pieces are mounted on the satin lined interior. The set consists of: a mirror; a hairbrush; a clothes brush; a comb; four bottles and three manicure pieces. One small manicure piece is missing. The case has two lock fastenings but no keys– although these should be easy to replace. It carries the initials lightly stamped and painted of gothic letters AMB– these should be easy to remove. MEASUREMENTS: The suitcase is 45cm in length; 31cm in width and 15cm in depth. It is large for a vanity or dressing/grooming set and is the size of a weekend suitcase. This item measures 17 1/2" tall x 15 1/4" x 7 1/2" The mirror frame measures 12" x 9 1/2" The mirror itself measures 9 5/8" x 6 3/4" The mirror swings on the upright turned wood posts. There is one drawer with small brass knobs. This is a veneer wood item and there is some veneer damage.note that the front area around the drawer has had two repairs to original veneer. See my photo close-ups of these area. Note also there is a crack in the wood of one of the turned posts that holds the mirror. My finger is pointing to it in a photo. Absolutely gorgeous 13 piece sterling silver. Hand hammered made by R W& S- Robert Wallace& Sons(also referred to as Wallace Silversmiths) Vanity/Grooming/Dresser/Dressing set. The pieces(1 mirror. 3 jars, 2 nail/manicure pieces, 1 buffer with 1 tray, 1 shoe horn, 1 button hook, 2 brushes and 1 comb frame(missing teeth) are also stamped with numbers. This set has been in an Estate for many years. I have not polished the pieces. They appear to have tarnish but still quite a bit of luster to them. Each item is Monogrammed with an"M" All pieces are stamped with"Sterling" The R W& S Mark and the Wallace emblem" Hand Hammered" and each piece has a number stamped in the"9900"s-5" range. The powder/dresser jars are heavy. Cut crystal. Beautiful! As you can see in the photos the comb is missing ... morethe teeth. The mirror glass is intact. Brush bristles are in great condition. Antique French Rococo Style Dressing Table/Vanity with Beveled Mirror C1885
This high quality antique French Rococo dressing table is made of walnut which is in superb condition. The beveled mirror and frame are in excellent condition. There are a full width drawer to the front and two small drawers on either side of the mirror frame. There are a few small signs of its age on the table top that are shown in the photos. It is in strong and sturdy condition and the hand carving is not chipped or damaged. It measures 35" wide. 22" deep, 28 1/2" high from floor to table top, and 59 1/2" from the floor to the top of the crest. The front drawer measures 24" wide and 14 1/2" deep. and the two small drawers measure 4 1/2" wide and 5 1/2" deep. These are inside measurements. I bought this vanity in 1992 at In Days of Old. And the longest side is just under 8 inches long. The base is marked: EBONY This tray is an elegant shape. It is missing from the lower half of the mirror. The drawer has a lock mechanism, but no ket is present. The wood in a hardwood, maybe cherry. This mirror is a real find! Heavy brass and marble in Classic Late Art Deco Design! It also has a very Hollywood look. But the design is very spare and elegant. Would work for both sexes. This is a very heavy piece. Over 8 lbs.11" high and 10" wide. The marble base is 1" thick. There is wear on the brass which is a good thing.great patina. The mirror is two sided. I purchased this piece at an Estate Sale years ago and I was given a small piece of an article in a european newspaper that I have attached a picture of. The article shows a picture that looks to be this piece and the it reads"An exquisite Adam period inlaid dressing table. Circa 1780 exhibiting at the GROVESNER HOUSE FAIR AND ANTIQUES SHOW IN ENGLAND. June 8th-19th. 1994. The dimensions of this piece closed are: 30" H x 31" W x 17" D This piece is very rare! Antique Vintage Large Vanity Dressing Tabletop Shaving Wooden Swivel Mirror
Antique Victorian style wooden swivel mirror for a tabletop vanity or dresser. Mirror may have also been used for shaving. The frame and base are wood. I am not sure what type of wood it is. But if I had to guess I would say Mahogany, but please determine for yourself. Approximate measurements are 21 1/2" tall, 18 1/2" wide at the base and 6 1/2" deep(at the base) The mirror appears to be original and has that antique mirror patina with small black specking throughout. This is the perfect mirror if you are looking for something that shows its age, character and patina. Condition of the glass is good and it has a beveled edge all the way around(set in about 1" there is some chipping of the glass up underneath the top of the wood frame, difficult to see unless you really looking(please see last photo) Condition of the wood ... moreis good with some wear, patina and cracking to the finish in spots. This piece an amazing antique look that you can only get with with age and time. There may have been some water damage to the back of the piece at some point but it really only adds the character of the piece. Item is in all over good condition but not perfect. Miniature 925 Vintage Vanity or Dressing Table with Attached Seat
A nicely executed miniature sterling dressing table with seat(or vanity) marked 925 on the bottom of the seat with another mark I'm not familiar with. The reddish cast in the mirror is the reflection from my camera. The drawer is a separately made piece and slides in and out.
