The top I restored with a new walnut veneer over the original veneer which needed restored.The upper drawer carvings on the left and right corners have a few small pieces of carving missing.The rounded/curved corner posts are a great detail especially with their spectacular burled inlays and of course the intricate floral marquetry(just look closely at the close up photo. It is amazing work, with very tiny inlays and using many different wood species) The amazing corner post marquetry is mirror imaged on the opposing corner posts. The upper drawers with the book matched burl inlays are stunning.The delicate arched trim which outlines the upper drawers is a fine piece of craftsmanship. What a beautiful set you've found! It’s a neo-classical high-quality mahogany five-piece bedroom set by the Northern Furniture Company of Sheboygan. Wisconsin, dating from the 1930s or‘40s. If this was period neo-classical, you’d be looking at paying in the high thousands, but this is a very unique copy, complete with the ebonized pillars, the simulated brass ormolu trim, and the diamond point ebony inlay, with brass ormolu style stars. A hard. Close-grained wood, mahogany can be strikingly veined or mottled, as observed in these pieces. The set consists of a four-drawer tall chest. Two single beds, a matching three-drawer chest, and a matching mirror. All finished in a dark reddish-brown color, with two glass tops, and the whole set is all ready to find a place in your home. The set retains the feel of its original neo-classical style ... morehardware. The gilding and black ebonized paint is intact. It’s really stunning. The overall sizes of the pieces, beginning with the tall chest, are 36 inches wide, 21 inches deep, and 46 inches high. Heirloom Golden OAK bed frame and matching dresser- estate furniture c 1900
This bedroom set has been in my mother's family for 5 generations. I'm not sure of the exact age. I am not a dealer, but my calculations it puts it as most likely late 1800's or maximum early 1920's. There are some minor cosmetic dings and damage, but it's in amazing condition for 100+ years old, especially considering we all used it growing up. A true testament to the quality of furniture makers of years gone by. As I said. I am not a professional antique dealer and do not have the vocabulary to describe all the intricacies. I can tell you this, these pictures don't even do it justice in my opinion(but I'm not a professional photographer either) The bed will accommodate a full mattress and at least a 6'4" man. The applied carvings and scrolls(decorative moulding) on headboard and footboard are all intact ... moreand the footboard has a rolling pin top on it. Which sets it apart from all the other ones I have seen while researching this. dimensions: 81" long, 62"tall(headboard) 60" wide, 38" tall(footboard) The rolling pin top comes off for moving, storing. One end tip of the rolling pin is a bit loose, it just needs to be tapped back on with a new nail. I haven't done it because I'm hoping the person who buys this may have access to the authentic type nails and not one from Home Depot(like me) Claw feet with original wooden wheels. The dresser comes apart in two pieces. The top piece has two bonnet/hat boxes with mirrored doors and a shelf in each. With drawers underneath. These are SO cool! My mother had vintage hats for us to use as dress up clothing and I loved keeping my favorites in these'secret' hiding places that had been used to hold the'fancy lady hats' There is a recessed mirror in the middle that can tilt, depending on height of owner. We believe the set was purchased in the 1950's. Is from the St. John's Table Company(Cadillac, Michigan) and is called"Old Amber. It's not easy to find furniture made in Michigan any more! The table has a 4-foot diameter without the two 10-inch leaves. The dresser measures approximately 5 feet high. 34 inches wide and 18 inches deep. What a great price for a sweet. Mid Century Modern Bedroom Suite Furniture Dresser Chest Nightstands End Tables
Mid Century Modern bedroom suite designed by Barney Flagg for Drexel's Parallel line. Signed, dated 1960. Set includes: 72" 6ft long) 9 drawer dresser, tall chest, two nightstands, long mirror, tamboured door full size headboard. This is a very smoothly designed set. As Barney Flagg was a pioneer of minimalist California Modernism. These units have clean lines and the nightstands are excellent examples of American Modernism. Long dresser is 72" x 20" deep x 32" tall. The nightstands. That have their original white smoked glass adjustable shelves, are 22" wide x 16" deep x 25" tall. left stand has some wear on bottom- see picture 6) The tall chest is 38" wide x 20" deep x 42" tall. The large mirror, which was hung vertically, in my opinion would look striking hung horizontally on the wall ... moreabove the 6ft long dresser, measures 56.5" long x 32.5" wide. The tamboured door headboard, which is made for a full size bed, has a factory designed hole in the back for lighting. A few of the tamboured wood pieces have their tops missing- see picture 8. This does not affect the movement. The tops of all the pieces are in perfect condition. Slight veneer chipping at the bottom of the dresser and chest. As seen in pictures 10& 11.
