It has the look of a chest on chest piece but it is actually a one piece chest, with five (5) drawers. It is made of solid wood, and has a maple veneer finish and dovetail joints on the drawers. The piece sits on bracket feet and is sturdy and stable. It is 52" tall, with the lower portion being about 30" tall. It is 19.5" wide from front to back, and 32.5" long side to side. It is a nice chest of drawers that will be a beautiful addition to your home with a little TLC.

BEAUTIFUL Empire 5 Drawer Dresser or Chest with Burl Walnut Veneer
Very nice Empire 5-drawer dresser or chest with burl walnut veneer. This piece is solid. Clean and tight. Drawers are made of single-board, poplar(the grain in some boards is curly) with hand-planed bottoms,and handmade dovetail joints, Each drawer has a pair of turned, solid wood knobs. Top pair of drawers are large and deep with beautifully crafted ogee faces. Drawers do not stick at all and operate smoothly. Overall dimensions of piece are 43 inches wide by 21-3/8 inches deep by 44-3/4 inches tall. There is a charred spot on the top where a kerosene lamp tipped over burned the wood. There are a few small knicks on the edge of the veneer and has been repaired on one drawer face(see photos) Local pick up only.

Top drawer has a nick on two corner edges and that's really it! Still has all the original knobs which appear to be made out of bone. This is a wonderful seven-drawer chest. Which is really a butler’s desk on the third drawer down, in gorgeous flame mahogany and originating ... morein Denmark. It’s a beautifully made period piece dating from the 1840s-50s. I’m sure it’s been redone at some point because it’s in really unbelievable condition because the finish is so beautiful in person and the grains are very vibrant. The only flaw I can see on this piece is that someone has replaced the backboard or inserted a new backboard cover for some reason on the back of the chest. Other than that, this chest is immaculate. It has its original carved knuckle front feet, the original carved block foot in the back that looks like someone has replaced the feet, but it is all original. It has the seven drawers going down the front with no handles, which is the way Denmark makes them, and the only thing on the drawer fronts is either celluloid or ivory escutcheons, which are all intact. When the third drawer cover is flipped down. It exposes a six-drawer cubbyhole interior that is called a butler’s desk. The butler’s desk is all intact and offers plenty of writing space. The overall size is 39 inches wide, 19.5 inches deep, and 60.5 inches tall. The actual ogee molded crown canopy on the dresser is 3.5 inches tall. It comes with a key that seems to

American Federal Period Bowfront Splay Foot Chest of Drawers, New England c 1810
Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Federal Period Inlaid Mahogany Bowfront Chest of Drawers New England States. C. 1810 Featuring solid mahogany planks making up the sides and top of this fine case. Dovetailed into the pine secondary woods of the bottom, nailed at the top, this beautiful chest of drawers from the first quarter of the 19th Century has delightful petite proportions that make it convenient for most rooms. The bow front drawers are built up of strips of pine, covered with a flamed mahogany veneer and inlaid in an ovular shape from side to side, framing the Hepplewhite style replaced hardware and wooden keyhole escutcheons(also probably replaced) The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, somewhat rebuilt as noted in the condition statement below, ... moreand in smooth operating condition, flowing easily in and out of the case for a fully functional appeal. These are divided with a yellow pine backed and mahogany veneered bar, presumably dovetailing into the side of the case behind the veneers. A fine inlay encases the drawers and sides, with diamond form cut in satinwood and ebonized wood to bring clean lines to the case. A softly scalloped apron curves gracefully between the splayed French feet, each fully original including all blocking and interior support. The back is made up of three pine boards, each connecting to the next with tongue-and-groove joinery, nailed along the sides, entirely original. This is an absolutely gorgeous work of Early Americana of the Federal Period. The delicate proportions being one of the most desirable aspects of this fine chest. In simply outstanding visual condition, with full strength and function in all parts, clean and well preserved, this is a wonderful compliment to any fine home. You will treasure this beautiful work of art and it will certainly become a family heirloom, passed down through the generations to come and fully enjoyed in your home.
