Large superb vintage modernist heavily stampworked sterling silver jewelry box with a stunning turquoise stone by the Navajo jeweler Leo Begay. The exterior measured along the edges of the lid is 6-3/16 inches long X 4-1/16 inches wide. The total exterior height of the box including the turquoise stone and the legs of the box is about 3-9/16 inches high. Inside the box. At the edges of the box you have 1-1/4 inches vertical space for items(1 inch lower section, 1/4 inch upper section) and since the lid is domed and goes higher at the center, you have more space as you move ... morein from the edges. At the center interior, you have about 2-1/8 inches interior space. The turquoise stone measures 2-1/8 inches X 1-1/2 inches and has a lovely mountainous form with just beautiful coloration and a nice height to it. This box weighs a hefty 445.2 grams. On the bottom it is hand-engraved Navajo Handmade by Leo Begay Sterling Silver. Inside the lid there is a 5/8 inch, narrow rectangular sterling silver indigenous repair patch, this looks to be original to the time of making. The hinges and the lock flap are all sturdy and function well. This box is in excellent condition. I do not know its age, but this is an older piece, it is not new. It has fairly dark, even patination and we will ship it to you just the way it is and leave any polishing decisions up to you. Nice Refinished Dome Arch Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/ Working Lock & Key
Nice Refinished Antique Arched Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a nice refinished primitive steamer trunk or travel trunk from the mid to late 1800's. It has the following dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 1 7 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. This one has a very slight dome to the top. The trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are plenty of older stress marks on the wood. These older markings include nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Some of the wood that makes up this trunk is rough cut and you can still see the saw blade marks on the wood. We have shown a picture of this on the top. The top center slat ... moreboard has been replaced with an old board off of a parts trunk. The two original slat boards on the top have grooves at the outer edge. The replacement one does not. There is a very small piece of the upper slat board missing at the front left side. It's not a big deal. We just thought we should mention it. If you look closely at the top view picture, you can see what we are talking about. This trunk has a working lock. The lower part of the lock is brass and original to this trunk. The upper part that goes into the lock is off of a parts trunk. We have matched up a key that does work with this lock so you can store your belongings away under lock and key if you want to. The metal parts that are not brass have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior. We have finished the interior wood with two coats of polyurethane. There are some typical stress cracks running across the bottom. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Working Lock and Key
Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a lovely refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 13 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This nice trunk consists of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older distress marks which include nicks and dings mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards. And a couple of hairline stress cracks in the base wood. This one comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front two latches are original and do work properly since the ... moresprings are intact. The metal parts which make up this trunk are not brass and have there been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing. Someone had drilled small holes in the wood and run rope through these holes to make handles for this trunk. They were rather lousy looking, so we have removed those handles and installed a pair of nice Amish made black leather stitched handles where these rope ones were. These handles are sturdy. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining which was worn out looking and finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. A nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian woman standing in a boat on a pond has been added to the underside of the top. The exterior bottom has normal wear and we have finished the bottom to make it overall cleaner. This trunk could be used as a low coffee table, tv/stereo stand, and/or a storage chest anywhere in your home where storage space is needed. This classic Chest has been completely re-finished, and it has a medium/dark Mahogany/Cherry stain finish color on the outside, see pictures. This Chest has interesting wood handles. Vintage travel trunk by Shwayder Trunk Co. Denver. Black with three latches(no key) and two straps. Kind of rough shape. One side is kind of is pushed in or dented but there's no actual tear or breakage. There are also some rough edges and nics(see images) The interior is in pretty good condition. Shwayder made these in the early part of the 20th century. The company became Samsonite in the 1940s. This chest measures 26" long x 13" wide x 8" deep. Shipping is $20 to 48 states. Antique Wood Floral Metal Covered Box Chest Silverplate?
Offered is an antique metal covered wood chest. It measures 20 1/2" wide. 11" high, and 9" deep. I believe the metal covering is silverplate. I have made no attempt to clean the finish. It displays great patina and a wonderful floral design. I'm sure it could easily be returned to original finish if desired. The covering is complete and dent free. The 3 strap leather handle is compromised but may be restorable. The hinges and metal trim on the cover are solid. It opens and closes easily, as designed. The interior and bottom appear to have had a paper lining. Some of it is still present. All the pine wood is in good condition. This classic is odor free and would make a fantastic display piece. Features a rotating mirror and(3) operable drawers(2 small at top, 1 large at bottom) Arts and Crafts style. Unsigned/no maker's mark(s) Exact age is unknown but I would venture to guess it is from the late 19th/early-to-mid 20th century. Found at an indoor flea market in Andover, N.J. in a booth that was filled with only amazing, old treasures) Made of a lightweight/low density variety of wood(perhaps oak, pine or alike) held together with both nails& screws(see pics) Stained dark brown with lovely patina. Excellent vintage condition with NO major defects whatsoever. Some small/light scratches(mostly to dresser top surface) and other very minor"blemishes" ... morethroughout. Structurally solid& sturdy. Sits flat with NO wobble. I cleaned the dust and smudges off the mirror BUT did nothing else. So aside from the mirror. It is being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. It was brought from China to Ft Lauderdale by a young woman nearly 60 years ago. It was her wedding/ dowry chest. It remained in her home until she passed away about a year ago. The elaborate carvings depict court life in the Capitol Chang An in the Tang Dynasty. The chest is carved on five sides and has rounded dove tailed corners. The depth of the carvings are amazing. This is one of the more proficiently sculpted camphor chests I have ever seen. Gorgeous antique Chinese Carved Camphor Wood Chest in exquisite condition with original lock and key. Sliding top tray and side storage box. Commonly used as a blanket trunk as camphor wood is a natural bug repellant. Brought back from china by missionary great grandparents around 1920. Chest is 37 in wide, 19 inch tall& 18 inches deep. This is a beautiful. Antique dresser chest and mirror. It dates from the early 20th century. It is lavishly carved from mahogany and richly painted and gilded. Features a sliding mirror mounted between two carved pillars. There is a panel composed of three sections right below the mirror. The top of the dresser is mahogany. Then two small and one large drawer leading down to a scrolled and gilded base. The drawers have pineapple brass pulls. The sides are as beautiful as the front with rich carving on the mirror supports and gilded rosettes. The drawers feature a hand-carved dovetail. The back of the mirror has had a piece of masonite added at some later point(the nails used don't match the earlier nails used in construction of the chest) The colors are rich and vibrant.
