They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. Up for auction is a lovely vintage plastic/celluloid/bakelite dish. It measures 3.75" x 5.25. I think this item was originally intended as a soap dish. But would look great on a dresser/vanity/bathroom. It is a very pretty mottled bright yellow and creme. It has 4 attached brass ball feet on the bottom. It appears to be made of Bakelite. I come to this conclusion, because it has obvious polished surfaces with the bottom being rough, which is indicative of Bakelite. The edge has an Ogee profile and would go with many styles. Deal of the month- Check out this Mid Century Art Deco 4 Poster Bedroom Suite. The bed is a rare waterfall 4 Poster full size bed. The headboard and footboard are original but I think the steel rails replaced wooded one that probably came with the original set. This set has the chest of drawers and vanity with all matching pulls with bakelight accents. Some of the bakelite edges are scuffed or chipped. For its age this set is in remarkable condition. Some chips on the edges and below normal wear and tear. The vanity has three mirrors on the back that are beveled and etched. Only a few minor blemishes. Vintage Art Deco Vanity Powder Jar- Beige Celluloid and Gold Rim Cover 1920's art deco style. Very good to excellent condition. No chips or scratches in the glass jar. Lid shows some wear on gold rim and top emblem. Underside of lid has some scratches in a circular pattern as shown in picture#5. Glass jar has ribbed pattern and four feet. Vintage Art Deco Bath Vanity Mirror - Mid Century - Hollywood Regency
What a charming cabinet! It has a deco styling to it and I believe it was handmade. The mirrors fold in and the door drops down to expose a storage cubby(see pic#2) There are two hooks on the top so you can hang it from the wall. The shelf measures 15" wide and the unit is 18" tall. At the wide point of the mirror it measures 22" The mirrors are in good shape. There is one chip on the back side pictured in photo#4. The paint is worn in spots due to the age. Sorry for the pictures. They're pretty bad. It's tough to take pictures of mirrored items. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. This a VERY COOL Vintage Retro Art Deco Walnut Dresser Valet. This is made out of solid walnut and looks very similar to the Decatur Industries Pipe holders that were made in 40's and 50's. The Decatur sticker is not on the bottom so I cannot be definite about who made it. It features a slot for wallet. Pens coins, rings, jewelry and Cufflinks on upper tier. It is in very good condition, with NO cracks or damage and NO stains. Finish is very nice, just needs a little furniture polish and will be stunning. The pole that holds the upper tier turns a little bit from loose screw but does not wobble. Easy to tighten, but screw is under felt on bottom. It measures 9.5" x 7.5" and 6" tall. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE GREEN PYRALIN CELLULOID FAUX IVORY ART DECO 5 PIECE DRESSER VANITY SET CIRCA: 1925 I found these pieces in my Grandmother's trunk in my Mother's attic. We believe she received this lovely vanity set as a wedding gift. Brilliant pearlized green faux ivory over a honey frame. Set includes Hairbrush(which could be used as a clothes brush) Comb, Shoehorn& Jewelry or Hairpin Box with Lid. The Brush is marked, on the handle, DUPONT PYRALIN USA" Dupont took over the Pyralin name& it was used from 1915 into the 1930's. Based on this, design& colors used, as well as family information- I believe these pieces were made in the mid 1920's to early 1930's. 3 classic art deco pcs. round tin, vanity powder compact, nuart elephant ashtray
These three pieces are original art deco. The round tin has a wonderful scence of a woman and a parrot/macaw. there are spots of rust but the scene is wonderfully complete all around. Bottom and top are solid, top comes off. The nuart elephant is signed in the center of the tray. there is a crack in the paint/top layer of the tray it does not go thru, the rest is in immaculate condition. the vanity compact is wonderful with a green either catalin or bakelite base, not tested, the top has a mirror showing age with some flaking of the mercury. very unusual design, looks like aflying saucer suspended over the base. again, these are original pieces, I am describing the wear and tear so that you know, but they are a wonderful representation of that era. 1?RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d72f%2B%3E%3B1%3F-13f4d34a210-0x107-
