A small antique wooden dressing table pin tray. Probably made in the Edwardian period, or perhaps a little later. It is shaped like a right-angled triangle. And the longest side is just under 8 inches long. The base is marked: EBONY This tray is an elegant shape. And the corner joints of the edging are well designed, to keep everything firmly in place and prevent warping. Note: I have put a few odds and ends of jewellery in one picture. This is an Antique Vintage Wood Dressing Table 1 Drawer Vanity with Mirror. The Vanity is well made with lots of details to the wood work with accent finials and a curved edge lower shelf. The drawer is dovetailed. There is also gorgeous hardware detail through out(see photos) The metal beading is present on the lower shelf. And at the top of the mirror. It is missing from the lower half of the mirror. The drawer has a lock mechanism, but no ket is present. The wood in a hardwood, maybe cherry. Please note that the finish on one side is lighter than the other. The previous owner has this in a corner, so maybe they did not finish that side. A very beautiful piece! I purchased this piece at an Estate Sale years ago and I was given a small piece of an article in a european newspaper that I have attached a picture of. The article shows a picture that looks to be this piece and the it reads"An exquisite Adam period inlaid dressing table. Circa 1780 exhibiting at the GROVESNER HOUSE FAIR AND ANTIQUES SHOW IN ENGLAND. June 8th-19th. 1994. The dimensions of this piece closed are: 30" H x 31" W x 17" D This piece is very rare! I'm not an expert but I believe that this piece is in good condition for it's age. The piece is in the same condition as I purchased it. I haven't restored it in any way. EDWARDIAN SILVER & EBONY TRAY DRESSING TABLE DESK VANITY ANTIQUE VINTAGE SET
DESCRIPTION: Edwardian ebony wood corner tray with a silver embellishment. The silver has decorative engravings sounding a vacant cartouche. Not hallmarked but tests sterling quality. Measures 5.25 inches on the shorter two sides, stamped'EBONY ENGLISH MAKE' to the base. This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s. When the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since. CONDITION: In perfect condition with no chips or cracks. Kidney Shaped Vanity Dressing Table Desk , Antique Wood With Drawer
Hi there- I know very little about this little desk/table. I inherited it from a neighbor. Is it a sewing table? Why do those wooden arms come out on each side? I have no idea lol. It is lovely and could use refinishing. It's a bit wobbly but does stand evenly on its legs. 35" long. 28" high, width is 16" at the narrowest center and 17.75" at widest.
