I just conditioned the wood before taking photos so it looks shinier than it really is since it was still soaking up the conditioner. I believe this is an all original antique bench or foot stool made by Sikes Chair company. I think the wood is Mahogany and I believe the leather to be the original seat cover but I'm no expert. I found very little info on this. In fact I found no info on the piece it's self. The limited info I did find was on the history of Sikes Chair company. The short version of what I know is that in 1916 Sikes chair company resumed business in Buffalo. NY. Then went out of business in 1919. Only to buy Cutler Desk Company and operated under the Sikes Cutler Desk Corp until going bankrupt in 1929. The Sikes Company resumed production in 1933 and continued to produce furniture until 1956. there more history in between ... morethe times listed where the company moved locations and operated under different names. This beautifully shaped vanity is very old and in very good condition for age. There are limited minor imperfections from age. I was never sure about the type of wood but now I believe it to be mahogany. It is lighter weight. There are two side drawers on the step-up section and one larger one in the lower center. It has a lower shelf stretcher. No repairs have been made that I am aware of. No oil. It has always been kept in a corner, avoiding sunlight. The finish appears to have already been removed some years ago or it is just that worn. I don't know for sure though. Peeling and chipped veneer in many places. Is missing the little brackets that hold the mirror to the wood backing. Also missing a piece of glass for the top center(between the drawers) Both of those items are easily replaced. Someone wrote their name on the mirror, but it does seem to come off easily when scraped, so it is not etched in there. The mirror alone on this piece is worth $40.00. EDWARDIAN EBONY TRAY DRESSING TABLE DESK VANITY ANTIQUE VINTAGE SET WOODEN WOOD
DESCRIPTION: A solid ebony wood oval galleried tray. It measures 13 x 9 inches. And has'REAL EBONY' stamped to the base. This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s. When the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since. CONDITION: What looks like a hairline crack is actually where two sections of wood have been joined to construct the base. There is a small know to the inside of the gallery. Oak look Antique Highboy Dresser and ladies dressing table vanity set
Beautiful 3 pieces for your bedroom. All 3 pieces are in very good condition. Solid with dove tail drawer construction. Not sure of year it is from or what kind of wood. Ladies vanity has 2 drawers on either side then on the top of vanity on each side is a drawer. Wood posts are for mounting the mirror with hardware included. The vanity measures about 50 inches long and 20 inches wide. The highboy is about 36.5 inches by 19.5 inches and at the highest point at the decorative piece on top it is about 48 inches high. Has 3 larger drwers on bottom and on the top of chest the 2 side by side drawers. The beautiful and interesting top opens to a jewelry box with a mirrored lid.
