Style of this vanity has influences of Mission with the straight lines, and also Empire with the curved scrolled front legs, typical of a late 19th century transitional piece. The 10 green tiles in the back splash framed in oak are very pretty and in great condition. It was very hard to photograph the tiles and marble because of the sun and reflections. The backsplash sits loosely on the cabinet and needs to be tightened. The English oak cabinet has two traditional paneled doors with oval brass handles. There a crack inside the right door that does not show when the door is closed. The simple straight leg design is typical Arts& Crafts. The lower left leg of the cabinet is a little bowed. Nicely proportioned solid oak sideboard with two drawers. Two console cabinets and resting top with railed center section, mirror and flanking cabinets. Top has carved ornamentation and turnings on cabinets. Bottom has carved ornamentation and corner turnings. No veneers or inlays. Hand-cut wide dovetails are tight as can be. Original brass fittings and slotted screws throughout. Carving motif is primarily ribbon-hung acanthus and fruit swag. Less baroque than Victorian. But more ornate than Arts& Crafts/Mission. This is an antique Victorian era shaving mirror. It has 3 panels of 7.5" square. The oak frame is carved. The mirrors are all beveled. The back side is embossed leather I think. Appears to be all original with the original hardware. The mirrors are a little imperfect but not enough to really notice. The only thing I can see that is wrong is the hook on the latch is missing. I love this but again I really don't have room to display it.
