The other bowl looks like it was made to be open but I do not know what it held. There is an open hanger on each side. One could have been for a lipstick but the other side I can't guess. There is a small platform in front of mirror which held something. Also the open bowl in the middle. It seems to be brass with a silver colored plating on it. I can see the brass where the feet are worn. It needs polishing. Of course the mirror is very pigmented. It stands 11" tall& measures 7" across. I can't find any makers mark. It has a beautiful gold rim& velvet(or velvet-type backing/bottom) It measures approximatly 14 3/4" x 9" rim to rim) 13 34" x 8" base) I did not see any obvious markings or stamp. But I am by no means a collector. This was my grandmother's& I have had it for at least 20 years. I have no clue how old it is or where she acquired it. Please see photos for more detail. The vanity was acquired over 35 years ago and who knows how long the previous owner had it in their possession. The unusual crescent/kidney shaped vanity measures approximately 46 inches wide by 16 inches deep by 65 inches from the floor to the top of the mirror. The mirrored portion measures approximately 27 inches wide by 33 1/2 inches tall. The mirror can be removed for easy transport. The vanity has hand painted flowers around each drawer front. Around the knob of the center shallow drawer and on either side just below the mirror(some of which can use refreshing) as well as thin black line pattern around the vanity top and back with a thin gold crisscrosses on the back border ... moreas can be seen in the pictures. The draw pulls are the vanity’s original. The piece has two lovely carvings on its mirror and on the front legs as can be seen in the pictures. Keep I mind that the vanity has various nicks, chips and scratches. I have kept a few of the small chips that have broken off of the one of its legs in a plastic bag. The bigger piece in the plastic bag I believe peeled off from somewhere on the inside of the piece. The vanity has center wooden drawer guides. I am not sure what type of wood this vanity is made of. Or its approximate age, but I can tell you that it is a magnificent piece of furniture having lots of character. Once it has been cleaned and restored to its former glory the vanity with all its beautiful details can enhance your home and make a statement of historic power.
