Everything is over the top and the piece is in fantastic condition! There are levels of Eastlake furniture produced in the late 1800's and this piece is definitely up at the top in terms of quality and craftsmanship. Also the woods that were used. This piece has incredible hand carved details. There are two candlestick shelves that are like carved urns with handles. At the top is an amazing carved wood feather cluster that goes back three rows! The front columns are gorgeous! The carved details are ... morejust wonderful! This is a large piece measuring 54" wide x 85" tall x 25 1/2" deep. There is a HEAVY solid slab of beveled edged white marble that is 48" wide x 22" deep x 1" thick and does not just rest on top but sits in its own custom perfect fit carved edged seat. This piece of marble weighs about 100 lbs itself. The first drawer opens to a solid piece of burl or birdseye maple. That is a sign of quality as that was an expensive wood. The two drawer pulls in the top drawer are original. There are four larger pulls that were used in the two lower drawers but are missing pieces. I have purchased and installed four reproduction pulls and will include the pieces of the originals in case you ever want to try to locate matching one but even a nice set of Victorian Eastlake teardrop pulls that do come up often would work if you don't like these repros. This beautiful Northern Furniture(Sheboygan. WIS) High Boy Dresser(possible Queen Ann style) measures 66" high x 33.5" wide and 21" deep. It has perfect brass hardware which has a oriental flare. Spectacular"Highly Figured Solid Maple" Chest of Drawers Circa 1895 I fully restored this lovely piece.It features incredible"highly figured" solid maple with Birdseye maple veneers on the oxbow top drawer fronts. All of the brass hardware. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made. The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the highly sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of ... morehand rubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction. Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years. The photos show casters in the legs. They will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. Early American Antique Dresser Chest Drawers Country Colonial Furniture 1875
An American made classic. beautiful solid cherry wood chest of drawers.this dates from Circa 1875 This piece dates from the Colonial Revival period. I restore antique and make custom furniture. I rescued this gorgeous chest. It was on it's way to a landfill, buried beneath a dark brown paint.I was intirgued by it's design, but I fell in love with this piece when I saw the stunning wood grains hidden under the brown paint. The wood is solid cherry with wonderful, rich grains and textures. Some parts of this chest may be red birch or maple.The cherry wood is both sapwood and heartwood. This accounts for the varied colors and grain patterns, in this beautiful chest The side panels are cherry veneered plywood.I love the blackened grain highlights on the side panels. The wood has many beauty marks including a small age related crack(non-structural) ... morein the top left edge(see photo) I think it adds great charm to the piece. Just like the nails across the top drawer where someone added a piece of wood to the top edge of the drawer(see photo) I think the top drawer edge looks awesome with the exposed nails and the wonderful colors.The"eye brow" shaped drawer pulls are all original. You won't find more beautiful and unique solid cherry wood pulls, the grain patterns are superb. I restored this chest from top to bottom. Including all of the drawers being taken fully apart and restored. I added a wood reinforcement strip in the back of one drawer. the drawers feature dovetail joinery on the front corners with box joinery on the rear corners.I custom added the trim(solid maple) on the bottom edge of the side panels I restored the entire finish by hand scraping, followed by many, many coats of hand rubbed varnish.The top drawer has a lock,without a key.This lovely chest has hard earned beauty marks such as nicks, dings etc, consistent with any fine antique. It is highly probable this chest was a commissioned piece. This chest is circa 1910-1920. The primary wood appears to be English walnut. Also known as European/ Circassian walnut which originates along the Black Sea.The the secondary woods are maple.The drawer sides, back and bottom are oak.All of the ... moresolid brass hardware is reproduction period style with an antique finish, including the beautiful keyhole covers.The drawer locks are original and works perfectly with the replacement key.The fourth drawer down has dividers with 3 compartments, the middle one has a sliding jewelry box which can be slid front to back. The top I restored with a new walnut veneer over the original veneer which needed restored.The upper drawer carvings on the left and right corners have a few small pieces of carving missing.The rounded/curved corner posts are a great detail especially with their spectacular burled inlays and of course the intricate floral marquetry(just look closely at the close up photo. It is amazing work, with very tiny inlays and using many different wood species) The amazing corner post marquetry is mirror imaged on the opposing corner posts. The upper drawers with the book matched burl inlays are stunning.The delicate arched trim which outlines the upper drawers is a fine piece of craftsmanship. What a beautiful set you've found! It’s a neo-classical high-quality mahogany five-piece bedroom set by the Northern Furniture Company of Sheboygan. Wisconsin, dating from the 1930s or‘40s. If this was period neo-classical, you’d be looking at paying in the high thousands, but this is a very unique copy, complete with the ebonized pillars, the simulated brass ormolu trim, and the diamond point ebony inlay, with brass ormolu style stars. A hard. Close-grained wood, mahogany can be strikingly veined or mottled, as observed in these pieces. The set consists of a four-drawer tall chest. Two single beds, a matching three-drawer chest, and a matching mirror. All finished in a dark reddish-brown color, with two glass tops, and the whole set is all ready to find a place in your home. The set retains the feel of its original neo-classical style ... morehardware. The gilding and black ebonized paint is intact. It’s really stunning. The overall sizes of the pieces, beginning with the tall chest, are 36 inches wide, 21 inches deep, and 46 inches high. The finish looks great, though there are some scratches on the left side, and one of the drawers is missing a bit of trim on the right and the back wall reinforced with small brads, but it is solid now. Antique Hopkins Furniture Co Dresser with three drawers. I am selling this for my aunt. She was care provider for an elderly lady who gave it to her before she passed. She told my aunt it was handed down to her by/from her mother and that it was over 100 years old. My aunt kept it for a few years and decided to sell it. The dress is located in Bowie Maryland where my aunt resides. I don't really know much about it. It is exactly as pictured with some scratch on top left. It measures 34" high with legs. 39" wide, 20" side, 27" high without legs. I am listing this on her behalf. Neither of us knows much about furnitures but she stated the lady told her it is of great value. I tried doing some research on google but couldn't find anything of the same nature and design. Antique Vintage Wood Chest of Drawers Dresser Bedroom Furniture
Used. Has issues. Missing hardware. Top has a huge black stain- see pics 2/3. Not sure what was done to the poor thing. Missing wood. Chunks out, scratches, dents, dings, cracks, etc. This a restoration project unless you like that vintage look. Wood/maker unknown. It appears to be oak to me, but I could be wrong. Drawers work. Antique Original Saleman Sample Dresser w/ Mirror Furniture Jewelry Box 25" Tall
This is an old Antique saleman's sample clothes dresser with a Mirror. Or possibly a Jewelry Box. It has the original finish on it although quite crackled. It stands 25" Tall overall. The mirror frame has a corner issue with a slight separation(see pics) There are some nails on the underside too that look like they are meant to stabilize the mirror, possibly added at a later date. There is a little broken piece under the glass on the right side(see pic) A nail was added later to the back of the wood that holds the mirror in the frame. There is a cigar box top on the back to support the mirror. The dresser only measures 12 5/8" wide x 8" deep x 16" tall. An interesting piece with character.
