Antique Sorrento Dressing Table Box Welcome to my listing for Antique Italian Sorrento Ware Dressing Table Pin Box Late 19 th Century Polished Olivewood with an Inlaid Swallow Row of 11 Sliding Books In Excellent Condition L 5” 13cms x W 3.25” 8.5cms x H 1.75” 4.5cms A beautifully made and very charming little box. Dating from the end of the 19 th century. Designed for holding hairpins and hatpins on the dressing table. Still very useful even today(even if not for hatpins) Unlike much Sorrento ware this lovely little box was not aimed solely at the tourist market and so doesn’t have the name of an Italian town inked onto it. Super antique condition with minimal signs of wear as I hope you can see in the photos which can all be magnified to larger than life(some glare due to polished surfaces and magnification of the bird shows some white ... morelines around it- not visible with the naked eye) I’d guess that the box has been kept in a cabinet. There is a tiny sliver of wood missing from behind the row of books which would have locked the box when the row of books were slid into position. The wood. Outside and in, has been looked after very well and kept in a clean, polished condition. A lovely display item and sure to please the discerning collector. As always. DESCRIPTION: Pair of solid ebony backed clothes brushes with silver embellishments. One has firm and the other has soft bristles. Silver has vacant cartouches surrounded by decorative engravings, both hallmarked London 1907, makers H. F. Daltrey& Company. Both brushes measure 6.5 inches long, 1.75 inches wide and are stamped'EBONY' A very rare find. This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s. When the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since. CONDITION: The ebony is in perfect condition with no chips. Nicks, cracks or scratches, they have a very highly polished patina. Chippendale ladies dressing table vanity. With walnut finish dating from the 1940s era. In reasonable condition for its age. There are scratches on the surface top which could be buffed out. This piece is structurally sound and would be great in any home with a little bit of TLC. The base is burl walnut, with walnut carved cabriole legs, contoured front, and four front outside drawers and one reverse center drawer, all retaining their original Chippendale style hardware. The overall size is 49 1/2 inches across, 15 inches deep, 30 1/2 inches high to the top of the base cabinet, and 68 inches high to the top of the mirror. Overall. Beautiful 4 piece antique vanity set that I was told was from England. In very good condition and only needs a"squeezer" for the cologne bottle. There is a long tray. A large covered powder box, a smaller covered jar that probably held hair pins and hair ornaments as well as a very nice size spray cologne bottle that is lacking the spray ball. The set is unusually attractive and is such a fine quality that I think it might actually be crystal. It is quite unusual to find such a complete set that I think is from the 1920's.

Antique Pine Dressing Table with Framed 3 Sided Mirror
This is a beautiful pine dressing table. It has carved detail around the border of the mirror and on the doors of the table. The mirror comes off if desired. The sides of the mirror are movable. Each side of the dressing table has a cabinet with a shelf and in the middle there is a drawer. Everything is original. It has a few scratches and stains as you can see but nothing major at all. Some of the pieces of wood are separating a very little bit as old pieces will do but again nothing major at all. It's absolutely beautiful and I've enjoyed it for many years. Beautiful dressing table doily in beige measuring approximately 23" across the top. 17" across the middle, 12" long down the middle(not including the tassels) and 17-1/2" down the ends. The young man managing his grandmother's estate sale said that the doilies I purchased from him were handmade by his great grandmother in the 1920s. It is in overall better than average condition except for a small area of the outside edging on the"pinwheel" on the left second from the bottom which is gone. It should be an easy fix. There are, of course, a few areas of age discoloration which are barely visible except upon very close inspection. This is an estate piece being sold as is. Lovely 1927 Antique Hallmarked Silver Hand or Dressing Table Mirror
For sale I have this lovely antique hallmarked sterling silver hand mirror or dressing table mirror. The silver is hallmarked for English sterling silver. Was assayed in Birmingham with the date letter for 1927 and the makers mark D M CC. The piece measures 23cm/9" in length by 13cm/5" across the mirror. The condition of the piece is very good with some areas of miner damage to the silver which I have tried to show in the photos. The mirror is in good order with some very slight foxing to the outer rim but nothing that spoils the look or use. A lovely usable antique to grace any dressing table.
