I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. 2014-12-07 1 SEE PICTURES BELOW Beautiful 18th century kneehole desk. I am not an expert. But I will do my best to describe it. I did have an antique furniture repairman look at it and verify what it was. But he's no longer available to help describe it, due to health problems) It is 29 7/8" tall, 32 3/8" wide, and 18 3/8" deep. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is. The 6 drawers(3 on each side) do not have the original drawer pulls. You can clearly see where the original drawer pulls went through and have been filled and repaired. see pics) Below the main top drawer is a"secret" drawer that appears to be part of the frame. 1923 EBONY & SILVER TRAY ANTIQUE DESK VINTAGE VANITY SET STERLING DRESSING TABLE
DESCRIPTION: An exceptional solid ebony wood oval tray with sterling silver embellishment. The silver has a vacant cartouche surrounded with decorative engravings. It is hallmarked London 1923, makers mark William Robertson. The tray measures 11.5 x 7 inches, and is stamped'EBONY MADE IN ENGLAND' to the base. This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s. When the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since. CONDITION: The silver is in perfect condition with no rubbing. Significant dings or scratches and no missing fixing pins. The ebony is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, knocks or stains. The three pieces all match and were originally purchased together and monogrammed with the owner's initials which could either be CJC or CH. They are all hallmarked with Walker& Hall's maker's mark and assayed in Sheffield over 3 years. The mirror with a'w' 1914) The hairbrush with a'u' 1912) and the clothes brush with a'v' representing 1913. This isn't unusual when the same pattern was sold over a number of years. A large antique silver dressing table mirror with easel back. The silversmith was Henry Matthews and the design is romantic rural. The retaining strap for the easel is broken. The mirror has a bevel edge. The back and edges of the velvet are stained with silver polish. Along the way silver polish leaked onto the velvet. The velvet is discolored. There is a picture of the makers hallmarks on the mirror( the initials HM. The anchor, the lion, and the B for Birmingham) I would rate the condition a 7.5 because it has been polished with creme silver polish by the owner which damaged the velvet. There is a white layer on the old cloth. You can see white silver polish on the edge of the mirror under the metal. ANTIQUE WALLACE STERLING SILVER LADIES' DRESSING TABLE VANITY SET POST-1940
This ornate and beautiful women's vanity set is at least 70 years old. Each piece is marked sterling and has the Wallace logo stamped next to it. The mirror is beveled and has a gently tapered handle. I notice that there appears to be some loss to the silvering at the base of the mirror. But it appears to be only in the area of the bevel. There is a blank cartouche on the back side of the mirror where initials or a name could be engraved; the top of the mirror has several small dings consistent with its use over many years. The hand mirror measures 13 1/2 inches long and is 5 inches in width at its widest point. The comb is sterling and tortoise shell; owing either to the type of glue which was used to cement the comb into the silver top, or the passage of time, the 100% organic material(tortoise shell) the comb is made of, has crystallized ... moreand turned brittle. The comb is missing several teeth as shown; I have saved all of the individual teeth so that a patient restorer could cement them back into the places showing loss; however owing to the age of the piece, a replacement tortoise shell or plastic insert would need to be obtained if the owner wished to use the piece as a comb. This piece also has a blank cartouche on one side where initials could be engraved. The comb measures 7 5/8 inches long. The hairbrush has several small dings on the top side consistent with its use over seven decades on a lady's dressing table; its bristles are mounted into a genuine wood base. The brush, like the other two pieces of this set, also has a blank cartouche in the center of the top where initials could be engraved. The brush measures 10 1/4 inches long and is 3 1/4 inches wide. This is a high-quality vanity set and it looks truly spectacular laid out together on a dressing table. You will not be disappointed when you add this set to your home's decor. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WALNUT DRESSING TABLE DRESSER TILT ARCH TOP MIRROR
Please scroll down under this description for 34 additional views. 19th century antique dressing table mirror. 23" wide across the base, 22 1/2" tall, 8" deep base. The mirror which has a gently arched top is 13 3/4" wide and 17" high. The mirror frame is veneered with a slight convex surface. The mirror supports are solid wood with rope turnings over a stacked round base and are topped with turned finials. There are three simple feet under the bombe front base. The top surface and side are veneered- lovely figuring to the walnut veneer on the top surface. I am not sure if this is the original finish but I think it is- it shows some faint alligatoring and has wonderful rich color. There is an area of veneer loss on the far left end of the base and a little ding on the back of the base behind the mirror support. A ... morebit of wood is missing from one of the supports- it's on the back side and won't be noticed. The mirror has some tiny black spots on the surface- more prevalent and noticeable on the edges. The finish has some marks and scratches but I think perfectly acceptable for the age of the piece. Ornate Antique hallmarked Silver Pen Tray This gorgeous pen tray is made from high gauge sterling silver and exquisitely embossed and pierced with flora. Foliage and scrolls with a vacant cartouche to the centre of the base. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1901 with the maker’s mark of the high quality silversmith, Henry Matthews. This piece is in beautiful condition with no dents. Dints or splits that I can find. The decorative work is still crisp and it sits nice and level with no wobble. Antique Solid Silver Mirror. Here we have a dressing table hand mirror in solid silver. It has a Birmingham hallmark dated 1924. Makers mark W.N ltd(William Neale& Son. There is a very attractive border detail around the back edge, it also has some very fancy Initials on the back. The mirror has a bit of silver missing in a few places near the inner edges but it could be replaced. There are a few tiny dimple marks and feint age related surface scratches on the silver.
