Antique Silver and Cut Glass Trinket or Dressing Table Box This gorgeous. Sizeable piece has a sterling silver lid which is ornately embossed with cherubs, birds, flora and scrolls which are all framed by a roped edging. The almost lozenge-shaped glass body is beautifully cut in the Hobnail Pattern with a Star Cut base. The lid is clearly hallmarked for the highly collected silver centre of Chester with the date mark for 1901 and the maker’s mark of the high quality silversmith, James Deakin& Sons. The central cartouche is engraved with an ornate monogram. This piece is in lovely condition with no dents or dints to the silver that I can find and the glass body has no chips or cracks. Please be aware that this item is 113 years old so there will be tiny surface abrasions caused through use. I purchased this piece at Antique Emporium in Modesto. California July 2003. I simply fell in love with it. The receipt I have states it is a"tiger maple dressing table with Cheval Mirror, circa 1895. I have purchased many items from these folks through the years for my personal enjoyment. I am not an expert in antiques. I do know what I like and this is a gorgeous wood very unusual to me, unlike the other pieces I have collected. I sell it now only due to a move. It is carved. Curvy, graceful, beautiful and graced my entry hall as the show piece that I think it is. I decorated it for every holiday and it is a delight for everyone. Vintage/Antique Dressing Table with Mirror Maple or Oak
Gorgeous old dressing table and mirror. Guessing from 1930s.oak or maple. Been in my family for years. And was in another family for years before that. I simply have no room for it. But would keep it if I did! Measurements: 30" table top to floor 44" table across top 18" deep Mirror is 31" high(attaches to table) Condition issues shown in pictures-top shows some signs of being used and could be refinished or cleaned by buyer. I don't know how to do that. One piece of molding from side is missing. Anyone who knows simple woodworking or refinishing can make this piece shine. Piece will be easy to load into truck. DESCRIPTION: An ebony wood clock with sterling silver bezelled movement in working order. Measures 3 inches in diameter. 3.25 inches tall including the feet and 2 inches deep. The silver is hallmarked London 1923, maker's mark W& Co. This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s. When the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since. Here we have an antique hand mirror! Hand carved with original glass. Wooden. Looks to have gotten quite a bit of use. As the finish on the handle is worn. Very smooth feel to the wood! Measures 12 1/4" long and 6" wide. Believe this to be from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Mirror glass does have a crack across it. Antique Mahogany Dressing Table Vanity, 1890 Era, Local Pick Up Only
This beautifully shaped vanity is very old and in very good condition for age. There are limited minor imperfections from age. I was never sure about the type of wood but now I believe it to be mahogany. It is lighter weight. There are two side drawers on the step-up section and one larger one in the lower center. It has a lower shelf stretcher. No repairs have been made that I am aware of. No oil. It has always been kept in a corner, avoiding sunlight. I never used the drawers, however they work perfectly, original wood knobs. California home with no kids or pets. I believe I am the third owner and I have displayed this carefully for 30 years. The shorter measures 4.5 inches tall, and the taller 6.5 inches, both are stamped'MADE IN ENGLAND, REAL EBONY' to the base. Vanity or desk. Pre-1960 and unknown manufacturer, the only markings on it are a 68 on one drawer and 88 on the other. It measures 30" wide, 6 1/2" deep and 5 1/2" tall. The inside of the 2 drawers are 4 1/2" deep, 6" wide and 2 1/2" high. There is 14 1/2" between the drawers and the ribbed feet give it 1 1/2" clearance to the table top. The back overhangs so it can be secured to the table it sits on, it also keeps things from slipping off the back of the ... moretable. 1912 GENTS EBONY & SILVER HAIRBRUSH DRESSING TABLE VANITY HAIR BRUSH ANTIQUE SET
DESCRIPTION: Gent's Edwardian solid ebony backed hair brush with its original real bristles and sterling silver embellishment. Measures 5.25 long. 3 inches wide, and stamped'EBONY' to the side. The silver has a vacant cartouche surrounded by decorative engravings, hallmarked London 1912, maker H. F. Daltrey& Company. This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s. When the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since. CONDITION: There is a mirror hairline crack to one end. Otherwise the ebony is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks, it has a highly polished patina. The original bristles are a little ... moreworn but still firm and with no discolouration. This beautiful piece was brought back from Japan. Right before WW ll, from an American nanny that was working there. The piece had been in the family forever. I have no idea how old it is, only that it is very old. If I had to guess, I'd say late 1700's, early 1800's. There are a lot of chips of the"japanned" edges. Some of the pictures make the chips look lighter than it actually looks in person. I had an estimate of apx. $500 to repair the chips. Debain was a prolific maker who worked in Paris at 79 rue du Temple. The bird in the hallmark is une bécasse or woodcock. The set was made for export. As indicated by the baraque or house shaped mark- a square topped by a triangle- used on light-weight objects. Both bottles have glass stoppers in pristine condition. A tall dressing table jar with lid and similar decoration 1.6x3cm with pop-off lid. Lid has a gilt gold interior and hallmarked as above. A cylindrical lidded cold cream jar 7x7.5cm with similar specifics to the other screw top jars- the edge of the lid has 3 small scratches together in the silver. The antique Ivory dresser tray is rare. However, with it's bottles and containers. The dresser is 5" high and 3" wide. The sofa is 4" long and the chairs 3 1/2" tall. Antique vanity/dressing table. Child's size? Measures approx. 5' tall(to the top of the mirror. 4'3" wide, 18" deep. In need of some love and a refinishing. The finish appears to have already been removed some years ago or it is just that worn. I don't know for sure though. Peeling and chipped veneer in many places. Is missing the little brackets that hold the mirror to the wood backing. Also missing a piece of glass for the top center(between the drawers) Both of those items are easily replaced. Someone wrote their name on the mirror, but it does seem to come off easily when scraped, so it is not etched in there. The mirror alone on this piece is worth $40.00. Antique c1800's Ladies Opaline glass Dressing Table Set French? Brass? Mounts
These are so delicate and beautiful and they look very OLD. I did not clean them. The auction is for the set of 3 bottles and the vase/mounted stand They were bought from one dealer so I would like to keep them together as a set of 3 bottles and the mounted vase/basket. It is hard for me to date these because opaque white colored glass is sometimes called milk glass and sometimes Opaline glass. According to the internet Milk glass is very old and a favorite glass during the Georgian/ victorian era. Much of the translucent opaline glass especially that which was mounted appears to be from France. Today the BBC roadshow had a similar looking mug with enameling that dated to the late 1700's. These pieces look like they could be c1780-1800 because of the hand made. Hand painted, workmanship. To me they look like something you would find in ... morea Georgian dressing room at the time of Martha Washington. There are two large bottles one with a very rough pontil mark(the other polished) One has a very long and skinny neck with a small opening. I think it is an early rosewater sprinkler. This bottle is 7" high and shows tool marks where the glass maker held and worked the delicate neck. It has a smoothed pontil and is marked with the#30 in old script on the bottom. It has light green enameled beading and swags. The other bottle is 8" with a larger diameter. The 8" bottle has a larger mouth and is highly enameled and jewel like it in its treatment. It has a rough unpolished pontil and an old english#4 painted on the base. The painting is so bright on this bottle it doesn't look like it got much use. Neither bottle has a stopper and I don't know if they were suppose to have stoppers. Perhaps the stoppers were once cork. The vase has a metal mount making it a basket and it appears to be the support for 2 small bottles. One bottle remains and is perfect. I don't know where the other went.
