Antique Sterling Silver Dresser Set; Brush, Mirror, Nail File
This Sterling Silver dresser set dates from the late 1800's. It is engraved with the name"Elva" We have left it unpolished. There are Sterling marks on all three pieces. The insert that holds the bristles is a little loose in the brush handle. There is also a small crack on either side of the back of the brush. There are dents on the handle of the nail file. I've tried to take photos that show the flaws in these items. Please ask if you would like further details.

The furniture came from John Widdicombs granddaughter and was given to my customer.She has had it for a very long time. She said it is turn of the century and/or victorian. Made in the late 1800s or early 1900s. We are not sure what type of wood it is. Appears to be maple or ash. It has a veneer finish. The bed comes with a headboard.Footboard and side boards. Complete bed. The bed measures 54 1/2" w by 70 1/2"tall X 77" This is a long bed and is unusual because its a full or double. The dresser has four drawers and two smaller drawers on the top. The dresser also comes with a mirror. It is a very victorian looking mirror. Antique Sterling Silver Art Nouveau Dresser Set - Brush & Mirror - 294 grams
Lovely sterling dresser set comprised of a brush and hand mirror. The pieces have a lovely Art Nouveau floral design adorning them along with a monogram of initials that appear to read"RHR" There is a good amount of wear on the pieces. Some denting and some scratches on the mirror, and the reflective part of the mirror has come loose. I imagine a professional could repair these flaws fairly easily though. The set weighs 294 grams, though I was told the silver content is closer to 110 grams. The mirror measures 8" x 4.25" and the brush measures 7" x 2" The mirror is marked with a Flag that has F&B I believe, in the field. Then STERLING and Pat'd. This is a truly RARE BEAUTY! Exquisitely etched mirror surrounded by painstakingly cut out scrolled wood topped by STERLING SILVER HALLMARKED caps. Connected with CELLULOID guards. Mirror measuring 16x11 with a inch or two extra for the wood scrolls. So much to tell on this mirror I’ll list to the corresponding number on photos: 1& 2) ETCHING on mirror is superb! As you can see. Different angles produce a slightly different appearance. 3) WOOD scrolls. Possibly WALNUT are cut out perfectly for the Sterling caps. The caps are nailed on with silver headed nails so they become part of the design. I couldn’t make out what the HALLMARKS(photo 6) say, but this has been TESTED as STERLING SILVER! 4) 1 very slight scuff& slight rippling. Only noticeable on CLOSE INSPECTION- NO BROWN SPOTS at all! At a glace this mirror LOOKS PERFECT! EXCELLENT ... moreCLARITY for a mirror this age! 5) SILVER caps are in excellent shape with only a tiny edge piece missing on 2(3mm) scrolls. Center scrolls are both slightly dented in centers(photos) 6) The dark edge pictured is the extent of it& only occurs in a couple spots on very edge. Again you really have to look for them. 7) CELLULOID guards are in EXCELLENT SHAPE& even have a slight SHINE to them! No scratches or gouges anywhere! 8) A couple scrolls have slight dings to the wood on the bottom. Not noticeable. 9) Looks like this used to have handles or maybe just holes were drilled for them& not used. But there are filled in holes on either end of mirror. This in no way takes away from the beauty of this piece. 10) All wood backing held with screws. Nice& flat- screws are slightly countersunk so as not to damage your bureau. CAVEATS: VERY. VERY SLIGHT rippling/clouding, you have to look for it& I couldn’t get a photo. Read description& see photos. This was no doubt a VERY EXPENSIVE mirror when new. The workmanship is outstanding! Wonderful five piece vanity/dresser set manufactured by Wallace in the Normandie pattern. Mirror measures over 14 inches. This like all the other items has NOT been monogrammed. Beveled mirror does have some black small black spots to it but nothing overly distracting. Brush measures approx. 10 inches and in excellent condition also. The 7+ inch brush does have some old silver polish residue on it otherwise in excellent condition with all teeth present. Set has two approx. 5 1/2 by 2 1/4 jars with etched rose. Flower and leaf pattern repeated three times on glass with impressed thumbnail pattern also repeated three times. Again NO MONOGRAMS. Set is tarnished as shown but as with any antique item felt it best to leave as found. This a substantial set with a hefty silver content. The two lids on the jars weigh in excess of five ounces. Antique Sterling Silver Hand Mirror Marked Victorian Dresser Vanity Mirror
Antique Sterling Hand Mirror Gorgeous engraving work. With no monogram Marked Sterling with the maker's initials. I am unable to identify these marks. And would appreciate hearing from anyone who may know. The mirror is usable as is. But could use a new glass piece since there is something going on with the current piece glass, although I have used it like this for many years. Measures approximately 13" long and 5" wide(measured at the widest part) This does have some condition issues. But I think that all of them may easily be repaired if you wish. There is a separation along the upper handle. It appears that someone may have tried to open the handle. I am thinking that they may have thought to replace the mirror? I am just guessing. I believe that the oval piece holding the glass is removeable. I purchased this in it's ... morepresent condition because it looked lovely on my dressing table. I just never bothered having anything done with it. It has a beveled mirror that has added character due to the silver lining wearing over time. There are no notches. Scratches, or discoloration in the wood what so ever. It has not been repaired in any way. It still retains the original drawer pulls and hardware. The casters are still attached properly and really help aid in the movement of the dresser. Their line of sterling items included over 20 patterns of dresser sets, picture frames, cigarette holders, bowls, baby items, candlesticks, napkin rings and more. They were primarily manufacturers of sterling items, however they did have a small line of silver plate items. In 1958, they purchased the Frank W. Smith Silver Co. and today the Webster Co. is part of Reed& Barton Silversmiths. silvercollecting.com) Up for auction today is an elegant antique Webster Company Sterling Silver Vanity Dresser Set. This 3 piece set consists of a mirror. Brush and comb. The mirror is approximately 12 ½ inches long and 4 ¼ inches at its widest. The mirror itself is beveled glass. The ... morebrush is approximately 9 ¾ inches long and 2 ¾ inches at its widest. The comb is approximately 6 ½ inches long and just under 1 ½ inches tall. Each piece has an empty cartouche, no monograms. As you can see in picture 12, the combined weight of these pieces is 465 grams. As to exactly how much of this weight is sterling silver, I can’t really say. The condition of this set is quite good. All pieces are hallmarked Webster Company Sterling(see pictures) There is some light spotting of the silvering on the mirror. Mostly in the bottom bevel area. There are some dings to the brush and mirror that are visible in the pictures but overall they are in great shape given their age. As always. Antique Empire Victorian Handmade Wooden Doll Size Dresser Bureau Mirror 29"
This Auction is for An Antique Empire Period Doll Dresser. It stands approx. 29 inches high X 16 inches wide X 9 inches deep. Bureau has two deep drawers with wooden knobs. All is original on this piece. You can see at some point in time the mirror must of split in two and another piece of wood was added. Piece has a very dark walnut stain. On either side of the mirror there are candle shelves. This is truly a remarkable little piece of furniture that has stood the test of time quite well. Please refer to pictures for further details. for sale a very nice antique quartersawn oak dresser with original beveled mirror and hardware. dresser is serpentine in the front which is a very desirable and somewhat rare feature. it has a great carved harp for the mirror which hopefully the pictures will show. it has abundant quartersawn flake on the top and all the drawers and dividers. the finish is overall in very good condition. There is a couple of dark spots where i expect someone laid a cigarette. the mirror has never been resilvered and is a bit smokey but is in good condition and quite functional. i would not have it redone as the smokey appearance just adds patina as far as i am concerned. the piece is quite heavy and very solid, no loose joints, wiggles, or wobbles. the drawer joints are dovetail, probably made about 1895-1905. it is a large dresser being 73 inches tall without ... morecasters, 48 inches wide, and 22.5 inches deep. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. i can arrange shipping it that be of benefit to anyone. good luck.

Or Dresser has a beautiful finish. it has been lightly redone with denatured alcohol to smooth out the finish as well as a coating of raw linseed oil. There was moisture on the bottom. I cleaned it up a bit as you can see. the veneer on the bottom started to peel, but has been re-glued. I could do more but do not ave the time. The dresser offers 3 long locking drawers. Pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The drawers feature an incredible matched set of 6 original period pulls in the Anglo Japanese Geisha Pattern probably manufactured by Russell& Erwin. The front of thedresser has beautiful incised floral and foliage carvings on the drawers. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during ... morethe Victorian era.
