Marble Top Victorian Antique Bedroom Dresser with Mirror and decorative top
This is an antique dresser with a beveled marble top(marble recently replaced) and candle-stands flanking the large mirror in the middle. The greatest thing about this piece is the decorative top that attaches via pegs to the top of the mirror(see pics) It has rolling wheels on the bottom. So it's easy to move around. The top can be removed from the bottom via screws on the back of the mirror. All in all. I'd say it's in good condition, but has been stored and of course needs a good cleaning. Piece by Joerns Bros. Furniture Co. out of Stevens Pt. Wisconsin. In business since 1898. High end bedroom furniture manufacturer. Mirrors are removable from the vanity by sliding the mirrors up out of the horizontal cross brace that can be seen in the rear photo. Tri-fold mirrors. Small age spot on the top of the center mirror. In the photos the piece has not been cleaned, will look even better after polishing. ALL ORIGINAL. Stool is not available. Nor are the original rolling casters. Small amount of age wear but piece is in fantastic shape. Vanity measures 46" across and 30" high. 67" from floor to top of center mirror. Top drawers 4"+ deep. Lower drawers approx. 12" deep. I think the decoration is hand done, it is especially minute and beautiful, beveled mirror is almost perfect, there is a pinhead black spot, and another almost a pinprick on the edge, but it works perfectly. A wonderful example of fine artistry by American Furniture Makers. This beautiful dresser was purchased at an old estate auction and although a lot of items came from Germany. This belonged to a couple of sisters who moved here from Germany. I am pretty sure they probably purchased it here in America rather than bringing it with them. I am not sure of the wood but it is a very deep dark brown. The mirror has been replaced my me as I wanted to use this on my own antique dresser. The frame of the mirror. And stand are in very good estate condition. See images. I bought this from a dealer in the St Petersburg area of Florida. Their expert there told me this was from the late 1880s. Top drawers have original porcelain knobs. The other drawer pulls are newer reproductions. Some of the dovetail corners were glued and set with masking tape(old repair holding fine) Mirror frame has a small crack in the back that doesn't show from the front. Should be an easy repair. Siverback mirror was very blotchy and replaced with a new mirror. Dresser sides are constructed with wood panels and have some general wear. Finish is still smooth. This beautiful antique dresser has its approximate circa in the 1940's. It is very unique. And one must stand in awe of its beauty and craftsmanship. As seen in the photo, there are six drawers: two small ones under the mirror, two mid-size drawers, and two large ones. A beautiful emblem(unidentified, but which appears to be somewhat of a royal cup) is displayed on the face of the first large drawer. The larger mirror is braced by beautiful, fancy spirals, which allows the mirror's angle to be adjusted. Here is a very large Antique Oak Mirror harp 47 1/2" at tallest x 47 1/4" at widest the wood of the uprights is 2 1/4" thick x 2 3/4" wide. Up for your consideration is this beautiful vintage vanity/dresser mirror. The ornate mirror is quite large and measures 10-3/4" wide by 18" tall. The frame is brass and has a lovely floral& scroll repousse design with a shell shape sdesign on the top. The mirror is made to stand on a dresser or stand and has two brass feet. The mirror is in good shape with no cracks or chips. The frame could use a good cleaning and the top piece is slightly bent and has broke away on one side but still displays nicely.
