I have possessed this piece of furniture for the past two years. And the retail of this authentic dragon writing desk was $8,000 at the time, and the value just increases over time. ANTIQUE DEEP VICTORIAN WALNUT FRAME WITH CARVED OUTER EDGES OF THE WALNUT. Outer measurement is 19 inches by 21 ½ inches. The frame is over 2 inches deep with good original finish on the walnut and good original condition of the gold liner. Frame is circa 1860– 1880’s. The frame contains a beautiful antique print of a woman seated at a desk. Writing a letter. It looks like a watercolor. And could be, but I am selling it as a mezzotint, a hand-colored print. It is from the same time period as the frame. And is probably original to the frame. The print is in good condition with no stains. No tears, no wrinkles. Old glass and old wood backing. Both probably original to the frame. A charming scene– the woman is pensive. Looks as though she is writing a very important letter, with a quill pen. Beautiful inkwell on the desk in front of her. ... moreFramed in an early Victorian walnut frame with 2 original Victorian gold tone liners. One inside the walnut and the other around the inside edge of the mat, around the print. Both in original condition– my pictures and the camera glare make the coloring seem uneven– it’s not. a very few discolorations on the gold tone liner– see my pictures. The outer corners of the frame are tight– no wiggle. No spaces. Frame has old glass and wood backing. Frame has the original mat around the print– the opening of the mat measured from the front is 9 ¾ inches by 12 ¼ inches. Frame outside edges measured from the back are 19 inches by 21 ½ inches. Frame& contents weigh about 7 pounds before any packing materials. Opening size for the glass is just less 14 inches by just over 16 inches. The frame measures over 2 inches from the side. Very unusual carved desk with drawers and storage. The wood appears to be dark stained Walnut. The desk is 25 inches wide. 11 1/2 inches deep and 12 1/2 inches tall. The piece was made in the late 1800's and would be ideal for a computer table or as an office cabinet to store important data. There are three 7 inch wide drawers on the left side with a full 22 inch wide top drawer. On the right side is a 7 x 7 door to a storage area. Under this is another 7 inch wide drawer. The center opening is partitioned to take stationary and accessories. Really nice, usable old piece. It is obvious the desk has been used a lot through the years. We are pleased to offer this Victorian carved pull solid black walnut roll-top desk that dates from the 1880s in gorgeous completely refinished ... morecondition. We’ve gone through this desk and stripped it. Re-glued it, sanded, stained, applied multiple coats of sanding sealer, hand-rubbed finish, and satin sheen lacquer. We’ve also replaced the felt on the writing surface and on the pullout sliders. It has hand-carved poles, dating from the 1870s-80s. We had to re-fabricate the middle center drawer because the original one was damaged beyond repair. The one we made looks exactly like the one we had to throw away, and we recanvassed the roll. The only thing wrong with the desk is that there was no lock on the roll so we will be installing a reproduction. The top pulls down and opens easily, and the drawers lock automatically because of the inner mechanism, but the roll itself will lock. It has molded panel sides and is all molded with carved pulls. The pullout slides are 11.5 inches wide by 22 inches deep. The chair space is 22 inches wide and 25 inches high. The overall size of the desk itself is 54 inches wide, 33 inches deep, 30 inches to the top of the writing surface, and 49.5 inches high to the top of the desk. It was made by the Lincoln Desk Company in 1936( I believe) as the patent number is 1936113. The age of the desk is an educated guess going by the patent number. Nice large full size banker or lawyers desk that has 6 drawers in all including the center drawer. With two additional pull out writing boards. No keys to the center drawer but you can change the lock very easily. Original finish on the wood and this desk has turned pedestal legs. Minor normal wear, all good solid walnut wood with dove tial joinery and the drawers all open and close smoothly as they should with the exception of the deep file drawer. It is a little ... moretight but closes completely. The drawers all have original brass pulls. Overall dimensions are 60" by 34" by 30 inches tall and I have a glass top for this desk. RARE BLACK WALNUT BURL BAKELITE AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC TYPE 34A3 MONOPHONE DESK SET THE FIRST MASS PRODUCED ALL-IN-ONE TELEPHONE IN THE US For your consideration. An absolutely gorgeous Art Deco Automatic Electric Type 34A3 Dial Monophone Desk Set, Anti-sidetone Booster Circuit. This telephone was introduced in 1934 and is one of the first telephones to integrate the desk set and subset into one unit. It is made of cast Bakelite, with rather substantial construction features in the Modern Style. The entire instrument was disassembled, hand polished and protected with Carnauba wax. It polished out beautifully. There are no flaws. There are no repro parts, unless stated. In 1929. After the new catalog had been printed, Automatic Electric introduced two wood-patterned Bakelite options on their Bakelite cases(then only the 1-A desk set) One of the ... moreoptions was the black walnut design that this is. A D-40953-A, incorporates both the transmitter and receiver into one hand-held unit. This innovation was introduced in 1925(with the Type 1 Desk Set) The transmitter is a 5L metal diaphragm type with a heavy forged brass framework, code# D-38192-A, that was introduced with the handset. The receiver is a dual coil polarized type with a metal diaphragm, code# D-5154-A. The newly nickel-plated brass bands are in excellent condition. The dial is a Type 24. Antique FINE Walnut With BrassTrim Writing Slope Field Desk With Keys & Inkwell
This is a really handsome civil war era sloped field desk. It was given as a gift to a doctor in the near past and the brass plate is on the top. This could easily be replaced Measures 20" across. It is 7" high and 10 3/4" wide. This was well used and there are signs of this. But the desk looks great as it stands today over 150 years later. On the front there is a small piece of veneer missing on the right front edge. First picture shows this There is a surface crack on the right end over the brass handle. See in the last picture.
