There is a little card in the drawer from 1967 that could have been ... morefrom an antique store or a repair store. The bottles are ever so slightly turning amethyst in my opinion. One has the entire top part loose but can be easily attached. There is also a line in the crystal(these are pretty heavy) that might be something going on in the glass. It looks like an inner crack on the top part and then there is somewhat the same type line on the bottom part as well. The other one is in better shape. Still. These are really really old and thus the blemishes. The inkwell has black paint on some parts that is wearing but I think that is all original. The drawer opens and closes. There are some dings and such but I think the picture tells a good story. The contents of this storage unit were from Sweden, and so if you look on my other auctions you will see the antique finds that were found with it. Thank you. But it appears to be mid 20th century, probably post World ... moreWar II. I am suspecting 50s or 60s, but I am no expert on vintage furniture provenance(Antiques Roadshow lingo again. could be older. It is solid wood construction with a laminated desk top on wood. The steel hardware and wood fittings are all in good shape and the chair is tight and serviceable. Its original finish shows obvious signs of wear and regular use and was probably actually in a public school environment in its day. There is still some gum residue(though any actual gum"wads" have long since been removed) under the seat and table! It measures about 32" high overall with a 17 1/2" wide by 17" deep seat. 17" seat to floor height. As big as the seat is I suspect it could have been in a High School or even college study or lecture hall, probably not a lower grade elementary school. An average adult can fit in this one just fine. Would be awkward to pack for shipping, but I can arrange private carrier blanket wrap shipping if you'd like to send me details of your location for an estimate(range is usually about $80-150 depending on destination) Otherwise local pickup in Milwaukee/Waukesha area is free. The carving on all the panels except the top surface of this beautiful deck depicts pictures of China's landscape. The hand made construction of this chest is unique. The joinery of the joints and the fitting of the drawers is characteristic of early piece of Chinese furniture. A vintage Wood Desk with eight(8) Drawers. We are pleased to present this vintage Desk for your consideration. Made of solid Wood. The Desk has a Mahogany Veneer exterior with a beveled edge around the top surface. The oval shaped metal Drawer Pulls are original and coated with a dark finish. Eight(8) Drawers provide plenty of storage space, including a double height drawer on the right side at the bottom. Quality construction details are typical, including dovetail joints on the Drawers. The Desk measures 29-1/2 inches high. 45 inches wide, and 21-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks that identify the manufacturer. In quite good condition. The Desk has a few minor issues. The veneer has peeled in a few small spots, mostly along the back edge(see the last picture for a close up) A few of the Drawer stops are not working on the right ... moreside(which permits the Drawers to go in too far) but this is easily repaired. Typical age appropriate wear is found to the wood surfaces, with scattered bumps and minor dings, most having a dark patina from age. Overall, there are no serious problems, and we rate the overall condition as very good(see pictures) This is a very functional Desk. With plenty of varied storage space, and ready to be used as-is. Antique school desk. Except for hardware the desk top and cubby are made entirely of wood. Desktop does have a crack in the top of it with a little accompaning warp traveling the entire length of the desktop. See picture# 3. However there is a conspicuous lack of scratching. Gouging or grafitti. I don`t think this was ever sanded down either. The steel base may have been painted over at some time as I see brush marks in the paint job. Whatever the case it was done a long time ago. I`m pretty sure this was made for younger kids. I don`t think any kid beyond third or fourth grade would be comfortable in this all day. The size of the seat and base are a little on the small side. The top however is full sized. It also is old enough to be sporting an ink well hole. Seat is in great shape. Nothing loose. Minimal cracking if any. No warp. No graffiti. ... moreMeasurements. Desktop. 24 x 18 inches. Seat 14 x 12 inches. Minimum height of desktop from the ground. 22 1/2 to 24 inches. vintage industrial factory metal desk workbench table mercantile wood top
You are considering a vintage industrial metal desk with two drawers. The metal portion of the desk was salvaged out of an old factory by a friend. I cleaned it up. And then added a 3-board, rough cut lumber top. I lightly sanded the boards so there are both smooth and rough places on the wood. I whipped up my own version of gray stain trying to match the desk color. It was close, but regardless it works. Wherever the boards were rough, that area took the stain better than the smooth areas which gave me the look I was after. I have misplaced one of the rollers for the small drawer so it is working very rough. The big drawer works fine. As with any old piece you can expect scratches, dings, dents. chipped paint, knot holes, imperfections and surface rust. Please refer to the pictures. Vintage Antique (Unknown Age) Child's Wood Roll Top Desk - Solid Condition
This listing offers the child's roll top desk. Since I'm uncertain of the age. I won't mislead anyone. I was told it was late 19th century, but again, please judge from the pictures. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I'd be glad to help if I can. And if you can help me pinpoint the approximate era of construction, I'd be happy to learn. The top rolls easily. And the overall piece is in solid shape. I did notice some modern screws were used to replace some older ones on the legs. But most joinery appears to be vintage, in my opinion. Vintage Cub Scouts Desk Pen Holder. It is in really beautiful shape. The Metal is a It has some light signs of use on the wood but very minor. The medal is a 2X2 inch square and is 1/4 inch thick and is in excellent to near mint shape. The engraving plate has some vertical scratches. The engraving plate could be used as is. But I image, it could be unscrewed and flipped to a clean side. The metal parts all remove from the base. Thus even though the base is in great shape, you could re-stain it or use a different one if you wanted a little project but I would personally keep it original and maybe just flip the plate if I wanted to have it engraved and given as a gift. Vintage Child's Wood Desk with Hideaway Cubby Holes that Lower to Become a Table
I found this unusual vintage child's desk at an auction. I am not an expert on vintage furniture so I am not real sure about the date. It could even be 1960's. Please view the pictures carefully as they are an important part of the description. The desk has 3 drawers, I removed the drawer in one picture so you can see the way the drawer slides in and a close up of the drawer. The cubby hole drops down to form the flat top that you see in the last pictures. There is a wooden mechanism using a wooden rod to slip through a hole to hold the cubby or shelf with dividers up or pull it out to allow it to lower. It measures 20" high x when cubby is up it adds 6" to the height, 26.5" front to back deep, x 27" from side to side.
