for sale is a very nice spinet desk that i bought at the belle starr in st. louis. Mo. many years ago when belle star was the leading antique store in the st. louis area. at any rate, it was priced back then at 3500.00 i did not pay that much but the best i remember about 3K. at any rate, it has been in a parlor off the main foyer of my home for years. i have just recently made that room into a bedroom(getting too old or too lazy to climb the steps to my upstairs bedroom) and had to move out a number of pieces to allow for bedroom furniture. i listed a sideboard that was in there not long ago and will be listed a few other pieces that had to be moved. this is a very nice rosewood desk and a great size. i think it is in original finish. it has a slide out front board for additional writing surface and several nice cubby drawers. one of the ... moreknobs on one of the drawers i noticed is partially broken. outside of this, it has no damage or repairs that i am aware of. it is very sturdy and ready to sit in your home or office. the size is very suitable, some are way too large and some are way too small, kinda like the bears bed, this one is just right. it is 37 inches tall, 55.25 inches wide, and 27.5 inches deep. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. if someone does the buy it now, i will pay for shipping within the continental u.s. 48) states. good luck. ps. i took a look at the pictures that are on the listing page. they are quite terrible. this desk is much much nicer in person. i also noted a couple of small chips of wood gone on the top edge of the desk. the photos magnify them, they are small and not really very noticeable and do not affect the piece in anyway in my opinion. the desk needs to be cleaned with new life. it is a furniture masque that really brings life back into the wood and eliminates the dead look to the finish. however, it does look much much better in person.

RARE 1800's Spinet Desk with Crocodile Vinyl Top. Also known as a Piano Desk. This spinet desk is from around the late 1800's, I think. I am not sure if it's cherry or mahogany. Newly refinished and topped with a crocodile vinyl and nickel plated studs. Tapered legs have nice detail. Legs remove, for economical shipping, or easy pick up. All wood ornamentation is in tact and beautiful. Does have a few gouges here and there, that have been darkened, which makes them much harder to see, looks more like a distressed look, but with minor distress. There is also a larger gouge in in the very edged at the front top, see pictures. Work surface has 2 recessed finger pulls. Work surface pulls out to 15" deep(front to back) and 24 1/4" wide. And is 27 1/4" off floor. Bi fold top gives you access to the interior and work surface. ... moreInterior has 6 cubbies. Exterior has 2 drawers. That is one on each side and 1 wide drawer across front. All drawers and lid operate smoothly. The entire desk measures: 38" wide. 18 1/2" deep(front to back) and is 32 1/2" tall when closed. Drawer measurements: 2 drawers. 1 at each side measure 16 1/4" front to back, 4" wide and 4 1/2" deep. 1 wide drawer across bottom front measures: 28 3/4" wide. 15 1/4" front to back and 1 1/2" deep. Has wood ornamentation on front, so it makes it look like a secret drawer. CHAIR: The chair seems to have the same legs. So I think it is a match. Chair measures 28 1/2" tall at back. Seat is 14" wide, 17" off floor, 14 1/2" deep. The chair is sturdy, but does have a slight creek to it, it can be heard, but doesn't really shift or feel flimsy. Will ship in 2 boxes. Antique Spinet Desk either 1830's or 1920's
Gorgeous spinnet desk. Appears to be either as early as the 1830's or as late as the 1920's. The legs, very ornate, actually crew into the base(which is why I suspect it could be from the 1830's period or earlier, however they did also make these with screw in legs in the 20's but the legs were simpler and less ornate) It had been carefully stripped when I bought it and I stained it with a light colored stain but it has not been finished any further. The top opens, the drawer opens, and the are two drawers on either side inside the base that open in addition to cubbies and an upper, small drawer inside the base as well. It is 29-1/4" to desk top when opened. H.E. Shaw Company was in operation in Grand Rapids from 1911 until 1933. Has 2 drawers and 10 cubby holes. Has lockable top. But I don't have a key for it. There was a repair made under one corner with metal braces, I guess it was wobbly. It is solid now, no problems. It has a satin finish on it now or you can recoat it if you want shiny. Folding/ Portable/ Collapseable Desk Like a Spinet Desk but no big drawer along the bottom. It measures 34" long by 20" wide By 34.5" tall. Closed. The legs can be stored inside it measures 8" tall. Weight 49 pounds. There are two drawers and three little pigeon holes at the back. Recent find from an antique dealers estate sale. Not sure of age. It is old and a bit fragile. Was missing knob on front. I just added a brass knob to make it easier to lock. Also. Missing key to lock, but I ground a key to fit and it works. Shows wear from use. A few chips in veneer. The Udell Works of Indianapolis was foundedin 1874. It made cabinets. Desks and bookcases. In the 1920s. People removed the works fromout-of-style pianos and used the shell as a desk. Eventually, furniture companies made desks that looked like, but never were, pianos. In 1927. The Udell Dependable Furniture Co. advertised a spinet desk as a"fast-sellingnumber of pleasing design. A spinetdesk is an antique desk form which has the exterior shape of a slightly higher than usual writing table. Fitted with a single drawer under the whole length of the flat top surface. It is what is known as a spinet desk, which were first created in the 1600's and fell out of favor in the 1930's. Desk has decorative scroll ironworking on the top and bottom. And ornate bronze hardware pulls. Inside features 2 drawers and 1 center and 2 side cubbies. Bottom drawer extends almost the entire length of desk. Measures 45L X 19"D X 35"H. Looks to be mahogany burl veneer. But it could be walnut burl on desk front. Has some scratches and one small spot where the veneer is missing. But overall this desk is in very good condition considering it is an old piece. Finished in a rich brown polish.

These tables are RARE and there has not been one for sale on Ebay in quite some time. This is a great table. I am selling the 301 Featherweight Singer and Cradle separately. The wood shows age but it looks good and is still solid. It is the walnut version. The top is scuffed but the inside desk surfaces are very nice and the entire piece looks great. There is a picture of the wood grain on the inside surface of the foldout. There is a place to mount the pedal and use the thigh pedal that is pictured(it works) I had the 301A in the cabinet and the pedal functioned well with the thigh pedal. I am not sure of the exact year but the serial number from inside the trim is 132465, there is a pic. I get compliments on this table all the time. It is a nice piece of furniture that I would like to keep. I'm selling it to minimize before I move. ... moreThe lower ends of the legs of the cabinet are encased in metal to prevent the wood from being damaged. This cabinet also allows a better sitting position center line to your machine because the left table leg moves out of the sewer's way to support the folding leaf of the desk. Vintage Spinet Desk - Walnut - Hekman Furniture Co. - 1930s? 1920s? (Boston)
Really nice vintage spinet desk- it would make a great computer desk! It is made of walnut. Although the top could be mahogany. The top folds up, as shown in the first photo, like a spinet piano. The tag inside the drawer appears to say Hekman. There is a pull-out shelf. And it has 3 drawers in the front, and 2 small drawers in the cubbyhole section. It is very sturdy and has been well cared for. There is some wear on the finish. Which appears to be all original, mostly on the pull-out shelf and around the handles. It is approx. 42 inches wide. 20 inches deep and just about 33 inches high. The 2 side drawers measure 6 inches wide by 17 inches deep by a little over 8 inches high. Antique Dark Wood Cica 1910 "Bay View Furniture Co." Spinet Desk
The Holland Furniture plate is missing from the left drawer. But the underside does have the paper label, Bay View Furniture Co. Holland Michigan" This is a great Spinet desk built in the early 1900's. Probably around 1910. It has a mahogany top and multiple drawers among other things. The desk is ornate as you can tell from the photos. The condition is better than one might expect from a piece that is 100 years old. The item is for local pick-up only. Spinet Piano Desk - Great Compact Design - Very Functional - REDUCED PRICE
This listing is for an antique or vintage(your interpretation) 1920-1930's sturdy spinet piano desk with sliding writing surface that allows you to have a larger writing area. There are storage compartments behind the writing surface and although it is an older piece. It is still very useful. The piano desk can also be completely closed to give you a nice sturdy, flat table. Dimensions of the desk are: 34" wide x 18" deep x 33" tall. Overall the finish is in good condition with only a couple wear spots that I have tried to show in the pictures. It stands on 4 tall decorative legs that accent its design.
