This desk does have a few issues. there is no key to open the roll top so my husband therefore removed the locking piece on the top so you can simply open and close the rolltop. Vintage 40s Silverplated? England Roll Top Ladies Cigarette Ashtray Butter? Dish
This is a Vintage Ladies Ashtray. This is a metal ash tray. It could be silver plated. But there are no stamps or marks on any part of the tray to prove this. There have been others I have seen online similar to this made in England by Sheffield, but again I cannot prove that it is the same manufacturer. The missing base probably had some kind of stamps. It is round and has a roll top lid. The lid should roll over under the top lid. The outer measurements from rim to rim is 5 3/4 inches across. From the inner bowl rim to rim it is 3 1/2 inches across and 2 inches deep. Around the top rim is a lovely scalloped design of ribbon and bows. On the lever or tab that extends from the ashtray is a scroll design of ladies head. This ladies head is wearing a hat and she resembles a woman from the 1930's. The bottom bowl does have a scroll design. ... moreBut portions have rubbed away. I believe there should be a footed base or stand that the ashtray bowl sits upon. But it is missing. On the sides of the roll top there should be screws that help to make the tray flip, but I did not find those attached with this piece so they are also not included. This bottom stand might also have had the manufacturer stamp on it's base. These other items that would have made this ashtray complete are missing. But I still thought that someone may be able to put this item and these parts to some kind of good use. The ashtray is in good condition. It has seen some use. So there are a few marks inside the main bowl. The outer bowl has rub marks and some of the design has worn away. It also could use polishing. I am not familar with this type of item. Beautiful piece of Americana schooldays of past. The top is ornately carved and slides into a hidden compartment in the bottom of the box. Unsure of the wood type. But the roll top works and moves as it should. There are no outside chips, cracks or blemishes and no evidence of any repair. The only imperfection is that it was used by a little boy who carved his name on the interior bottom. Or perhaps a little girl who had a crush on this boy named Frank. for auction is a wonderful solid quartersawn oak roll top desk. this desk has no veneers and the quartersawn oak flake is as good as i have ever seen or owned. an old man. Long dead, who dealt in many many roll top desk told me that if you had a desk with a 5 digit inventory number that is was made by stickley and brandt. at any rate i would stake a good bit on his opinion. the stamped in inventory no. on this desk is 18173. regardless of who made this desk, it is top quality material and workmanship. the desk is 50 inches tall with a s waterfall top with a tambur that rolls and moves with great ease, no stopping, catching, jamming, etc. it rolls like butter. the other dimensions are, it is 50 inches wide and 32 inches deep. the desk top is 30 inches from the floor. it has the original key cover plate and strike plate on the desk top writing ... moresurface. the old lock has lost it's guts so i replaced the lock. anyway the top will lock if you choose to do so. it has a wonderful set of cubbies, complete with two pencil holders, i forgot to open for pictures and one drawer with a carved pull. i expect there may have been another drawer on the other side that has fell by the wayside somewhere and time in the last 120 years. the remainder of the cubby holes are as they should be. they were never designed for drawers and the openings are a good bit smaller than the ones that would accept a drawer. it has 4 drawers of wonderful construction on the left bank of the cabinet portion, most of which contain dividers. the right bank consists of three drawers, the bottom is a double drawer suited for file folders, it has a divider long ways down the center. i also forgot to open the drawers for pictures. i have used the 12 pictures ebay allows, but if anyone want pictures of the inside of the drawers or anything else i will be glad to send them to you. the drawers all have carved pulls in mint condition. underneath the desk top are four scotch and secure blocks which slide into a groove about 1/2 inch below the top part of the

i have no idea what kind of.Amplifier,whatever this is,its got some dials on the front, its got a couple of holes where you put those ends of the cords, its got a nice front with musical notes, so maybe its not a amp at all. i would plug it in and see what would happen but the cord is brittle. its got a metal handle on top to carry it. its got a roll top that goes up and down. its got a lot of stuff, but i still can't figure out what it does. i put it down in the listing as a power amp,because there is a cord that goes into the electrical socket. the unit is wood. maybe its some kind of vintage amplifier.i am putting it down for $500 don't like my price, no problem make an offer. it also has this cord that goes to this red button on one end and it has those metal things that go into an amplifier or your guitar at the other end. and ... moreit has these two holes for those things you plug into your guitar. Where the knobs are located. There are two of them, and they point to numbers and above the numbers, its hard to see in the pics, on one side it says master gain and on the other side it says treble.Someone asked me for better pics of this area and while i was taking the pics, i saw there were some words above the numbers. i have put in new pics of the knobs,the numbers and the two holes for the cords to go into. there is an $8 handling cost. Solid walnut with burl panels. The glowing finish is in excellent condition with a few mars at the edges and warm antique patina. The removable bookcase has wavy glass doors. Beautiful roll top desk that I purchased in the 1970's from a room on top of a bar in Point Pleasant. I purchased it from the owner whose grandparents bought it in the early 1900's. Antique Solid Oak Roll Top Desk circa 1895
Believe this is RIFT not QUARTER SAWN OAK. It is an"S" style desk, most likely mfg. between 1890 and 1900, notice the hand done dovetailing on the and the carved drawer handles. The locks on the tambour and center drawer are from Corbin Cabinet and Lock Company. It was disassembled in the late 60's and completely refinished. This desk has 2 Pull Out writing surfaces. And is 60"L 32"W 49"H and consists of 6 pieces; 2 Pedestals, Tambour section, desk top insert, and the lower back connecting section between the 2 Pedestals(many of the desks shown here don't have this) Desk is panel sided. Dividers in the desk top insert can be removed for reconfiguration. I have keys for the 2 locks. This desk will dress up any room that it is put in. Just barely fits under lid when closed- then we put bigger monitors on top for viewing from across room- a small flat computer would fit on surface and lid could close. Looks lovely with brass lamps and green shades. Just needs some TLC for minor scratches. Repairs, and recover the back of the roll top to keep it from deteriorating further.but is in usable condition- we just unloaded it! The molded wood panels on the outside go all the way around. So it could be free standing out in the middle of an area and seen from all sides-this would make it useful as ... morea room divider also. There are minor scratches and one small one that needs some sanding out. VERY IMPRESSIVE and BEAUTIFUL wood! Looks like a lawyers office or Banker or Doctor from the old days. just real nice! It has accessories- they are in need of repair/refurbishing. There is a brass swivel ink-well/pencil holder in the center. One of the ink well rings(1 of 3) is gone. It screws to back. And lost screw. Needs to be short so it won't interfere with the roll-top when it is open. There is 4 letter sized drawers. Two have need of handle repair. There are two perfectly good"secret" pencil/pen holders disguised as corner molding. All the slots are long. And they are all there and work fine- great for organizing reciepts! There is a leather hanging trash bin. Which used to fit under the desk, but the leather has disintegrated and needs to be replaced. Canvas would work fine. The holder to hang it with is missing, but when it was there, the whole system was very NICE and I loved it! All the drawers have adjustable slim pieces of wood to change the shape of the interior. NO RESERVE For Auction is this antique Oak"S" Curve Roll Top Desk. Single Pedestal. Made by the"Indianapolis Cabinet Co. Indianapolis, Ind. The lock on the desk top is dated 1884. There is no lock inside the key hole/lock compartment. It has recessed panels on both sides and back. The Roll Top slides up and down. Not a smooth slide. You have to hold both handles to open and close. It tends to stick when sliding. The flat surface of the desk appears to have been refinished at one time and it has a brownish stain on the desk. The top portion of the desk sets on the base. It does not bolt into the base. There are signs of wear in the form of scratches. Chips to the wood and repairs that I tried to show in the many photos.
