Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony. The desk is a reproduction made by the Maddox Table Co. of Jamestown, New York. This desk comes right out of the New England estate. The desk has those wonderful features most folks are looking for, such as all-wood drawers with dovetail corners, and clawed feet. The hardware and locks are the originals that came with the desk, not replacements. The desk was in my family for around 60 or so years, so the desk dates to at least 1950, and it may be older than that- I'm just not sure. The desk is the slant-front style, hinged at the bottom, so it opens up and the front lays flat to become the writing surface; the desk front can be locked. When the desk front is opened and lowered into the writing position, two arms come out automatically to support the writing surface. Inside the desk there are 3 small drawers, and holders for stashing letters and so forth. In the center of the opened desk, inside, there is a closed compartment with no lock; the compartment door is scratched. There are 3 drawers below the writing surface that extend almost the full width of the desk, and each one of them can be locked. These drawers have a graceful bow front(see photos) Above the desk itself is a prominent feature, a bookcase with 2 shelves covered by hinged glass doors that swing out and can be locked. The bookcase doors do not line up 100% vertically when closed, a common problem with these desks. This doesn't mean that you can't close them or lock them when closed, but it is something I should point out. Above the bookcase is decorative trim with a twin swan&#

Very good overall condition, This gorgeous antique burl walnut secretaire was crafted in France around the year 1900. Today. This piece remains very beautiful, with a rich walnut complexion and a highly pronounced grain. The face is flanked by a set of carved columns that run the entire height of this piece, which ends with elegant bun feet. A total of 11 drawers and 1 interior cabinet provide a large amount of storage space, all under lock and key. The locks, however, are quite worn and operate with difficulty. The moulding has also sustained some wear, including a minor wood separation in the front and a filled-in missing piece in the back. Overall condition therefore remains very good. It is marked Handel 7075 and is in great shape free of cracks or repairs. The base is a good match the Handel crocked tree measuring 14" tall and has been rewired with vintage style plug and cloth cord.

For sale is a triple signed Miller reverse painted desk lamp. The lamp has two reverse painted plates. The front side plate shows a rural scene with trees and clouds. The back side plate is pained with a blue sky accented with clouds. Both plates are in good shape without cracks. Beautiful scene. The glass could use a good cleaning on the outside but I leave that up to you to decide what to do. The three signatures appear as follows: 1) MILLER LAMPS" in a box on the socket; 2) Miller" in script on the top face of the base just behind the point where the neck attaches to the base; and(3) E M& Co" on the underside of the cast iron counterweight under the base. These signatures are shown in photos 8. 9 and 10 above, respectively. The back side of the socket(not shown) is labelled BRYANT with a patent date of Novemebr 26. 1907. ... moreThe socket is fully operative, clicks nicely and contains its original porcelain interior and mica insulator. The lamp is brass(except for an cast iron plate on the very bottom) and stands 13 3/4 inches tall. The entire shade is 9 inches wide. By 5 inches deep, by 3.75 inches high. The brass has a dark patina comensurate with its age(probably 1920's) so view the photos. The round top where the top of the shade connects to the neck and pivots has a gap and needs to be pressed together. I don't have a tool to do it. But I bring it to your attention. A vintage. Hand painted decorative porcelain inkwell with two lidded ink holders and the figurine of a 18th C man sitting in the middle, paper in hand. Paint in baby pink and baby blue as well as subtle hues of green and yellow have been used around the well and gold markings have been applied on top. Inkwell is presumed to be early 1900s and Eastern European in origin. It is in great shape for its age. Showing only a small repair on the tip of the frontal center crest(as seen in photos) no other hairlines, cracks, chipping or breakage. The ink holders come out and are 3 pieces each. Antique Primitive Painted Secretary Desk Victorian Shabby chest furniture vanity
100 yr. Old Painted Desk We have several old antique items to sell at my folks old house that I thought would best be liquidated here on Ebay. This oak secretary or writing chest is absolutely wonderful and is so much more attractive in person than the pictures. Every authentic antique painted piece of furniture of this nature is original unique and of its own beauty and this one is no exception. Green color is rich and deeper green in person than with camera flash. The green is likely an old oil based enamel or lead paint. The top surface is glared in a couple pictures appearing a different color but it is the same green color as the rest of the cabinet. The paint is not flaking or pealing but is still very strong adhering all over. Loads of character and charm. The whole piece is solid as a brick and not rickety or wobbly. I don't see ... moreany repairs or cracks etc. Typical wear that would be indigenous to this period and stature. I took a close up of damage on interior of the door around the drop hinge arm. Drawers function well and door closes nicely. I particularly like the shaker style going narrower to the floor as seen in the side profile. The detail in curvature of the drawer fronts is unique as well. There has been no back on the cabinet for many years. I have seen hundreds of secretaries in my days but have never seen this particular style before. This little cabinet is simply divine and could be used in so many rooms of a home to suite your taste. Superb Art Deco sterling silver. Enamel and hand painted desk box/ tray, made by Cartier and fully hallmarked for London 1929. This is a very beautiful and fine quality silver desk box/ tray which is almost certainly a one-off commissioned piece by Jacques Cartier. The tray is rectangular in shape with straight sides. The outside of the box has black enamel with classic Art Deco block motifs to the four corners. The inside of the box has a superb hand painted panel with a monogram in gold letters within a wreath and a poem within gold ribbon'The Fountain of Wisdom Flows Through Books' The tray is 3-1/2 inches/ 89 mm x 2-3/4 inches/ 70 mm and it stands 3/4 inches/ 19 mm high.
