A wonderful antique. Circa 1890's- 1900's, Louis XV style writing table in mildly stripped mahogany veneers, the legs of solid mahogany. There are three drawers to one side, the other side with three faux drawer fronts. There are elaborately cast heavy bronze mounts, the leg corners with lady figureheads. The top has a single piece of black leather having stamped gilt borders. Table measures 2'6" 30-1/2" tall by 5'9" 69" wide by 3'1" 37" deep, the leather 5'1" 61" wide by 2"5" 29" deep. From floor to bottom of center drawer is 23-1/4" tall. Excellent condition: mahogany legs without chips or cracks, veneers all around are complete and original finish. It measures 31 1/4" tall by 43" wide by 28" deep- it has five drawers with what appears to be its original turned wood handles- it has hand dovetailed drawers and is square nailed- the finish is either original or an old refinish- the leather top I believe is an old replacement- this is a chunky solid very well made piece of furniture- it has some minor use wear on the finish. This has the rare hard to find Green Leather top but the leather does have some cracking in it from age. This desk has 4 drawers on the left side and 3 on the right along with a center drawer. The center drawer is marked SLIGH furniture Bolland Michigan. All the drawer pulls are in tact and there is no issues with this desk at all.
