The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. FABULOUS Louis XV French Marquetry Rosewood Ladies Petite Desk w/ Bronze Mounts
A rare Kidney shaped Louis XV French ladies desk with elevated writing surface. Wonderful rosewood and marquetry top. Fabulous inlay of quill pens, paper scroll, and ink sanders. This is truly a spectacular find! We have never had a finer or daintier desk to offer. It does have some normal wear, tear, and damage. I believe it to be around 1870. The drawer bottom and sides are hand planed and hand dove tailed. The measurements of this little gem are 27.5' wide 17' deep and 30.25' tall. We are selling it as we found it in the attic of a coastal Maine home. More pictures upon request for serious inquiries. We have looked for a signature but have not found one, but i believe this was definitely made by an important cabinet maker.

NY(stamped mounts) Item# 130005NLP20 This is a simply stunning French Louis XV Style Antique Bureau Plat Writing Desk with Gilt Bronze Mounts. Crafted by the firm of P.E. Guerin in New York. It features a broad flamed mahogany veneered top over golden oak secondary woods, the top shapely with active movement in the form, projecting over the conforming desk in a gilt brass rounded rim that culminates at each corner in a floral and acanthus inspired mount. Three drawers easily slide in and out of the case, each heavily decorated with a vine-and-acanthus ornamentation framing each element, these flanked by complex pierced acanthus rococo mounts over the cabriole legs that terminate in scrolled sabots. Probably crafted in the late 19th to early 20th century. It's kingwood. With a tooled leather writing surface, a reeded gilded top edge& crisp ormolu mounts all over. This desk has a wonderful shape all over& looks the same back& front. There is a drawer on the front part with a key, which was working, but for some reason we couldn't open it when we photographed it. We have sent this piece back to our restorer to fix& it will be working fine. The drawer is open now, but my restorer advises ... morenot to lock it, because the lock is too old. We could always have a new key cut for the lock, but it's easy to just open the drawer without a key. I would date this piece to around the 1860-80's period, but it could be much older. Satinwood, tulipwood, mahoghany and other rare exotic woods in painstaking inlay. Measures 18 3/8" D x 29 5/8" W x 39 1/2" H. Surface features a basket weave motif with 1”x 1” squares on diagonal. Central medallion contains over 100 insets alone; depicts musical instruments from Renaissance(lute, drum, clarinet, flute and pipes) with ribbon and flowers. Features bronze ormolu: decorative flowers; lock plate and one remaining accent on right front foot. Five drawers(3 outside and 2 inside) sport tiny bronze knobs. Inset pin striping and hand-cut dovetails. Top rolls up to reveal slide-out work surface with original burgundy leather, three ... moredrawers and two cubbyholes. Cabriole legs with tiny feet. Has working lock and key to protect valuables or privacy.
