Church Street Antiques has been trading in London's famous Marylebone antiques district for twenty-five years Specializing in English antique furniture 1750-1920. We have a large stock. Including dining furniture, bedroom furniture, and drawing room furniture, as well as lighting and ornamental pieces. Wonderful quality& great looking antique French burr walnut desk. With a lovely shape. This desk is in very good original condition& has some great features. The ormolu top gallery, mounts& handles are all top quality. Please take an enlarged look at all the images to appreciate all the fine details. The top section lifts off for easy transportation. There is a pull out slide with a tooled leather writing surface, which is quite useful. All the drawers have solid drawer bottoms, fine dovetails& locks too. The back of this ... moredesk is polished too. There is a slight bit of fade in places, but nothing that merits this piece being re-polished. The burr walnut has a lovely pattern& it's all enhanced by plenty of surrounding crossbanding. I would say this piece dates from around the 1900-1910 period& it's one of the nicest pieces I've had. ANTIQUE DESK WITH DRAWERS AND STORAGE CIRCA 1880-CARVED WALNUT
Very unusual carved desk with drawers and storage. The wood appears to be dark stained Walnut. The desk is 25 inches wide. 11 1/2 inches deep and 12 1/2 inches tall. The piece was made in the late 1800's and would be ideal for a computer table or as an office cabinet to store important data. There are three 7 inch wide drawers on the left side with a full 22 inch wide top drawer. On the right side is a 7 x 7 door to a storage area. Under this is another 7 inch wide drawer. The center opening is partitioned to take stationary and accessories. Really nice, usable old piece. It is obvious the desk has been used a lot through the years. This is a really handsome civil war era sloped field desk. It was given as a gift to a doctor in the near past and the brass plate is on the top. This could easily be replaced Measures 20" across. It is 7" high and 10 3/4" wide. This was well used and there are signs of this. But the desk looks great as it stands today over 150 years later. On the front there is a small piece of veneer missing on the right front edge. First picture shows this There is a surface crack on the right end over the brass handle. See in the last picture. walnut 1880's lap desk The item I have for sale is a rebuilt an refinished lap desk from the 1880's. I purchased this item as a pile of peices and reconstructed it and refinished it. The felt is not original but the original covering was badley torn and has no modern replacement. the desk measures approximately 12" long by 8" wide and 4" tall with a satin finish on the outside and inside the desk but bright finish on the desk top. Antique ca.1885 Walnut Writing Lap Desk Slope Box With Leather Pad & Inkwells
This is an Antique ca.1885 walnut writing lap desk box. Sometimes called a slope. It is larger than most, measuring 14"x 9.5"x 4.25"high, opening to 19" long and weighing 9 lbs. The brass hardwear is original to this box. The key has been lost. It has brass inlay that is complete. It has a leather writing surface skiver. The pen holder is removable and the compartment lid has a small bone knob. It is complete with two glass inkwells with brass screw-on lids. The bottom is covered with dark green felt. John, George April 19th 1887" It measures 38" x 23 1/2" x 92 1/2" It comes in 3 pieces the lower section being one piece, the upper bookcase section being another and the crown on top. Large Antique Victorian Burled Walnut Wood Lap Desk - Bed Tray
This is one gorgeous piece of wood. It is burled walnut and is from the early 1800s. It is a lap desk or maybe used as a bed tray. It is 32" long and 14" tall. It is in really nice condition. You can obviously tell it is a true antique but I don't see any chips on the edges, etc. Please ask if you have questions. I usually do not take returns but if you are not pleased with this desk I will gladly refund your purchased price, but you will need to cover the shipping both ways. I also realized I have one negative feedback and did not realize it. I am talking to ebay now about getting that removed. It was for a $5.00 set of door knobs and to a new buyer. SOLID WALNUT W/ BURL WALNUT FRONT ANTIQUE WALL MOUNTED DESK CABINET 1880'S-1890'S FOLD OUT SHELVES& WRITING SURFACE It really is hard to know where to start with this Antique piece. It is a gorgeous piece of furniture! The solid Walnut is in wonderful condition given the age of this piece. This is truly Unique. I have spent at least a couple of hours trying to research this piece or find one like it-I have not been able to find another like it! It is made of Solid Walnut. The wood has aged and seasoned beautifully. It was a true Craftsman that created this piece. The front is a Burl Walnut. Inside. There are five separate shelves. Two are removable. Three are attached to an arm and they swing forward and out. The desk surface has a track where two other arms come out and support the surface. These are of brass. The surface of ... morethe writing area is covered with velvet that was the covering of choice during that era. It is in Good to Very Good condition for the age. It does have some spots and stains on it. This is bordered with a veneer that I am not sure was wood or paper. It has peeled off in a couple of places, but is still in generally good condition. There are doors on each side of the piece that open up to reveal two small shelves on each side. These are the only thing that may not be original, but they may. They are a curved triangle. They do need to be glued in-I would say back in, but they do not look as if they were glued originally. I believe they were cut to fit very snugly without glue, but they would need to be glued to use with anything that has weight to it. The cabinet measures appx. 28" in width. 26" in height, 6" deep. The fold out writing surface comes out appx. 18" It weighs about 25 lbs. We will package it VERY carefully and would send it insured where applicable. 1840's ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT DRAWING ROOM DESK
Be sure to add me to your! This elegant SOLID WALNUT DRAWING ROOM DESK has a lift top with storage beneath and two drawers. It sands on four beautifully-turned legs which taper down to a distinctive ball before finishing with brass tips and rollers. Brass also finishes the drawer pulls. The main keyhole and hinges for the top. There is a decorative wood strip separating the drawer section from the writing top. There are large hand-wrought dovetails on the corners of the writer's top. A walnut cornice tops off the top flat section of the writers desk, also adorned with hand-wrought dovetails. Beautify wood grains flow thought the w alnut piece. The two drawers' interiors have some rough top edges. There appears to be deliberate rough carving of two indentations allowing something to lay across the drawers. None of this is visible from ... morethe outside. Toward the bottom of one of the legs there is a surface crack; and at the top of the same leg. There has been filling repair. The desk rolls nicely and is easily moved. It needs a good polishing. It measures 49 inches long and 25 inches deep, and stands 34 1/2 inches high in front, and 40 inches to the top of the cornice in back. It is finished all around and could grace the middle of a room. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

An antique. Late eighteenth to early nineteenth century, English Queen Anne-Georgian(William& Mary) miniature bureau desk on tall legs. The drop front and drawer front have burl walnut veneer. The case is walnut veneered, the legs walnut stained, the stretchers with walnut veneers. The interior has six walnut stained drawers with brass knobs. It measures 34" tall by 19" wide by 14" deep, the drop front 7" deep by 17" wide. Very good condition: original finish, case boards and legs without cracks. Missing the top skirt to two cubbyholes, some veneer chips here or there.

This is a very nice antique walnut desk insert with a drop down front and six small drawers. It was salvaged from a large two piece secretary desk. Most likely it is English. It measures aprox. 41 1/2" wide x 15" deep, 21 1/4" deep with the front dropped down x 7 3/4" high and the writing surface is 14" deep. It has dovetailed drawers, nice drawer pulls and brass latches that hold the front in place. The leather on top is cracked in the center, the small brackets on one of the open cubbyholes are missing and there is a scratch or gouge on the left side of the carved front that extends to the center which you can see in the pictures, part of the bottom board is missing as well. There is a top section that lifts that goes the entire away across with the molding. Revealing pigeon holes/cubbies. On either side of the piece are large doors.the left side has a grid of cubbies. The right side has horizontal dividers, with pretty ogee divider detail for vertical file storage. Four drawers with horizontal beaded details.they no longer have their pulls but move freely. Reserving a fine burl for the lid and prospect drawer while utilizing a softer and more straight grained walnut for the drawers and case, the desk was clearly designed by a craftsman who understood how to present wood in it's best light. The four graduating drawers are edged by a thin cockbead molding, these flanked by robust deeply fluted classical columns. The interior is likewise inspired ... moreby the Corinthian columns of Greece, the letter slots flanking the prospect drawer deeply fluted with a bead edging at the top and bottom- the crisp way these nearly flawlessly become part of the surface speaks to the craftsman's talent in working wood; the edge of these fluted columns has a tiny bevelled lip that allows the finger to easily grasp and remove the slots from the desk. The prospect drawer opens to reveal three graduated drawers set inside a double-bead edged box, this secretly released from the space when a button is depressed from inside of the desk- by opening the top drawer, feeling along the inside until a tiny knot appears beneath the top, you can press a wedge of wood and pull the tiny box out of it's current space. Doing so reveals three hidden drawers inside the dovetailed box, the back of the box being a rectangular chamfered panel set in grooves on either side and lifting easily to reveal these drawers. CONDITION ISSUES: 1 side of lock is missing a screw. A crack following wood grain across bottom, felt is worn, faded and discolored along hinged area, some separation of the wood in one corner and in the pen compartment there are 2 ledges so I think there's a missing divider that sat there. Antique DOUBLE PARTNERS DESK Dark Walnut from Glove Factory Gloversville, NY 6'+
Picked up this amazing double partners' desk at an auction in Upstate. NY where I live(and get many of my items) It was originally used in a glove factory in Gloversville, New York. The city was named"Gloversville" because it was the hub of glovemakeing for many years. I n 1890–1950. 90 percent of all gloves sold in the United States were made in Gloversville. The dimensions are 76" wide, 35" tall at front-30" tall at seated area, 34" deep. I haven't weighed it but I'd guess It's around 300lbs. The desk may be older than I estimated. But wanted to go with a safe estimate of age. I've never seen a double-desk like this. It has two"hidden" compartments in the front. There's a key to open them but does not want to work. A couple of the spindles on the top are missing and black tape ... morehas been put around part of the leather top years ago to keep it in place. Other than that. There's no real flaws outside of what's shown in the photos. And for something this old and rare from a blue-collar manufacturing company during America's glory days of making stuff right here in the good old U.S. of A. The front and back rails that connect the banks are missing. The front molding is also loose. The drawers are missing the carved moldings on the keyholes and there are a couple of drawers that are missing the stops. The desk measures 29.5" high x 51" wide x 27" deep. The height of the kneehole is 26" and the width is 21" The top of this has a thin writing surface taped on that we believe is leather. Due to the age we are not 100% positive. This is an Antique Gold Embossed Leather Top Lap Desk. The wood has a beautiful patina. It appears to me that the top frame of the desk is walnut and the secondary woods of the side and back panels is pine. The back corners have beautiful hand cut dovetails as seen in a pair of closeup photos. That attest to the age and hand made nature of this piece. The desk was purchased in England. And we are pretty confident it was made there as well. We do not know the age specifically but we are pretty confident it is a 19th Century or older piece. The total size of the desktop frame is 18 3/4" x 13 3/4" The leather clad writing surface is 15" x 10" The height at the back corner is 3" Transitioning very slightly higher at the edges transition to the upper surface. The three sided framed out support measures 17 1/2" x 12 ... more1/4" The desk weighs 3 1/2 pounds and it is a substantial, solid piece. You can see the construction in the photo of the underside and the two photos of the dovetails. The three panels are attached with screws. There are some remnants of some sort of paper covering on the bottom as seen. I do not know what this was from. With the warm glow of the walnut. The beautiful leather, and the great hand cut dovetails, this fine desk would be a wonderful addition to your home for decor and/or actual use! Condition Overall. The desk is in excellent overall condition. The walnut top has a beautiful patina with dings and wear consistent with its age and use. The leather top has a couple very minor scratches that the photo flash highlighted making them more apparent than they actually are. The top is firmly and uniformly glued to the wood. In some of the photos, you can see some slightly wavy appearance that is an artifact of the original creation of the piece, but we will guarantee your satisfaction that the writing surface is as you would expect it to be.
