The bookcase has mahogany"piecrust" bandings to the Gothic doors and the cornice. Original wavy glass panels. Interior with two adjustable maple shelves with flame mahogany fronts. Two ogee drawers are below. The butler's desk was a top drop down front with cubbyholes and single drawer. New green felt writing surface. Two long drawers below over case on mahogany bracket feet. This is a neat lap box writing desk my mom's had in the family for years(she's 86) We're not sure where it came from. It appears to be Mahogany wood. It is obviously used and other than dusting out the inside I haven't tried to clean or polish the wood. The felt on the bottom is well worn but the felt inside is not in too bad of shape. Antique Federal Writing Desk in Tiger Mahogany, with Two Small Drawers
Very old. Very classic desk from the early 1800s in, I believe, tiger mahogany. It's not a museum piece but it has been a beloved piece that has been used, with care. I've tried to capture the beauty of the wood on the top in my pictures. All the edges are slightly rounded from use and there are a few minor scratches and nicks, commensurate with its age and use, but its quality shines through. The desk stands. At its tallest point from the backboard to floor, 34" and the desk top is 28 1/2" from the floor. The top is 36" across and 18 1/2" deep, excluding the backboard which adds another 1/2" 19" total) It has two small drawers that sit on each side of the top, 3 1/4" tall, and their platforms measure approximately 10 1/4" by 10 1/4" The outsides of the drawers measures 2 3/8" by 9" ... moreand the insides measures 1 7/8" high by 8 1/4" across by 8 3/4" deep. The desk has its original brass handles but they've seen the greatest wear. With one slightly bent and the other with a small crack. Very similar handles replaced these, as you can see in the last picture. This desk has been in the family for 60 years and has been treasured for the entire time. I'm now having to downsize my mother's estate and I'm hoping someone will love and care for it as we have. I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures. This is an Antique ca.1827 Georgian Mahogany Officer`s Travel Lap Desk. Sometimes called a Gentlemen`s Lap Desk. It is quite large measuring 22"x 11"x 8.5"closed, 22"x 22.5"open and weighs 17 lbs. When you raise the small partition to the right of the center compartment there is a secret space where a written dated note was found. All of the brass hardware is original. The key has been lost. It has a dovetailed full length drawer. The inside Writing Surface is dark brown Leather with gold stamped embossing. It has two inkwells. The bottom is covered with dark green felt. This American made 1910 Arts and Crafts period classic roll top desk is solid mahogany with the almost striped figured mahogany veneer and a superb satiny finish. In the left hand drawer is the original"stamp" of National Desk as well as a handwritten note with additional information. One of the previous owners wanted to make sure that any easily passed in reference to the company who built the desk would not be lost. There are manufacturing numbers on the desk. However, it is very difficult to locate a manufacturer with few clues. At the top of the ... moredesk is a great wide shelf and a wood gallery of sorts. All of this wood has fabulous grain! The C roll top glides open smoothly to reveal a wide expanse of work surface available as well as the small cubicles or pigeonholes and small drawers for papers. The cast brass knobs and inset brass pulls are original and there are three small brass knobs missing from the inside drawers. Additional work space is available on each of the top drawers which have"shelves" at the top of the drawers and underneath this flat work space is drawer space. There is one large file drawer and all of the drawers on the right side can be locked down. Drawers are dovetailed with drawers of mahogany and very deep to allow for lots of storage. The original brass feet protected the legs from when the floor was mopped. One of the drawers on the bottom reads"sample fruit( mahogany" for Joe 1879. Beautiful Antique Chippendale Style Mahogany Secretary Desk
This has been in our family since it was bought new- probably in the 1920s- maybe a little earlier. It is in very good condition- original finish and all original hardware and glass. It is very solid. And inside it has various neat cubbies, including two hidden compartments. It has claw feet and a lot of nice details. I have looked around, but haven't been able to find another one exactly like it. The manufacturer's label is long gone, but it is a quality piece(the original owner had a seat on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange) We would keep it but can't find a place to put it in our house.

Contact for further details. 67W 41D 30.5H This magnificent traditional desk is finished on all sides so can be placed in the middle of the room or anywhere to display this showpiece. It has just the right amount of molding so as to have a vintage yet modern stately look. The desk has an extra large executive size surface with a total of eight drawers with movable wood dividers for each drawer. All of the drawers feature old fashioned craftsmanship with finely crafted dovetail joints that interlock to form a flat edge at the corners and sides thus eliminating the need for nails or screws. The right hand side is a double drawer deep enough for hanging files. Not sure if this is original to the piece but it appears that at some point. A metal attachment ... morewith a sliding rail for organizing manila folders was added to the bottom of the drawer. This can be easily removed if you prefer to use a metal cage for the file drawer instead. The desk has all original hardware and two pull-out shelves on either side of the desk. All drawers slide out effortlessly and lack the modern steel hardware on the outside of the drawers as sometimes used in more modern furniture. Giving it a feel of yesteryear. A Drexel stamp of authenticity is on the bottom side of the desk. This piece is pre-owned and being sold as is. And as might be expected due to its age and use, has scratches, blemishes, knicks, gashes or scruff marks and is being sold as is. This item will benefit from an overall polishing, touch up in some spots and replacement of thin molding where worn or missing. This auction is for an antique SOLID MAHOGANY slant drop top desk. It has all sold wood drawers mahogany on all sides bottom with tongue and groove fitting etc. It has a good finish on most parts and there is only a few spot that have some minor damage. The screws for the sliding hinge on the left side need to be repaired but since this desk top was made too be held with only one hinge it is still solid. There are 3 brass keyhole locks. There are 6 drawers 2 in the desk and 4 on the outside. In the one drawer there is a sticker that says this piece of furniture is made of SOLID MAHOGANY and there is a shield symbol with a S&T trademark including a symbol of a tree and a dresser.
