Bound Feet or Lotus Shoes - Asian Antiques
From my personal collection- a unique pair of bound feet or lotus shoes. These shoes measure approximately 3 inches across the bottom and a little over 5 inches from top to bottom. They are from a time when Chinese women had their feet bound as children to keep them small- small and in the shape of a lotus blossom. The smaller the foot. The more desireable. This practice, of course, caused much discomfort and pain to the woman or child but was a part of the culture at that time. This practice has since been discontinued and made illegal. These shoes are in nice condition but do show some signs of wear and age. Some fraying to the ribbon- leather pads on the bottom. Please look carefully at the pictures to determine your own opinion of the condition. The colors are peach. Turquiose, green and blue. Large and BEAUTIFUL pair of FRENCH cast brass/bronze and marble candelabra date from the 1900s. They are heavy(6# each) and very well made with spike candle holders. The metalwork is straight and true. The design is flowers. Leaves, and acorns, moving from VICTORIAN into ART DECO eras. EXCELLENT condition ANTIQUES with no damage of any kind. They are 19" tall, 5" at the marble base(black/grey/gold) and the candle placements are 9" across. There are numbers visible on the leaves, 1220 and 148. These may be inventory numbers. Also a signature is present on the main leaf stalk in gold tone but is indecipherable. These are beautiful!

Peck Stow& Wilcox Company I found these great Owl Andirons in my 94-year-old father’s estate. They’ve been in my family for as long as I can recall. I remember as a boy staring at the yellow glass eyes as the fire lit them from behind. These very beautiful(and very heavy. Each one almost 7 pounds) Perched Owl Andirons are in amazing condition. There are NO breaks, cracks or signs or past repairs. The yellow glass eyes look just like new, and the light of the fire makes them glow like the owl is alive! It is rare to find all four glass eyes in PERFECT condition; there are no cracks. Chips or scratches on the eyes. The Owl measures 15.5’ tall and is 9.75” wide at the base. The firedog(the piece that the logs rest ... moreon) measures 14.75” long. One of the firedogs is missing. They sell replacement firedogs at fireplace shops and it simply slides into a track on the back side of the andiron. The markings on the inside of each andiron are P S& W Co. There are two other markings a‘G’ and‘S’ stacked over one another to the left of the company stamp. There is a hole in the center of his knees. I am not sure if he was holding something like a fishing rod or if it were meant for something else. He measures aprox. 13" tall by 5" wide at his biggest point. He does have wear/tear from age, and a few good chips out of his hat(see pictures) this just gives him more character, He is truly a historic piece of Americana history.
