Solid Mahogany Empire Library Bookcase
This antique Empire library cabinet/ bookcase would make a beautiful addition to your home or office! It has been dated as early as 1880 to as late as 1910. It's roomy interior has eight shelves that can be used to hold your favorite books or collectibles. There are 6 adjustable shelves and the bottom shelves. It is made of solid ribbon mahogany. The cabinet has it's original wooden back(with some restoration) and original wavy glass in the doors. The cabinet has a key. But it is recommended that it isn't used to lock the cabinet doors regularly as they are a bit tight to lock. This stunning piece has been restored and refinished with a hand rubbed wax finish leaving the wonderful patina and gorgeous original wood tones. I can provide additional pictures if needed. The library bookcase/ cabinet measures 56" wide x 55.5" ... morehigh x 17.5" deep. As with any antique. It does have marks of age, but there are just a few and nothing major. Fantastic Bookcase It is with a heavy heart that I am parting with my favorite piece of furniture. This is a great bookcase and it is in exceptional condition. I never thought I would sell. But I am going with a larger one. This is a turn of the century piece, more likely about 1880's, not positive. There are two nicks on the top. One I show in the photo's the other is not really visible due to location. Rock solid piece, glass is great, shelves sit sturdy with no rocking. Drawers work well. Shelves are adjustable to any dimension you would want basically. This is a very. Very nice piece and I have only good things to say about it. Here is a terrific late 19th to early 20th century Empire style three section one piece walnut bookcase with fluted columns. Octagonal feet with casters and dentition across the top of the front as well as old glass. This large functional old bookcase stands 65 inches tall and measures 74 inches wide by 18 inches front to back, with the feet being it's widest point. The top board on the bookcase itself is 72 inches long and 17 inches deep front to back. Inside the bookcase, the internal measurements of the bookcase on each end is 23 inches wide by 56 1/2 inches tall and 13 1/2 inches deep, while the central section measures the same height and depth but is 22 inches wide. Each of the three sections offers it's base as well as three additional adjustable shelves for storing books, with each of the shelves measuring 12 inches deep with ... morean additional inch beveled edge at the front. The old glass is completely intact and free of any cracks or breaks. The bookcase does have old lock mechanisms but I have not located a key to work them at this point. Overall this bookcase is in very good condition for it's age, with only two small spot across the front with any damage to the veneer and potential easy restorations if the new owner desired. There are a few minor nicks and small scratches to one side of the case but otherwise this bookcase is in very good condition for a piece it's age. We are proud to offer a beautiful original French antique cabinet. Circa early to mid 1800s. Gorgeous and intricate carving. Original wavy glass. This is an imposing and substantial piece. It is in a top and bottom section. The bottom is 39 inches tall and 35 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The top shelves are 48 inches tall and 43 inches at the widest point(including molding) and 12 inches deep. Overall. It is 87 inches(7 feet, 3 inches) tall and 35 inches wide and 20 inches deep at its extremities. Condition is very good for a piece nearly 200 years old. In certain places you can still see the square-headed nails used in its construction. Of note: The bottom door is stable but can benefit from a re-hinging. There appears to have been a recent(in the last 20-30 years) attempt to re-hinge. Causing a chip in the wood. This can be readily repaired ... moreand we do have the missing chip that can be re-glued. There very top board(above the shelves) is missing. This is not evident unless you open the case and look inside and can be very easily remedied with a painted board. Two small strips of decorative molding at the base are missing(one is lost. The second has fallen off and can be re-applied) Again, given the small size and dark color, not something that is readily evident. The lock is a bit stubborn and might use some oiling. 18th Century Provincial-Style Two Door Bookcase P-119 This is an 18th century French Provincial styled two door hand carved bookcase made of oak wood with a dark finish. Inside there are two removable and adjustable wooden shelves. The left door has two locks on the top and bottom edges inside to lock the door in place. The bookcase has two bottom drawers with simple iron drop handles and ornamental key plates. The left hand drawer is missing its drop handle. This most attractive solid mahogany shelf dates largely from the early 1800s and was re-purposed and refinished in the early 1900s when the back was replaced and the spindle gallery was added. It measures a most usable 33 ¾” tall x 22” wide x 7 ½” deep overall and boasts gracefully bowed shelves with reeded face moldings. A finely cut trim board on the top and a sweet hand dovetailed(pine secondary) drawer. Top shelves are 7 1'2" tall x 5 1/2" deep(5" at sides because of the bow) the bottom shelf is 13 1/2" tall x 6 1/2" 6" at the sides) The finish is appealing and distressed; you will note chips/losses on the front and back corner of the base as shown.
