The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. The two boards on the top are good and strong. It is a little dirty but will clean up nicely. Pictures will show you views of this item. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. This was a earlier restoration by some one else and lables were removed, so not sure of maker. But from construction would guess is either Gunn or Weis. 1900-1915 Globe Wernicke Quarter Sawn Oak Stacking Bookcase Section that has the banded sides and is all original with original sticker in the back Pattern 113 grade 299 Standard E 13 1/2 unit Globe Wernicke Co. It is approx 13 1/2" deep 34" wide and 15 1/2" tall. The original glass is good. The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. Lovely early 1900's Globe wernicke stacking quartersawn oak bookcase. 3 stacking units with a seperate contour top and contour base for a total of 5 pieces. Bookcase is stained black. All sections labeled Globe Wernicke Grade 297 which is quartersawn figured weathered oak. All sections have original bands around each unit. Each section has original brass knob on door, and each section has original antique wavy glass. All doors open easily and have original scissor mechanisims. 1900's Quarter sawn oak barrister/stacking bookcase drawer front only. It is approx 32 1/2" x 4 5/8" I only have 1 knob/button and the other is missing. The finish could use some sprucing but is original. There is a small piece that is broken off on the back where the drawer bottom would fit but I have the piece to re-glue it. The quartersawn oak on the bookcase is beautiful and the finish is all original. 7 seperate pieces that stack on each other. Waterfall top and base. The base has a desireable drawer on it. Just acquired out of a Private. Midwest estate, we are able to offer this exceptionally nice, ~ circa 1910 era OAK STORE DISPLAY CABINET ~. This unusual display cabinet stacks like a barrister bookcase, and has 5 sections. There are three larger middle sections and it has a base and crown. It is a very well made cabinet, with drawers that are dovetailed, front and back. The estate where this was acquired from, was fairly certain that it is from the old Historic Lion's department store that was in downtown Toledo, in the early 1900's. This cabinet was used to display clothing, and it even has one of the old ~ GARTERS~ tag, still in the door front. It is a nice large size measuring 7 feet 9 inches tall by just over 4 feet wide and is 27 inches deep. There are 18"glass front" drawers that measure about 15 inches wide by 4 inches ... moretall by 25 inches deep. Each drawer has a brass tag on the top front, to place a label showing what is in the drawer. There are also several slots for dividers, in every drawer to help you keep your items separated- see picture# 12. The top two" Glass Front" sections open like the barrister bookcases you see. They measure 14 inches tall by 25 inches deep by 47 inches wide. The bottom" Two Sliding Doors" is for storage to hold your extra inventory, and it measures 18 inches tall by 47 inches wide. The nice thing is, that it is just under 8 feet tall, so it would fit in most homes or businesses. The front is mostly all quarter sawn" solid" oak and the sides are oak as well as a secondary wood. This cabinet would have been displayed, side by side, with other cabinets. It is certainly the only one like it that we have ever seen, and is really a wonderful antique display cabinet. Let me start by saying we have not cleaned or oiled this unit and it can look far better. Each of the sections are tight and the unit stands sturdy. There are many small issues with wood corners and trim pieces but the unit as a package is very nice. It measures overall at 58” tall x 33” wide x 26” deep including the drawer handles. There are four original pull rods and one replaced escutcheon. I'm guessing Globe-Wernicke though it is not marked. Original Oak Arts& Crafts/ Mission Barrister Stacking Lawyer Bookcase Top by Macey(like Globe. Ogee, etc. This is an original Macey bookcase top. This is from the quartersawn oak models(many of them had claw-footed bases and vertical veneer drawers) Very hard to find item. As you can see in photos. The label has worn off some, but you can still make out the Macey name. I am not sure what letter size this is, but the dimensions seem to correspond with size D. Overall measures approx: 34" long x 15" deep x 3 2/16" high Underside frame that fits onto the case measures approx: 34" long x 14" deep As shown in photos. This is in used condition and shows wear. The front profile looks very good for its age and should blend very well with well kept bookcases. The top veneer shows more wear than the front with discoloration, ... morenicks and scratches and some splits, but if this is an issue, you could rejuvenate it with stain and oil/ shellac/ polyurethane. If you want a uniform look, you could lightly sand the entire surface and then add stain, plus sealant. However, because this is the top of a bookshelf you will likely rest items on it to cover imperfections, or it will be so high up that no one will see it. The rest of the top looks to be in normal used condition for its age. Some nails have pushed out and may need to be gently hammered back in place(though I think I got all of them) Please examine close ups of all photos and ask all questions. Questions? Remember. All 3 sections have the desirable paneled sides. Magnificent quartersawn oak- a classic 1910 era oak office file. Perfect for expanding your current ... morefile collection. The files have normal surface wear; the top cover section has a stain and 1 deeper scratch; the backing wood on the larger bottom file is loosening but backing wood is an easy fix if desired. The photos should tell you a fine idea of the condition of the 4 section. Overall very good and quite solid. The oak has a wonderful aged patina. We would prefer a local pick-up. Antique OAK MACEY STACKING BOOKCASE TOP SECTION This is a great original old oak stacking bookcase top for a Macey's lawyer's stacking bookcase. It is in marginal condition as shown. Some of the veneer has buckled and fallen off the top, Could be profesionally repaired with out to much trouble. It is a 10 in. deep base. It is 34 inches wide and stands about 3 inches tall.
