It is in the original old dark ... morereddish brown stain finish. This has four glass doors and plenty of space for books. The overall size is 78 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 60 inches high. The side compartments are 20 inches wide and two shelves are behind each door. The center section is 31 inches wide and has three shelves. The overall condition is good. There are a few minor pieces of molding missing, one keyhole cover is missing, and is in good overall condition for being 130 years old. It has panel sides, carved columns, multi-molded edge on the breakfront and carved pillars. It is an impressive bookcase with a few minor issues. We are pleased to offer this great Victorian bookcase. The maker of this is unknown to us. This is not a reproduction. The bookcase has been refinished and restored with a new back and two shelfs. It was finished in a honey color. This is made from either maple or cherry under the stain. This has carved designs above the glass panels on the doors. The top has a broken scroll style pediment backsplash with carved and applied acanthus leaf design. The doors have their original wavy glass and the original key as well. This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. This side by side has a drop front secretary on one side and a glass door bookcase on the other. There is a bevel mirror at the top of the secretary side. Just below it sits a lamp shelf. When an oil lamp was placed there the mirror would reflect to illuminate a larger area. The mirror appears to be the original; it has some dark spots and discolored areas. There are applied scroll moldings around the mirror and ... morethe moldings on the top of the bookcase side match. The lamp shelf has a ring stain on it as well as some marks and a little discoloration, typical of a piece this old. One of the moldings on the bookcase side is split. The finish is matte and smooth. The feet are carved paw and clay style. The shelves in the bookcase have been replaced with 5 glass shelves that are adjustable. Just below the drop front desk is a drawer and then a door with a lock. I do have the key. This door has a small piece of veneer missing just below the knob in the keyhole area. I do not know the maker or exact date this was made. It is antique and will not be perfect. Measurements are: 72 1/8 inches tall, 38 7/8 inches side to side and 12 7/8 inches front to back. This is a really nice four door quartersawn oak bookcase-2 glass doors and 2 blind doors. When I original purchased this cabinet I thought it was a Danner sliding door bookcase. I am not so sure of that. May have been made by another company(Globe) but has the same type operation. Two doors on each stackable section slide back and forth. Adjustable shelf in each section. We have refinished this piece and it is in excellent condition with a smooth and even finish. Original wavy glass and also note the brass handles-rather Arts& Crafts style I would say. Also from the same estate I purchase an almost identical unit but it has four glass doors, two on each section-my stock number 14477. This barrister/ lawyer's case has a thick glass window that lifts and slides into the case. And and overall rugged and sturdy design that was built to last many decades of office abuse. It has a classic putty gray exterior finish and an olive drab green interior. I can't find a maker's stamp anywhere, only an old Georgia Power tag inside and a sticker designating it for the Engineering& Architecture dept. The glass door still slides and operates smoothly, and there are no dents or serious cosmetic damage. There is some rust on the underside of the cabinet, which can be seen in the last photo above. Up for consideration are 6 matching Arts& Crafts"Prairie School" Antique Leaded Glass interior Windows set in Oak Cabinet bookcase door frames. Overall dimensions are 49 1/2 inches tall by 12 1/2 inches wide by 7/8 ths inches thick. The stained glass panels are well made with a copper colored leaded finish. The original key is provided but is stuck in the lock. Most of the hinges are intact as well as the interior latch mechanism for each other half of the set. The finish is all original with slight discoloration to one part of the frame on one of the panels. There is one piece cracked on that same door.
