Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. This is a rather rare quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. Have not had one of this style in many years. Usually referred to as a'Canadian' barrister bookcase. Not sure why but assume they were manufactured in Canada. Like most other barristers except the front windows are rounded on each side-makes for an interesting look. This piece has been refinished and is in excellent condition. I notice everything appears original but one of the scissors closing mechanisms I think has been replaced-looks and works well. Barrister 4 Stack Oak 1915 Antique Bookcase. A four stack"barrister" or lawyer design bookcase is all original from about 1915. The original deep finish is well preserved with a little wear for antique character. Top and base sections are also stacking on this antique furniture from Denmark. Three sections accommodate books up to 10" tall. One section up to 12" tall and all are 9 1/2" deep. Doors have original wavy glass, they lift up and slide in. Antique Mission Quartersawn Oak Hale/Macey Barrister Bookcase
Great old barrister. All oak in original finish. Good patina. Some alligatoring on one shelf inside. Measures 34 1/2 wide. 12" deep and 45 1/2" tall. Bottom shelf is tallest at 14 1/4" and is labelled Macey 912. Top one carries a Hale label and is 10 1/2" tall. Center one is the same as top but is unsigned. I am certain it too is Hale. Bookcase is banded with what appears to be copper and a hammered/leopard appearance. The two top sections were scissored at one time. Hooks are there. Metal scissors are not. Glass doors do move properly despite this. All glass appears to be original. There is some warping of the wood panels in the back. Just a sign of age and has no affect on appearance or performance. It stands 51& 1/4” tall to the top of the back. 34& 1/4” wide and 12” deep. The two upper sections measure 11” tall and the bottom section is 9” tall. It weighs 90 lbs. Made of quartersawn oak. These barrister bookcase parts include a top, base, and two side pieces. The condition is very good with a bit of thinning of the veneer on the left side of the top. This should be visible in the second picture. We have, also, photographed the top sitting on the base so that you can see they are compatible. This was, probably, Globe Wernicke, however, there is no label to confirm that. The top is 34" wide and 12" deep. The base is 34" wide 12 1/2 inches deep and 6 3/4 inches high. The side pieces each measure 12 3/16" wide X 15 1/16 high.

Globe and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 2 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Super original finish which is smooth and even. The Globe Wernicke company(a competitor of Macey and others) made many fine styles of barrister bookcases(sometimes called lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase) but none rival their'Ideal' model. With fancy carving. Columns, and serpentine front, they were not rivaled in the sectional bookcase market. Note the following in this quartered oak unit: dentil molding along top, leaded glass on top door with beveled glass on all the other doors, step out base with drawer, raised panel sides including the base, fancy carvings on top and bottom ends. Barrister Bookcase with Bottom Drawer Oak Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak
We are offering a wonderful oak barrister bookcase by Lundstrom. It has four sections with a drawer at the bottom. The entire piece is made of quarter sawn oak and the doors still retain the original wavy glass. The knob on the bottom door is slightly different than the other three. There is some lifting of veneer on the very top of the bookcase. This is not obvious because there is trip all around it. Overall this piece is in very good condition and looks beautiful. It has aged to a nice. Rich color. There is a label in the top section. The entire piece measures 34 1/2" wide and is 57 1/4" high. ANTIQUE MACEY NO. 25 BARRISTER BOOKCASE & OAK DESK - GLOBE WERNICKE TYPE STACKER
I have a rather hard to find Macey Bookcase with drop front desk. Desk is in need of restoration. Lid is cuped and will not close easily, someone drilled a small hole below the lock, I assume it was to aid in opening the lid. Interior with all the shelves is in good order, one of the lid arms is missing, veneer is missing on the bottom part of the lid. Desk top is made to have additional bookcases stacked on top. Unit measures 44 inches tall by 34 1/4 inches wide by 16 3/4 inches at its deepest point. Bookcase area is 12 inches deep by 13 inches tall and about 32 wide inside measurement. Door is probably not the right one but I think it could be made to work, It is wide enough but looks like it is about 3/4 inches too short, if you added a small piece across the top it would probably work. Not sure how the slides work. Has nice pillars on ... morethe front, all in all its a pretty neat old piece and deserves to be brought back, hope someone out there can do it. I have treied to cover what i think is mostly wrong with it, I am selling with PICK-UP ONLY so if you do not like it you will not have to take it. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Stacking Mission Barrister Lawyers Bookcase
Early 1900's stacking oak barristers bookcase. Rare Arts and Craft grade 798 1/2 Early English Oak finish. This bookcase has a lovely mission arts and craft look. Each section is labeled with the stickers that read this finish. The bookcase is 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep and about 66 inches tall. The quartersawn oak on the bookcase is beautiful and the finish is all original. 7 seperate pieces that stack on each other. Waterfall top and base. The base has a desireable drawer on it. All sections including the drawer have original brass knobs. Each section has its original old antique wavy glass and the doors open nicely. The bands around each section are original and are the dull brass trim. The top of the bookcase is in outstanding conditions with no issues. There is only slight wear to the bookcase. Vintage 6 Shelf Dark Oak Globe Wernicke Modular Barrister Bookcase Glass Front
Practical and attractive vintage modular barrister bookcase made by Globe Wernicke of Cincinnati. OH. Aged dark oak has a wonderful aged patina and, along with the glass front doors, will frame your items beautifully. Brass brackets support the sides and a molded top and bottom unit give this piece cohesion and structure. Each of the six sections in this flexible shelving can be separated and rearranged as necessary. Each shelf has one of three paper Globe Wernicke tags at the back. See pictures for examples of each. Unsure of exact age, but this piece most likely dates from the first half of the 1900's. Overall. This bookcase is in good condition, however it does have some signs of minor water damage and oxidation to the metal parts. Four of the six knobs for opening the glass shelf fronts are also missing. Two of the units have separation ... moreto the wood on one side. There are also some small nicks along the edges and other signs of light wear. No cracks or chips to the glass. Assembled. The shelves stand 78 1/2" tall and measure 34" wide and 12.5" deep.
