And a clever roller latch/ throw bolt system at the top/bottom of both doors. When the right door is opened, the left is simultaneously released. When the right door is shut it forces the throw bolts on the left door to extend into the wood frame at the top and bottom, securing both doors shut. Size: 31.5" wide. 11.25" deep, 47.5" tall on casters. Model 340. Most examples of this form I've seen are 34" wide, this one is 31.5" Great size for fitting in many spots within the home. Push button handle and wavy glass. Two adjustable shelves w/ the 8 original metal shelf support pins. Very good condition. Oak is undamaged and in clean condition. Sturdy w/out any looseness. Very minor wear to the dark fumed finish. Of course there are some minor issues.there is a seam separation on the top. And a slight offset seam at the top of the right slab side panel. Looking at it from the back, the plywood panel is rough along the right edge w/ some chipping and missing veneer(touched up) Some glue blocks under the base were missing and have been replaced. Hammered copper pulls with locking doors. These pulls are patterned from the original designs of Gustav and Leopold Stickley. This is the same cast copper hardware that has been re-issued by the Stickley company. Antique Mission Quartersawn Oak Hale/Macey Barrister Bookcase
Great old barrister. All oak in original finish. Good patina. Some alligatoring on one shelf inside. Measures 34 1/2 wide. 12" deep and 45 1/2" tall. Bottom shelf is tallest at 14 1/4" and is labelled Macey 912. Top one carries a Hale label and is 10 1/2" tall. Center one is the same as top but is unsigned. I am certain it too is Hale. Bookcase is banded with what appears to be copper and a hammered/leopard appearance. The two top sections were scissored at one time. Hooks are there. Metal scissors are not. Glass doors do move properly despite this. All glass appears to be original. There is some warping of the wood panels in the back. Just a sign of age and has no affect on appearance or performance. mission lamp and bookcase,very unique,one of a kind
this unique piece of furniture is a one of kind. I have checked every book ever printed with pictures and have found nothing, i have and you can check the web for the same. its about 57 inches high and has one door that opens up with 3 shelves inside. i have added several pictures. the first picture shows the item as i got it.without the top. from folks that have seen something similar, i added a beveled piece of wood and hooked up a brass rod for a lamp to be attached.one side of the item shows those things(i don't know what they are called)so that the pieces can be connected without screws. another picture shows what the item looks like with the door open, the top piece has been added.and one of the pictures shows the back of the item. you will see a small hole and a square opening below the small hole. when i got it, there was a screw ... moreinside the structure and implanted in the small hole. i took this screw to a hardware store to find out what kind of screw it was. They told me it was for an electrical wire to go thru. inside, not shown was a horizontal piece with a hole in the center, so with this information, i felt that the electrical post went inside thru the hole in the piece of wood and that electrical post was the post that held the bulb and the shade. The electrical cord which would of gone thru the electrical post also went outside the structure and thats why the hole is there,because the electrical cord would of have to be plugged in.I also found out that if you notice that there are openings on the sides and on the front of the structure too, these openings are for decoration only. they could of been used for something else, but i can't figure out what. i am not sure whether this means anything, but i saw this piece in a home in which i bought it 30 years later. and the home is situated in the Hyde Park area where there are many mission style homes and a frank lloyd wright home,the same area where President Obama owns a residence.whether this piece is a frank lloyd wright piece or another famo

c1909 Globe-Wernicke Stacking Mission Style Bookcase
Welcome! Well what can I can about this wonderful antique bookcase? First of all I will tell you this is all original and it has all three of its original label on each section of this stacking bookcase and they are also in nice condition. This was made by the Globe-Weniche Company c1906 and each piece stacks on top of each other. There are 5 pieces all together. There is one drawer on the bottom then the three individual glass front book cases and a top section that holds them all together. So you see this comes totally apart for easy transporting to your home. This is in a mission style as you can see that from the knobs and the hardware on the bottom drawer. The wood is very dark and as I am not an expert on these things I am not sure what kind of wood this is? The varnish on this item has crackled a bit from age so you can see it is all ... moreoriginal and has not been touched. There are a few scratches here and there but could be easily touched up. I think for being over 100 years old this is in very nice condition. This is a fine antique and it could be used for your many books or even for a nice vintage collection of anything you might like to display. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Great piece of Arts and Crafts furniture by Shop of the Crafters. Has a large middle door and 2 small side doors. Signed with partial early paper label on back shown in picture 11. It is large measuring 88" tall. 43" wide and 17" at its largest depth. It does come with a key. Issues: 1. At one pont this bookcase had been painted white. It has been refinished but you can see in photos there is still some small white paint residue inside it and in the inlaid parts, please refer to photos. 2. The very top of the bookcase has warped a little and cracked some shown in pictures 7& 8. 3. The very bottom right of the large door has a crack in the wood shown in picture 9. 4. The 2 bale pulls for the small side doors are missing but the large middle door has its bale pull. 5. The top right square is missing its small glass piece ... morebut I'm having one cut for it so will have a glass piece their when picked up. 6. It comes with one original shelf but the rest are not original to the bookcase. They were cut to fit this bookcase though shown in the last picture. Has other normal wear from age as well. The bookcase is made of solid quarter-sawn white oak, and features metal alignment bands on each section. The top section is 12" tall(9 1/2" usable inside) and the bottom sectionis 14" tall(11 1/2" inside) Overall the bookcase is 34" wide, 12" deep, and 40 1/2" tall. Old Arts&Crafts Mission Oak Small Bookcase, thru slab with pegs
Up for auction today is this old Arts&Crafts Mission Oak bookcase. It measures 33 1/2" in height by 27" in total width. It measures 13 1/4" at the foot by 9" at the rounded top. The shelves go through the sides and are pegged with tapered half round pegs. There are no makers marks that I have found. This has an old varnish finish but I don't know about being original. I think not.The siderails are a full 1 1/8" thick. The top shelf is 8 15/16" deep, center is 9 3/4" deep and the bottom is11 1/8" deep with a small bumper board on the back edge. There are the normal nicks and dings and scratches from use and there are 2 splintered off areas on the siderails, see picture6&9. There is also some splintering at the feet see picture 8. There is a slight darkening at the feet as you would get from ... moremopping the floor around it. The white that you see in picture 4 is from the varnish being scraped. Condition Report Great patina with lots of character. There are rings on some of the shelves from its use throughout its life. Antique Globe wernicke Barrister stacking unit. 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep. The section has no breals, splits or repairs. I=The section has all the door hardware and scissor mechanism ans opens with ease. The door has the original brass knob. The section also has the original antique wavy glass and bands around the base of the section. The back is in excellent condition with no rippling or warping of the wood.
