The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. The two boards on the top are good and strong. It is a little dirty but will clean up nicely. Pictures will show you views of this item. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. Really neat piece in as found condition. I’ve tried to show condition. Some stains, piece of wood missing off the back, felt pads loose. It still displays very well, is super solid with nice dove tail construction. It would benefit from a cleaning but I like the used look! It is 9 3/8” tall, 12” deep, and 7 3/8” wide. The overall dimensions are 17 1/4" wide. 28" deep and 51 3/4" high. The inside dimensions of each drawer are 12"wide. 10" high and 24" deep. This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. Very nice pair of Globe-Wernicke file boxes from Cincinati. Ohio. They are solid oak; very heavy! Measures 16x 7.25 x5.5" Holds 3 x 5 cards. The spring back card holders work fine; one of the handles on the front is a little marred; maybe melted celluloid plastic? These are circa 1900 and are great accent pieces for an office. Light sratches; also an old wax mark as to who they were sold to long ago. The name can probably be rubbed out. The paper labels are clean and visible when you take the drawers out. They read: Finish Number 3815 1/2 Light Oak; Catalog Number WG-13516. This is a VERY cool little industrial oak cabinet. I hate to let it go. But i have too much stuff! There are a few blemished as seen in the pictures but everything works fine. the drawers have solid bottoms, all of the pulls are there and match. 1900-1915 Globe Wernicke Quarter Sawn Oak Stacking Bookcase Section that has the banded sides and is all original with original sticker in the back Pattern 113 grade 299 Standard E 13 1/2 unit Globe Wernicke Co. It is approx 13 1/2" deep 34" wide and 15 1/2" tall. The original glass is good. The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. The two boards on the top are good and strong. It is a little dirty but will clean up nicely. Pictures will show you views of this item. It is a Globe Wernicke four drawer library card file cabinet. It is made out of quarter sawn oak and appears to have the original finish. The cabinet is 9 1/4" tall x 17" deep x 14" wide. Lovely early 1900's Globe wernicke stacking quartersawn oak bookcase. 3 stacking units with a seperate contour top and contour base for a total of 5 pieces. Bookcase is stained black. All sections labeled Globe Wernicke Grade 297 which is quartersawn figured weathered oak. All sections have original bands around each unit. Each section has original brass knob on door, and each section has original antique wavy glass. All doors open easily and have original scissor mechanisims. ANTIQUE MACEY NO. 25 BARRISTER BOOKCASE & OAK DESK - GLOBE WERNICKE TYPE STACKER
I have a rather hard to find Macey Bookcase with drop front desk. Desk is in need of restoration. Lid is cuped and will not close easily, someone drilled a small hole below the lock, I assume it was to aid in opening the lid. Interior with all the shelves is in good order, one of the lid arms is missing, veneer is missing on the bottom part of the lid. Desk top is made to have additional bookcases stacked on top. Unit measures 44 inches tall by 34 1/4 inches wide by 16 3/4 inches at its deepest point. Bookcase area is 12 inches deep by 13 inches tall and about 32 wide inside measurement. Door is probably not the right one but I think it could be made to work, It is wide enough but looks like it is about 3/4 inches too short, if you added a small piece across the top it would probably work. Not sure how the slides work. Has nice pillars on ... morethe front, all in all its a pretty neat old piece and deserves to be brought back, hope someone out there can do it.
