There are a few minor pieces of molding missing, one keyhole cover is missing, and is in good overall condition for being 130 years old. It has panel sides, carved columns, multi-molded edge on the breakfront and carved pillars. It is an impressive bookcase with a few minor issues. I am selling an solid wood antique book case with carved claw feet. It was my grandmother's and was given to me when she passed away. I love this bookcase but I have no where to keep it and it has been sitting in storage since it was given to me. It is probably mahogany but maybe walnut. It is has two glass doors and locks. I should have the key. It has cast iron spoon shaped shelf pins which from what I have researched are from the early 1900's. There is a ding on the outside of the right door which is visible in the pictures and it is missing the door pull but is in good condition given its age. It would look absolutely stunning if refinished. It has beautiful carved details both on the doors and on the feet. Really a very lovely piece. It has a burl walnut veneered top with drawer having molding and a carved grapes pull. Below are arched glass doors with locks and a key that operates both locks. At the case corners it has carvings and the case sits on a nicely molded base. There are six adjustable shelves inside with extra supports. The finish has a nice patina and is in very good condition. The top with the drawer comes off and the doors come out for moving. It is complete, all original and will give many more years of service. Purchased in the 1980's at a nearby Antique and Collectible show. The Larkin Desk has seen only light use as its tall attractive form stood decorating a wall over the past many years. Larkin Desks were made from around 1890 until 1915. They came in many different styles from most basic to ornate. This one offers many fine features. Has a beveled mirror top center and two small corner pedestal candle shelves either side. Embossed scrollwork adorns rounded top. Scrollwork embellishment on slant-top fold-up front of desk. Opens up flat supported by hinges either ... moreside. Desk organizing compartments inside includes small pull out drawer. Bookcase below offering two shelves for a home library. Glass doors open and close smoothly keeping books dust-free. A small lock on bottom shelf secures one of the doors. The other closes with little effort. As can be expected with most antiques. There are always a few issues from time and use. Items to note with this Larkin: there is gray spotting on the beveled mirror. Also, the pull knob on front of desk is loose and interior lock is missing. Left side hinge is replacement, not original, and two small dividers missing from inside compartments. Also has a very minor cosmetic corner repair located right side mid-section, see pics. Desk is of a nice weight. Made of oak, stained a toasty warm medium brown. WALNUT CABINET Antique Cupboard GLASS DOORS Bookshelf BOOKCASE Wood DISPLAY CASE
An antique Walnut Cabinet with Glass Doors on the front. With both shelf and drawer space, circa 1850. We are pleased to present this antique Walnut Cabinet for your consideration. It features four adjustable shelves in the interior(plus one at the bottom that is not adjustable) In addition. There are two drawers at the bottom. The shelves are protected behind two glass doors, which makes this piece ideal for use as a display cabinet or book shelf needing dust protection for the contents. Ornate wood trim is found over the upper portions of both doors. The shelf adjustment system is shown as an inset to our picture#5. A small board fits into slots found at the front and back. The board then provides support for the shelf above. The two large doors have a locking mechanism. But the key appears built in. It does not look like it is original ... moreto the piece. The trim plate on the lock is free to spin around, but in good physical shape(it needs to be secured with a couple of small nails) The two lower pieces of glass show substantial"ripple" Typical of antique glass production. It is much less obvious on the upper two pieces, and we guess that they were replaced more recently. The trim over the upper glass has some splits and shade differences, suggesting repairs or replacements have been made. The drawers at the bottom appear to have their original hardware. Each has a large lock mechanism in the center. But we do not have the matching key. Handles are quite heavy and substantial, with large ornate plates behind the handles. The fronts of the drawers are covered with a beautiful Birds Eye Maple veneer, which shows some small chips around the edges. Dovetail joints are found at the front, with more of a box style joint found at the back(see pictures#8 and#9 for close up detail) The Cabinet measures 78 inches high(68 inches exclusive of the trim piece at the back edge of the top. 8' ANTIQUE RENAISSANCE REVIVAL WALNUT BOOKCASE CABINET GLASS DOORS CARVED SHELLS
Here is a gorgeous solid walnut Empire Revival bookcase from about 1880. Only two shelves are shown in the photos. However, there are four removable/adjustable shelves. The lock sets are original in the door and drawers and there are two keys which both. Easy to transport and to break down and set up. This bookcase has the base, the crown and then, basically, a stack of wood to include the two glass doors. Height to the top = 92" Height to top of base = 16 3/4" Depth at base = 20 1/2" Depth at center of bookcase = 13 1/2" Width at the top = 57" Width at base = 51" This beautiful and unusual bookcase came out of a well known estate here in Charleston. It is in ready to use condition.and in antique condition. The hinges are original and the screws to attach to case piece are replaced and those on the doors are ... moreoriginal. There is a repair on the front left hand corner of the base.the ledge that hangs over 6 1/2" There are a few very old veneer repairs. All in all.this piece has been in the family storage for many years and it is about time that someone gets to use and enjoy it again in its splendor! I will ship anywhere! Please view.
