Has metal brackets at each end. These measurements are exact and they are: Wide- 34" x 10 1/2" Deep x 3 1/8" Tall. I took these pictures in both the shade and full sun so you could see both the finish and patina. Unfortunately the Globe Wernicke paper label is missing but I know for a fact this is a Globe Wernicke top and I will stand behind that 100% If you know the number and finish please let me know and I'll post the information so everyone can see. I have given you( 18) pictures to look at. Please take a moment and Enlarge my pictures so you can see everything clearly. As for the condition I would say it's good. Very solid. Originally the previous owner had a paper label on this( right side) where the front curves down and I removed it. You can see this in my 1st picture. There is a little nick on the left side and this is NOT a big deal but has to be mentioned. Finally on the left side front the veneer has just started to come up. Again this is not a big deal but has to be mentioned. If I was to use this myself I would keep it as it is. Take a look at my pictures and judge for yourself. Pair Antique Globe Wernicke Barrister Lawyers Quartersawn Oak Bookcases
Lovely pair of early 1900 barrister bookcases. Both are 72 inches tall. 34 inches wide and 9 1/2 inches deep. Both are grade 299 solid quartersawn oak and both have a desireable draw in the base. Both have bands and brass knobs on all sections and antique wavy glass. One top has extensive damage to it but cannot be seen because it is so tall. I took a photo of it. It could use to have the top part replaced but I left it alone. Backs are in good condition. All sections are labeled with the Globe wernicke labels. A great addition for a library or office. Paypal. I bought the set about 20 years ago in an antique store so I don't know any actual history, but the hardware and small brass knobs on the doors seems to be original. Each door has beveled glass and the brass strappings on the ends are in good condition. There are labels from the manufacturer on the back wall of each shelf, some more faded than others due to age. The overall height, including the base, is 82 inches. Each case is 11 1/2 inches deep, 34 1/2 inches wide and is 13 1/2 inches high. The set is pictured in my home and as is evident in the photos. Up for auction is this WHOLE lot of barrister bookcases. Bookcase and file sections, doors, tops, and parts. these all came from the same estate and were in a big jumbled pile when I got them. I've matched them up the best I could into three whole bookcases plus some leftover doors, pieces, and sections. All sections except one are Globe Wernicke or Macey(the other is a Humphrey Widman) and all/most sections are oak, maybe a couple mahogany(or oak with a really dark patina) Most sections have doors, most doors have glass. Two Antique Globe Wernicke Barrister / Lawyer's Bookcases NO RESERVE
NO RESERVE AUCTION This is another beautiful find from my warehouse clean out. Its two Barrister or Lawyers bookcase made by Globe Wernicke. I believe they're from the 40's or 50's but I may be wrong. They are made well as most things were from this time period. They are made with beautiful wood with wood framed glass doors. I do not know what kind of wood this is. Furniture is not my forte. Those of you reading this likely know more about them than I do. They are 33" wide and 13" deep. Each one is 14 3/4" tall making them 29 1/2" tall together. This piece is in beautiful vintage condition. The only issues I see is the paint on top of one cabinet(see pic) and they have different knobs. It does look like someone reattached some of the glass trim but none are missing. Here’s an outstanding pair of matched size Globe Wernicke lawyer bookcases in beautifully figured quarter sawn oak. These are from my mother's estate. She bought these at a sale at an attorney’s office here in Michigan in the mid 60’s(I loaded them in my truck and delivered them to her home) Each stack measures 57 ½’ high. 34” wide, and 11” front to back. The top piece is 12 1/8” front to back) Labels in the left stack read– top to bottom– 108-299 ½. 110-299, D10 ¼-299, D10 ¼-299. Right Stack reads– 108-299 ½, 110-299, D 10 ¼-299, 10 ¼-299. These great bookcases are in my opinion very good condition. They’re probably close to 100 years old. So obviously there may be a few nicks or scuffs to be expected. The interior has wear and scuffs as would be expected from taking heavy law books in and out. All ... morehave the original wavy glass and I have cleaned and polished all the original brass knobs. The metal side bands are discolored– not sure what original color was– looks like it could have been a brass color metallic paint. The figural grain on the quarter sawn oak is great, as well as the patina, which is only obtained through age. These are PICK UP ONLY at my home in Fenton. Michigan 48430. I also have 16 additional sections from this same group, as well as two tops(1 damaged) that I will be listing as I can get to between the house remodeling that I’m in the middle of. STUNNING QUARTERSAWN OAK GLOBE WERNICKE BARRISTER STACKABLE BOOKCASES W/DESK
Up for bid is an extremely nice set of"Globe Wernicke" stackable Barrister bookcases and desk. Standing approximately 5' high as seen in the pictures. Each bookcase unit is 34" wide by 10-1/2" high. This set includes six bookcase units/sections, two drawer and feet sections, two top crown units/sections and a desk unit with key. The desk, hardly used is a bit stiff when laying the door or desktop open and flat, but it does lay flat with pressure while writing, say a note, letter or bill. The bookcases are a size"D-299" I'm told, the most sought after. The legs on the desk are not original, and although replaced some years ago, the finish and how they were attached to the face of the desk and drawer front below, not knowing, you'd never be able to tell. We acquired this piece from a private party, ... morewho said it was her grandfather's, and although she had no interest in the fact it was an antique nor that it did not hold any sentimental value with her, she simply took it and used it some 30-40 years ago, because she needed a place to keep things and a surface to write upon. For sale are three(3) antique barrister bookcase modular STACKS. With"lift and slide" glass doors. Each bookcase is stack of six(6) modular sections that rest on top of each other, sitting on a foundation"base" frame, and completed with a crowning"capital" frame. The photos show the complete bookcases and details. The approximate dimensions are(L) x(W) x(H) Base frame: 3' x 1' x 2.5" Bottom modular section: 3' x 1' x 16" Middle modular section: 3' x 1' x1' Capital frame: 3' x 1' x 3" TOTAL height is approximately 81.5" or 6.79' I'm not an antique professional. However, the cases were examined and we were told they may be real Globe Wernicke, or crafted in the same style. The bookcases are quite nice, appear old, are dark wood, some modules have mitered ... moreglass, all are without labels. We inherited them from a friend who passed away that was a lawyer. This collection of bookcases is interesting because the top capitals are fashioned to come together forming an"L" shape to accommodate a corner. Known Flaws: One bookcase stack. The lower modular section needs glass replacement, and its middle section some repair work to the glass door frame. Another stack is also missing the glass from the lower modular section. The lawyer didn't mind and purchased the cases this way. We have all parts given to us, meaning small pieces of hardware, which are few. There is also gentle wear and markings expected with furnishing of this sort. Over all, very good. The bookcases are beautiful. Will keep your books dust free, and will compliment any home or office. We're full to capacity and would be happy knowing someone else can use them. Make a reasonable offer. and they can be yours. Los Angeles local pick-up is preferred. You're bidding on TWO extremely rare Globe Wernicke"ideal" model barrister bookcases. These rarely come on the market. You can find"ideal" parts on Ebay(like handles and knobs) But the bookcases themselves almost never show up on Ebay. These"Ideal" cases are made of deep rich mahogany and have hand-carved designs. Beautiful beveled glass doors work perfectly. All original"Ideal" knobs. Handles and labels. See photos. Each bookcase has three"Ideal" stacks. Used Globe Wernicke Barrister Bookcase. Heavily used with lots of scratches and bruises but overall in good structural shape. It is missing 1 small screw& bushing that the door rest on! It has had 3 pieces of glass installed recently! The wood strips that hold the glass in has been pieced together. Needs new wood strips to make it original! Two D10 sections, One D8 section, One D12 section. This piece is for sale locally and ad will be pulled in event that it sells locally! Sold as is!
