For your consideration is a gorgeous. Quarter sawn, I believe tiger oak barrister or lawyer bookcase with a beautiful base. All original finish and glass. It maintains it's original brass side bands which have darkened with age. This piece has 3 sections which are larger than a lot of barristers, therefore this particular one can accommodate larger books. The first section will accommodate 12" in height books. The 2nd 9" and finally the 3rd will hold 11 1/2" in overall height books. Dates to the late 1800"s. We purchased this 25 years ago at a wonderful antique shop in rural Ohio. early 20th century oak Barrister's bookcase section, NR
This is one section of a barrister's bookcase which dates from the late 19th century or early 20th. It came along as an unsuitable addition to a barrister's bookcase that I bought for myself. And since it did not actually fit that bookcase I naturally separated it, and now have no use for it. So it's offered here starting low and with no reserve, cause it's just taking up space and I want it out of here. Note that this is a pickup only item, since it would be a lot of work to ship it for not much money. The bookcase is 30" wide by 16" deep. The piece is made of Walnut with Burled trim. The Cathedral style front glass panels are original to the piece as well I believe. This piece has been in my parents home for the last 60 to 70 years. The piece dates back to the 1860's/70's. It is in very nice used condition. I would assume the bookcase was refinished at some point, most likely by my mother. There are two doors which open from the center and a drawer at the bottom which slides out. Antique Late 1800s Refinished "Weis" Solid Oak 2-Drawer Card File Case.
Beautiful antique golden solid quartersawn oak card file storage box. Made by the Weis Manufacturing Company of Monroe. Michigan in the late 1800s. The Weis label shows some wear but is readable. This case measures 15 1/4" wide x 15" deep x 6 3/8" high. The drawers measure 6 3/4" wide x 14 1/4" long x 5 1/8" high. Inside drawer measurements are 6" wide x 13" deep x 2 3/4" sides) high. The outer box constructed of 5/8" thick oak and uses the barefaced housing joint in assembly for strength. Drawer fronts are also oak and the drawers themselves are constructed of beech or birch. Please note that the pulls on the front do not match each other. That was how it was found. Original rubber feet on bottom to prevent marring furniture and keeps box from sliding around. Box was refinished with several ... morecoats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand-polished with 0000 steel wool and paste-wax to a soft luster. Levers on adjustable metal holders are missing. But still stay in place when moved. All joints are solid. No cracks or splits in the wood. Some scratches and marks from age. No reserve! The Weis Binder Company was launched in the 1800s in Toledo. Ohio by the Weis brothers. Later it became known as the Weis Manufacturing Company and re-located to Monroe, Michigan. A factory complex was constructed between 1905-1912 in Monroe. When completed in 1912. The complex consisted of three main buildings for a total of 120,000 square feet and employed 300 people. From 1912-1963, the company produced office furniture, accessories and equipment. In 1963 the company was acquired by the Globe-Wernicke Company and from that point on their products were sold under the Globe-Weis name. 1800's inlaid ajustable bookcase ....must see
This is a 1800s antique adjustable book. This is amazing with inlaid wood not only on both sides of the shelf but also dancing girls in the center. The sides have fish and maple leafs, and one end side has a gal and the other has a guy. One fish head has a chip. The rest is perfect. This will sell with NO reserve. 13" long x 4.5" wide. Opens too 22" long.

~~ Here is a VERY PRETTY ANTIQUE CURIO/ BOOK SHELF! FOR LOCAL 06074 CT PICK UP ONLY- NO SHIPPING! Shelf was purchased from an Estate and previous owner said it came out of an early Ice Cream Shop in Litchfield. Connecticut. She had bought it many years previous. It was painted white and she stripped it and planned to refinish it in natural wood, but never did. It sat in her workshop for years after that. I purchased it from her, also with plans to refinish it and other projects kept bumping it back! So I have decided to pass it on to someone else! It is in DECENT SHAPE for having been sloppily stripped. There is some marks from stripping, a small piece of carving is missing from the front of the middle shelf. It can be fixed, replaced, or I was just going to eliminate it. The other carvings are nice ORNATE FANCY FLOWERS! It measures approximately ... more43" tall x 29" wide(32" wide overall with curve out of legs) x slightly under 10" deep. This would look beautiful done I believe it is Pine, but not 100% sure.
