Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of very highly polished brass. This barrister top is from a bookcase in an old library. It ids quite large. Measuring 41 1/4" wide and 17 1/4" deep. The finish looks original. It has some wear as shown, but I think it could be improved with some wax and time. There is some separation to the seam on the top where the veneer sections meet. Up for Sale A sturdy. Vintage Globe-Wernicke Co. Mission style Barrister Bookcase from the early 1900's that has been in my family for years. It has three glass doored sections for books(the top section is 8 1/2" high. The middle section is 10 1/4" high. And the bottom section is 12 1/4" high according to the original labels.please see photos provided) The outside dimension of the bookcase is 51"s high. 11 1/4"s deep, and 34"s wide. The glass and the metal mechanism that opens the windowed bookcase sections is all original and in working order. The base has feet. Antique Globe wernicke Barrister stacking unit. 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep. The section has no breals, splits or repairs. I=The section has all the door hardware and scissor mechanism ans opens with ease. The door has the original brass knob. The section also has the original antique wavy glass and bands around the base of the section. The back is in excellent condition with no rippling or warping of the wood. It fits with all globe D sizes and macey sections. Reaal nice dark quartersawn oak finish. No surprises. I would prefer local pick up but would look into shipping. First and foremost I am not a collector or knowledgable of this type of item. Please look closely at photos and ask questions if needed. I can send additional photos upon request. This is for one antique Globe-Wernicke set of two bookcase/cabinet pieces. Top and the bottom piece. What you see in the pic is what you get. The cabinet on the top does have the label. It reads" Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase Made in Cincinnati Standard D-10 1/4 unit pattern 110 grade 598 1/2. The bottom cabinet piece does not have a label/ makers mark but it is identical to the top. The hardware looks fairly old. Does show age and wear. There are scratches and scuffs on wood. I would refinish it unless you like the look. Glass is chip and crack free. Cabinets open and close with ease. A very pretty piece that was in my Uncle's farm estate I inherited ... morethat I need to down size. Again not a collector so please ask questions if needed. ULTRA RARE GLOBE WERNICKE DESK WITH BOOKCASE AND DRAWER BASE IN SOLID QUARTERED OAK AND EXCEPTIONAL ORIGINAL CONDITION With the highest compliments we could possibly pay to any piece we are thrilled to offer you one of two hundred ever made by the Globe Wernicke Company slant lid desk with a model D-12 1/4" bookcase mid section and matched Globe Wernicke drawer base. Only a small handful of these ever survived. This model was owned by the Bethlehem Steel Company and used as a then start of the art portable office for various clerical employees duties when their jobs required their moving around the massive plants' building and grounds. The entire desk is in a mint model 299 original finish. Please excuse the shade on the piece in our pictures. The shadows cast by the shade did not appear so pronounced in the camera's picture ... morereview. In ingenuity of this desk's design by Globe Wernicke is in its portability. The front French flared legs are fastened by two braces on each side. They come right off and the desk breaks down into three pieces for ease of move. This is absolutely the only one of these we have ever seen much less sold. The last one even close that has surfaced was in England and in birch with a glaringly average refinishing job. Virtually the only place you can see this desk is in the old Globe Wernicke product catalogs. This is a rare double wide colonial barrister that comes apart for a total of 6 seperate pieces. The wood is Mahogany and is grade 598 1/2 the finest they made. The doors open and slide into the bookcase to protect the bookcases. This bookcase came from the library at Marymount college after it was closed.
