Here is a fine very late 19th century mostly solid walnut and very tall at 8 and 1/2 feet bookcase. I love the simple architectural features of the carved arches over each glass door which combines the look of solid walnut and It would be fantastic in a library setting or even as a display cabinet as working locksets are being replaced as I write this so both doors will easily lock. It is perfect for the room a the top of a narrow stairwell as it dismantles and sets up very easily. The base with the two drawers is the first level to set up. This base section retains the original porcelain castors. Each of the side panels is screwed to a rear panel. It is easiest to handle these steps like this. Add one side and then the other. Then the center piece for the shelves slips in. Add the shelves and the front center piece to Which each of the doors ... morewill lock. Add the crown and then it is time to hang the doors. The left door top hinge has been moved to a lower point on the door at some point. This is shown close up in the photos. Antique Walnut Victorian era Triple Section Bookcase/ Display Cabinets with Burled Accent columns. c. 1880's. This Display Case has 3 individual sections and has an approx. weight of 300 lbs. It stands 80" high x 72" iwde x 19" deep. There are a total of 10 adjustable solid Maple shelves. The dimensions of the 2 side sections are 10" deep and 18 3/4" in length. There are 4 shelves in each. The center section shelves are 10" deep and 25 1/4" long. The top of the center section has a removable scrolled wing crown. This same scrolled wing motif is repeated on the apron of the center section just beneath the dovetailed Burl clad drawer with a massive Brass lion's head drawer pulls and a Brass key escutcheon. The center section has substantial rope mouldings and intricately carved griffins with acanthus ... morescrolls above the center door. Each of the 2 side sections have Burled Walnut turned columns and bottom panels with concave fluted mouldings. Fleur-de-lis and acanthus panels. Acanthus carvings and Brass key escutcheons are found on the doors and on the bottom drawer. The Glass in all 3 sections is the original wavy Glass. All locks work and the overall condition is superb. I displayed my Antique Billiard Book Collection for many years and then displayed my Antique Billiard Trophy Collection. It has a burl walnut veneered top with drawer having molding and a carved grapes pull. Below are arched glass doors with locks and a key that operates both locks. At the case corners it has carvings and the case sits on a nicely molded base. There are six adjustable shelves inside with extra supports. Heavy pieces anymore, due to the difficulty moving them, but this piece spoke my name and"followed me home" This is a fantastic English Carved Walnut 2 piece Bookcase that is 9 feet long x 21" deep x 87" tall. This cabinet weighs approximately 400 lbs, and we take the doors off top and bottom, which helps make it manageable. Please note the carved figural columns on the base section, as well as the lions heads carved into the pilasters and doors. The top section has fluted Corinthian columns on each end with nice shield carvings in the top doors. The center 3 doors are leaded beveled glass. The center door opens to a narrow display area, measuring 17.5" wide x 14.5" deep x 41.5" tall.
