It features 2 shelves and sits atop coasters so that it can be rolled about. The top shelf goes through the piece entirely while the bottom shelf is divided in 2 equal size shelfs on each side of the piece. It is in excellent condition and is quite sturdy and ready to use. It does have some light surface scratches but nothing that would not be expeceted of a vintage piece of this age. It can also be used as a table so it can serve more than one purpose. It stands 26 inches tall and the top measures 26 1/2 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches deep. The middle shelf measures 22 inches by 14 inches. Vintage Wheeler & Wilson 1892 D-9 bookcase front sewing machine
This is a VERY RARE bookcase/treadle sewing machine. It has a glass mirror and book case with books that show either Irving or Scott as authors. This is a 1892 Wheeler Wilson model D-9 we believe in original condition with original finish(we inherited from our parents who were Collectors) It is a parlor type cabinet with storage shelves behind the hinged book case door. It has the key for the lock and the oak accessories box with the attachments that has a handwritten note taped inside dated 1944 with the owner's name stating this machine is one of only 6 originals for this cabinet type. Based on the note's claim of rarity we searched for fair pricing and found no recent past history(actually no past sales period) and very little descriptive information. We did find one reference to The Encyclopedia of Early American Sewing Machines ... morelisting this particular machine in their"Rare" category defined as"only 6 to 25 surviving examples. We must emphasize this has not been verified but hopefully the source is accurate. The cabinet is in excellent condition and appears to be original finish. Only one small flaw on the bottom right corner of the top. Auction is for three very vintage industrial iron cubbies. Each has 24 cubbies and weighs about 22 pounds. Any rust you see is surface rust. I would have removed it but thought a buyer might actually like it. As yardstick shows. Each section is about 34 inches wide and 15 inches tall. You can stack all three as a wall unit or hang the three separately or use two as a table base. Condition is imperfect as shown. One unit has a couple of bends on the horizontal label section as well as a couple of banged up cubby walls. Again. All rust is surface rust and there is no effect on the integrity of the units. The rear of one unit(shown top right corner of photo 3) has a crease on top rear corner where it may have pulled from a wall at some point. This can be flattened again but it will take some work. From an estate sale. A 5-section barriester bookcase with base and top. The top 3 sections are regular bookcases, the bottom two sections each have 3 file cabinet drawers. Patent date 1917. Overall outside dimensions are 41.5" wide, 17" deep, and 79" tall. The inside dimensions of the bookcase shelf: 15.5" between the back and the back face of the door, 40" wide, and 10" tall to the bottom of the door when it is rolled up- that is, the*useful* height that you could fit a book in. I did some google research and couldn't find a standard size the corresponded to these dimensions. So they may be a custom unit. Very deep, but pretty short. There's nail holes on the fronts of the file drawers, looks like they used to have handles, and probably also brass frames for putting a label in. So you might want to replace ... morethose. This is a very nice Chippendale style mahogany secretary desk. The desk is complete and is in good condition with several cosmetic flaws but great structural integrity. This desk is complete with original"Genuine Mahogany" tag(photo#3) 2 paper Maddox tags and a metal Maddox shield(photo#9) The shield reads"Maddox Colonial Reproductions Jamestown, NY. The desk is complete with claw feet(photo#5) and beautiful top decoration(photo#4) There are four large drawers in the bottom part of the desk that work perfectly. The desk is quite beautiful when you put the slant top down into writing position. The writing surface is in nice condition but does have several scratches on it. There are five small drawers across the inside of the desk that are topped by 8 letter slots(4 on each side) an open center space with a door, and two hidden ... morevertical pillar drawers(photo#6) There is some damage around the knobs of the drawers and door, particular the center drawer and door, and something stuck inside one of the letter slots(see photo#7) The glass doors on the top of the desk are in very nice condition with the only visible flaw being some imperfection(retouching? in the finish at the center of the doors(photo#8) There are three shelves behind the glass doors. The top shelf has some paper stuck on three side of the back left corner(I do not know if it can be removed or what the finish looks like underneath it) and a circular scuff mark on the back in the center(photo#10) On the lower portion of both the right and left side there is some kind of residue or damage(photo#11) I do not know exactly what it is or if it can be repaired. Finally, the curved parts that stick out above the first large drawer have some damage from moving(photo#12) This desk was in the living room of my grandparent's house from the 1950's or 1960's until we recently sold the house and moved it up to New Jersey.
