The top of this etagere offers a incised carved pediment that rests between an arch. With raised carved panels of walnut accenting each side. Below is the vintage replacement mirror that is in excellent condition and measures 29 in high by 16 inches wide. Finely turned walnut spindle posts with turned finials, flank the mirror and offer support for the display shelves on each side. Below the mirror is an additional carved display shelf that is supported by a pierced carving. The largest shelf rests below the mirror and boasts of feather walnut and offers a unique small storage drawer below with early hand-cut dovetailed joints, and an open carved small gallery at the back. Outstanding Quality 19th Century Antique Victorian Flame Mahogany Bookcase Display cabinet in all original condition. The very elegant& tall Bookcase cabinet has a deeply moulded Flame mahogany cornice which rises above a pair of original Victorian Glazed book display doors. Revealing once opened a series of adjustable book shelves, the original brass lock and a working key. The display cabinet rises above the conforming and original lower section. It has a burl walnut veneered top with drawer having molding and a carved grapes pull. Below are arched glass doors with locks and a key that operates both locks. At the case corners it has carvings and the case sits on a nicely molded base. There are six adjustable shelves inside with extra supports. Best Victorian Solid Cherry 3-Section Bookcase Adjustable Shelving Orig. Finish
This auction features a stunning antique bookcase. This bookcase measures 80 inches tall measured in the center of the decorative finial. 69 inches wide, and is 21 inches deep measured to the front of the drawer. Overall very good to excellent condition. This bookcase retains the original hardware and original finish. There are three sections each with a glass door. The center and largest section has four shelves and each shelf measures 26 x 12 inches. The entire section measures 56 x 26 inches. There are two sides sections. One which has three shelves, and one with four shelves. Each one of these shelves measures 17 x 10 inches and each side section area measures 51 x 18 inches. All the shelves are made from solid cherry and are original to the piece. On the side of the shelves, it has been hand notched so one can easily adjust what height ... morethey want the shelves to be. The doors all feature the original wavy glass. And each has a locking mechanism as well as the original key. The back of the case has a lighter color of cherry used as a center panel, mixed with a darker more natural color on the border which presents well and really makes this piece stand out. Please note the picture of the drawer and the two additional original cherry pieces which are included. These two pieces will fit into any of the side cabinets and it is my guess that these were used so one could make either one or both of the side cabinets a place for rifle storage. Above each side cabinet. There is a nice decorative gallery area which measures 17 x 12 inches. Please note that the original mirrors have de-silvered. One can choose to replace but I think I would leave them as they are, chances are decorative items will be placed in the gallery and the mirrors will not be seen as much. One can also choose to have them re-slivered as there are several places on-line that provide this service very inexpensively. Overall I would rate this cabinet a strong 8 out of 10 in condition. This auction is for a wonderful antique corner what not shelf. It is Victorian. Was used to display fancy glassware etc. and from the mid to late 1800's. Made of a beautiful walnut, it is of a nice weight and is sturdy. It is about 60 inches tall. It is in very good condition for its age- it does have one piece of decorative trim that is missing on the upper left(see photos) This could be replaced or you could probably remove the decorative trim from both sides if you want to even it up. It has been crafted from burr walnut and smothered in the most exquisite floral marquetry decoration. This bookcase was the work of a master craftsman as the profuse marquetry has been brilliantly executed. It has two glazed doors on top for displaying your favourite books or ornaments. And it retains the original green velvet lining to the interior, the two panelled doors below are ideal for storage, and there are two useful drawers in the centre. The satiny finish is in superb condition on this American made antique furniture. The barrel shaped rolltop has book matched burl and glides smoothly open. Inside are small cubicles and drawers. The writing surface with well worn red leather pulls forward. Lower drawers have original brasses and round pin and cove dovetail joints. Pieces like these are extremely hard to find and this size. This Victorian Eastlake piece is completely original, from a Hudson Valley Estate. The top features a two-door cabinet for transferware dishes, or could be used in a library for books. The glass is original wavy glass used from that time period. There are two adjustable shelves. The middle features a drop down desk complete with lock and key, original letter and paper slots, two drawers with milk glass knobs. The bottom features three drawers with original locks. Antique carved walnut escutcheon keyhole covers and stamped brass and ebonized wood teardrop finial handles. Incredible find.beautiful old Plantation Desk top. In lovely condition. Not abused, from a non-smoking home. Usually the only the bottom part of the plantation desks survive. But this complete top is in lovely, age-appropriate condition. I believe the wood is walnut with pine as a secondary wood. There is a top section that lifts that goes the entire away across with the molding. Revealing pigeon holes/cubbies. On either side of the piece are large doors.the left side has a grid of cubbies. The right side has horizontal dividers, with pretty ogee divider detail for vertical file storage. Four drawers with horizontal beaded details.they no longer have their pulls but move freely. Victorian cylinder or barrel roll- top secretary desk and bookcase - 1800's
Antique high top desk/bookcase. The top and bottom come apart at base of glass door book case. This is a warm- toned walnut wood with burled walnut panels. My parents purchsed this as an antique in the 1950's from previous elderly owners- not antique store. They did not replace any of the hardware or the glass during the time they owned it and I believe these to be the original. But have no way of telling- glass has tiny bubbles, but I don't see a wave. The desk appears to be in good condition. The top of the desk pulls out for a writing surface. The writing surface is rough on top and some of the drawers have ink stains. as mentioned- this item has pretty much been left in original state. This is a very attractive and interesting piece.
