This is a carved antique Victorian oak mirror from a side by side or bookcase cabinet. It measures aprox. 19 1/2" wide x 19 3/4" high on the left and is 18" high on the right. You will most likely want to re-finish the frame. The mirror glass is beveled but very foggy and will need to be replaced or re-silvered. As it closes poorly and the lock won't match up[its off about 3/32 or less] properly. 4 shelves[original] and original hardware too. There are some issues with the finish on the top of the case[showing a degree of"alligatoring" but I am loathe to disturb antique finishes myself, preferring someone more qualified to make things right. For your consideration, this Fabulous Large Walnut Victorian Renaissance Revival Breakfront Bookcase with Cabinet Base and Carved Crown(Circa: 1870) This lovely and most unusual Victorian Bookcase has an approximate total weight of 190 pounds and measures 100 ¼” in total height, 63” in width, and 16 ½” in depth. A total of three adjustable, removable shelves are found in this phenomenal Bookcase. The dimensions of the three adjustable shelves are 10” in depth by 50 ¼” Please note that this piece will break down into three pieces for transport(top, bottom, crown) Elegant details found on this Fabulous Large Walnut Victorian Renaissance Revival Breakfront Bookcase with Cabinet Base and Carved Crown(Circa: 1870) The lovely top is graced with crown moulding along with a beautiful ... moreremovable spade scrolled center crown. This beautiful spade scrolled center crown is adorned with incised carvings. A large carved rosette roundel in the center that is flanked on each side with raised burl panel accents and smaller rosette roundels. Lovely raised triangular-shaped panels and small rosette roundels adorn the top area above the geometric shaped glass doors. You will note that there are four individual panes of glass that make-up these two doors and there is a small crack in the left top corner of the lower right pane. We chose not to replace this pane because the glass is original to the piece and it does not impact the structural integrity or the beauty- it simply adds character. The two lower panes are original whereas the two upper panes may have been replaced at some point in time. Each of the lovely bookcase doors are adorned with picture-frame moulding. The right door has an intact lock with a fancy brass key escutcheon. A decorative(non-working) key in included to assist in opening the doors. To start with. I have had this bookcase for about 10 years and never finished it till recently and never intended to sell it. Now the time comes to move to another home and there is no place that will accommodate it hence it has to go. It's a killer piece and makes a room aglow. Made of rosewood and rosewood veneer the quality is great. Four bolts and a few screws hold the whole thing together. Simply take screws out of the two back panels and then unbolt the bolts and it comes apart into nine individual pieces for ease of transport. Very strong attribution to JW Meeks of NY as you look at the construction and carvings. Super carved crest tops this magnificent example of American furniture history.
