It is approx 13 1/2" deep 34" wide and 15 1/2" tall. The original glass is good. The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. The two boards on the top are good and strong. It is a little dirty but will clean up nicely. Pictures will show you views of this item. The brackets come available in all the possible finishing combinations offered by the factory with the units when they were originally built and sold(please 3rd photo down in left hand column) The C/D combo unit bracket is approximately 3" overall length and 7/8" width. Early 1900's stacking oak barristers bookcase. Rare Arts and Craft grade 798 1/2 Early English Oak finish. This bookcase has a lovely mission arts and craft look. Each section is labeled with the stickers that read this finish. The bookcase is 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep and about 66 inches tall. The quartersawn oak on the bookcase is beautiful and the finish is all original. 7 seperate pieces that stack on each other. Waterfall top and base. The base has a desireable drawer on it. All sections including the drawer have original brass knobs. Each section has its original old antique wavy glass and the doors open nicely. The bands around each section are original and are the dull brass trim. The top of the bookcase is in outstanding conditions with no issues. There is only slight wear to the bookcase. It has wear and some damaged parts including the middle window is broken the bottom window has a chip out of the left front top side. I pictured a nail on the right side and a screw on the left side on the edges of the bottom larger unit. A 5 stack Globe Wernicke Grade 598 solid mahogany with rich finish barrister with brass trim. 7 pieces including the top and base. All original wavy glass with old brass knobs and bands around each section. Each section is labeled with the stickers. The bottom is a stepback unit and has an unusually big section which is labeled E. This refers to the size and is desireable at 13 1/2 inches deep and very tall. Can accomodate large law books. Photo albums and collectibles. There is slight wear to the top cap piece which is in one of the photos. Someone may have left a plant on top and the ring from water appeared. No damage to wood here just finish. It cannot be seen when the bookcase is together. On the base there is some wear on the right side that looks like it happened maybe 20 years ago and a 3-4 inch metal band is missing. The bookcase is made of solid quarter-sawn white oak, and features metal alignment bands on each section. U.S. Navy SSPO Lycoming Stacking Barristers Bookcase! Complete 5 sections! NICE!
Up for your consideration we have this OAK(we are pretty sure oak. It's solid wood either way) Lycoming Barristers Bookcase that used to belong to the U.S. Navy. It was used in the SSP Office or the Strategic Systems Programs Offices. The U.S. Nave tags are still on the inside and I believe the middle section may be a Globe Wernicke because it is a different color inside the cabinet and has brass number plates in the front and side of the interior of the cabinet. I just got this piece myself and was going to restore it but the wife says no more"projects" It is not all the same shade of stain but for some reason the stains blend nicely. The small sections have a dark interior stain but the larger section has a lighter interior for some reason as well. The set has 5 total pieces. The base with 6" tall legs and 10" to ... morethe top of the platform x 34" wide x 13" deep, Two"Small Box" sections at 34" wide x 14-3/4" tall x 13" deep. The"Large Box" section witch is 34" wide x 18-3/4" tall x 13" deep, and finally the top section to give it a nice capped and smooth look. There are some imperfection in this bookcase like scuffs and bumps in the stain. It would look SPECTACULAR with a little restoration work, Sanding, refinishing etc. It is in very solid sturdy condition just well used. All the doors work go up and stay in when opened. There are no problems with functionality just some small cosmetic stuff. The large section does not have pegs on the top for the next section to stack onto. It may sound like a lot but it really isn't all that much too it, It just depends on how far you would want to take it. The bookcase looks GREAT as it sits, It's not an"eyesore" it still retains all it's original grandeur and style! Most of the scuffs and bumps would at a minimum diminish with a good wood polish or oil which I may get to but it sits uncleaned in the pics. WE CAN PROVIDE SHIPPING. The bookcase is in fairly good condition although the top section is missing its glass. Without the glass the door frame has some flex to it. But will be solid once the glass is replaced. It measures 51-1/4” high. 33” wide and 13-1/4” deep. The inside sections measure 10” high. 12-1/8” deep and 31” wide. The bottom section is a little taller than the other two and measures 12-1/4” high inside. Replacement Oak Arts & Crafts Barrister Stacking Lawyer Bookcase Top Macey Globe
Original Oak Arts& Crafts/ Mission Barrister Stacking Lawyer Bookcase Top by Macey(like Globe. Ogee, etc. This is an original Macey bookcase top. This is from the quartersawn oak models(many of them had claw-footed bases and vertical veneer drawers) Very hard to find item. As you can see in photos. The label has worn off some, but you can still make out the Macey name. I am not sure what letter size this is, but the dimensions seem to correspond with size D. Overall measures approx: 34" long x 15" deep x 3 2/16" high Underside frame that fits onto the case measures approx: 34" long x 14" deep As shown in photos. This is in used condition and shows wear. The front profile looks very good for its age and should blend very well with well kept bookcases. The top veneer shows more wear than the front with discoloration, ... morenicks and scratches and some splits, but if this is an issue, you could rejuvenate it with stain and oil/ shellac/ polyurethane. If you want a uniform look, you could lightly sand the entire surface and then add stain, plus sealant. However, because this is the top of a bookshelf you will likely rest items on it to cover imperfections, or it will be so high up that no one will see it. The rest of the top looks to be in normal used condition for its age. Some nails have pushed out and may need to be gently hammered back in place(though I think I got all of them) Please examine close ups of all photos and ask all questions. Questions? Remember. Antique Barrister Bookcase 4 Stacking Bookcases With Bottom Drawer
Up for auction is a lovely antique barrister stacking bookcase. This lovely piece has 4 stacking bookcases. With one drawer on the bottom. The piece measures 34" wide, 57.5" tall, and 11" deep. All the cases slide open with ease still. One of the cases has a small chip along the edge of the glass, the chip does not go all the way through the glass however. There is normal wear and tear on this piece given the age and use, but only minor wear and scratches. I have shown various pictures of the like. There are holes drilled into the back of one of the cases with writing, it is also shown in the pictures. The drawer is missing the bottom of it as well. Let me know if there are any other questions. It is in very nice condition for it's age as shown including old metal arts& crafts style door pulls. These pulls are almost identical to the door pulls on the Limbert desk shown with this bookcase in my final three photo's.
