It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. With the top and base, this stands approximately 77"tall. The bottom section measures about 16" tall, and is about 14" front to back. The other sections are 13" tall, 11" front to back. A great piece of furniture from ca. 1930's- 1950's and perfect as a display for books or other small collectibles! Solid wood cabinet sections and shelves in a dark stain. I think the wood is mahogany but it could also be walnut? In any case. A beautiful dark color. The five stacks/sections come apart and the top/cap and the base are separate pieces so technically it breaks down into seven pieces. Thick. Original beveled glass in all five sections(sorry, the bevel doesn't show well in my pics but it's there) All original metal(probably brass) knobs in a dark. Bronze like finish. All five lift up doors work smoothly. Solid. Sturdy construction. Nice curved detail on apron beneath top. ... moreUnlike most lawyers bookcases. This one has a large lower section that adds great character! The piece is in very good condition with only age appropriate wear.on the upper section in my pics. On one side, there are two scratches. These are shallow but they do show. They could easily be restrained to match the finish and would not be noticeable all but I have left it as I bought it. Also. On the tip of the right hand upper casing, there is some minor wear where the finish has been rubbed off but this could also be re-stained pretty easily. The backs of each section and the top of the cap piece are a thinner wood. Veneer like. The wood on the top of the cap is slightly warped but still intact.when put together. The piece is so tall that you don't see the top at all and it obviously is sturdy enough to hold a bit of weight as you can see in my pics that I keep multiple pieces on display there. Assembled. Measures 68.5" high and 32.5" wide and 19.25" deep. Each of the four top sections/stacks separately measures 13.75" high. 13.25" deep and 32.5" wide. Antique 1903 STIGGLEMAN CABINET Bookcase All Original 2 Stack Globe Wernicke EXCELLENT CONDITION! From our research and the patent stamped on the case- Patent#746758 this is a 1903 cabinet from The cabinet it's self is 3 pieces Overall size is 34 1/4" wide. 12" deep, and 57 1/4" tall. Bottom cabinet is 30 1/2" tall, the top cabinet is 23 1/4" Rare to find these door to open this way, and the bottom drawers. Here are some details on Mr Stiggleman and the company. In 1891 he moved to Wabash. And there became superintendent of the Wabash Church and School Furniture Company, where he was thus employed until the corporation met with financial reversed and finally went into the hands of a receiver. During his service there Mr. Stiggleman invented a device for cutting circular pews, but he never patented it, and in similar ... moremanner he invented many improvements now in general use, which he contributed gratis to the factory of which he was the superintendent. Among his other inventions was a school desk hinge for the iron standard desk. This he patented, and he later produced another hinge, an improvement on the first, which is now being used at North Manchester and probably in other places. Mr. Stiggleman was a heavy stockholder and the vice president and manager of the Peabody-Stiggleman Company, manufacturers of school desks at North Manchester for several years, he having organized the company. He also invented a folding chair, which was in vogue for some years, and is still being produced in certain quarters. A sectional bookcase, bearing his name, was also added to the list of his inventions, and the same is now owned by a large manufacturing concern at Peru. He also invented two kitchen cabinets with sliding table tops, which are being widely manufactured. For sale is this vintage Globe Wernicke 4 section metal barrister bookcase. There are some paint scratches and a ding here and there. But it is overall in great condition. It was painted at some point(not by me) and is a beige/brown/dark gold color. It is very cool the way it is or I am sure you could change the color fairly easily with fresh paint. It measures 72" tall x 33" wide x 13" deep. The retractable doors on all sections open and close with ease and the sections are stackable. Each section has 2- 24 stacks each measuring 15" tall and 4- 22 stacks each measuring 13" tall for a total overall height of nearly 94" Not only are these 6-stacks very impressive in their stature but they are also quite difficult to find as an original unit. As mentioned these are out of a lawyers office and we have the entire office which was all purchased together originally. This auction for your consideration is an original Globe Wernicke bookcase. This piece was made in Cincinnati. Ohio around the turn of century. It measures 62 inches tall and 34 1/2 inches across. It has rolled feet and mission pulls. I think top is made of Mahogany, inside pine and outside Walnut. In very nice condition for age. 2 small pieces of wood scroll missing above both legs not a hard fix at all,I am just not qualified to repair.
