Each section is marked with the Globe Werneike trade mark. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The windows have antique wavy glass and there are NO breaks. The bookcase is a step-back bookcase- meaning the bottom section is deeper then the rest and extends forward. This is a nice feature for storing larger books. The only other detail is the rear of the bookcase it is not attractive. No explanation- it's just that way- some sections of the laminate backing have opened. We were going to give the back a coat of varnish but never did. We are no longer cleaning up furniture- we are clearing out our inventory. It reads" Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase Made in Cincinnati Standard D-10 1/4 unit pattern 110 grade 598 1/2. The bottom cabinet piece does not have a label/ makers mark but it is identical to the top. The hardware looks fairly old. Does show age and wear. There are scratches and scuffs on wood. I would refinish it unless you like the look. Glass is chip and crack free. Cabinets open and close with ease. Nice oak bookcase. 4 oak frame sliding doors. 4 adjustable wood( oak? shelves. Built like the lawyer stacking style bookcase. Has a decorative top section then the top 2 door section and then the base 2 door section. So it is a 3 part bookcase making it transportable by most mid size cars. Maybe some smaller ones too. Original finish in good shape. Does have some chips and scratches that a little tlc would improve on but very usable as is. There is a crack in one glass. Will replace as part of the sale price. Bookcase size is 37 inches wide by 57 1/2 inches tall and 14 inches deep at the base. Break down size is the base is 30 1/2 inches tall 37w 14d. Top 2 door section 24 inches tall. Offered for your bidding consideration in this auction is one Globe Wernicke mahogony four stack bookcase with drawer base. This is for only one stack of bookcases. I have enclosed a photo of a pair of bookcases but the photo is only to show the two units are perfectly matched. The two units together locked with each other is a nice feature. Give more stability. This unit has four units, two 8 1/2" units, one 10 1/4" an then one 12" unit, plus, this unit has the highly desired drawer base. Antique stackable globe wernicke lawyers bookcase. Glass doors move easily and all the"X" mechanisms work properly. This a four unit piece. And includes the base and top. The top unit is pattern 709 grade 3298 1/2. Height is about 9" Quarter sawn oak. The second piece(from the top down) is the same. The third piece down is pattern 711 grade 3298 1/2. Auction is for three very vintage industrial iron cubbies. Each has 24 cubbies and weighs about 22 pounds. Any rust you see is surface rust. I would have removed it but thought a buyer might actually like it. As yardstick shows. Each section is about 34 inches wide and 15 inches tall. You can stack all three as a wall unit or hang the three separately or use two as a table base. Condition is imperfect as shown. One unit has a couple of bends on the horizontal label section as well as a couple of banged up cubby walls. Again. All rust is surface rust and there is no effect on the integrity of the units. The rear of one unit(shown top right corner of photo 3) has a crease on top rear corner where it may have pulled from a wall at some point. This can be flattened again but it will take some work. This is a very nice five stack graduated stepback barrister quartered oak bookcase. This case was manufactured by Globe Wernicke; a competitor of Macey and some of the other bookcase makers. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This quartered oak unit retains the original Globe labels. Bookcase contains four different sizes of cases(stacks) to accommodate different size books(or whatever) This unit also has a stepback bottom unit which is deeper-quite useful. This unit has been professionally refinished and restored-a beautiful smooth and even finish. Note the'leopard' bands connecting each section. The top four sections are 11 deep and the large bottom section is 14 deep. The top section is 9.5 high. The middle two sections are 11.5 high The next section is 13.5 high.
