It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. Up for sale is a great turn of the century Wabash Cabinet Company stacking file cabinet. There are 4 pieces. a 20 drawer unit. A 3 drawer unit a cap and a base. All oak veneered with a nice aged deep patina. It is 45" high, 39 1/2" wide, 18 1/2" deep at the base and the cabinets are 15 1/4" deep. As you can see in the pictures the top has some ring marks and the side has a couple of pieces of veneer missing the bare wood has been darkened. This is in original condition with a nice rich color. One corner of the narrow drawer has been repaired and is shown in the closeup. It has normal wear and dings for a piece over 100 years old. Oak Stacking Barrister Bookcase by Mayer & Thaheimer 75" Tall Wavy Glass Nice
This is a vintage Mayer& Thalheimer of Baltimore Stacking Barristers Bookcase. It measures 75 3/8" Tall-34" Wide-9 1/2" Deep. It will accommodate a 10 1/2" tall book. Four of the Five sections have the original wavy glass. The center ones glass has been replaced at some point. The bottom section has a different Mayer& Thalheimer tag than the top sections and has a different coloration on the back as you can see so it may be a marriage though it fits perfectly. Condition is very good. I've enjoyed it for many years but am moving to a smaller home and don't have a place for it. I'm not offering shipping but can be accommodating on working out delivery.

Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. GREETINGS! This fabulous oak 60 drawer stacking library index card file was manufactured by the Yawman& Erbe Manufacturing Company Y& E of Rochester New York. The company was founded by Philip H Yawman& Gustav Erbe in 1880 and I believe this piece to be from circa 1900. It breaks apart into 12 sections of 5 drawers each plus another piece which is the top of the cabinet. It measures 59" tall at it's highest point and is 33" wide and 17" deep(18" with the handles) Each shelf measures 5 1/8" wide x 15 1/2" long x 2 1/8" to the top of the of the drawer or 3 1/2" to the top of the front of the drawer without an insert. I have inserts for each of the shelf units though so you can use them for storage without having to worry about the fact this was at one time a library card index file. It has been refinished recently. it has a serpentine base on the bottom, 3 stacking sections(bottom one is a step back) and a serpentine top. The finish is a beautiful red oak. The top was missing some of it's veneer, so it was sanded and painted brown, otherwise there is no damage, cracks or repairs. Has the original Globe Wernicke Turn Button retractor slides, works like a old roll up window shade) Signed on the base and top as shown. Measures, 46 inches tall, is 34 inches wide and on the bottom the step back sections is 11 inches deep the top 2 sections are 9 1/2 deep there are 3 bookcase sections and a top and bottom. Antique Library Oak Stacking Card File Cabinet Like Globe Wernicke And Macey #1
This auction features an antique dovetailed oak library index card file. This gem measures 16 x 14 x 10 ¼ inches and has 4 sliding drawers. Each drawer measures 14 ¾ inches in depth. 6 inches outside measurement, and the inside measurement for the file is 5 inches wide. This piece retains the original finish with just a few areas with light damage from use. Mostly a few small scratches on the top. This piece is unmarked as to the manufacturer, but similar to the Globe Wernicke or Macey models I have seen in the past. The bottom retains the original felt.
