I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. someone has requested that i list this piece. it has been at the farm house for a few decades. anyway. This is for you joe. i have always liked the rare and unusual pieces and that is what i primarily collect. i have seen this model a few times 30 years ago, but i have not seen one exactly like it sell for many years, but i don't see everything that sells, so perhaps there has been 200 sold in the last month, but from years of experience, i don't think these are very plentiful in this particular century. anyway, this is a rare form macey stack file cabinet. it a base that is 24 inches tall, 24 inches deep and 44 inches wide with 4 doors all solid quartersawn oak. inside the base or cabinet it has holes drilled for mounting one shelf across each 1/2 of the base, the base has a solid divider. anyway, i did not find the shelves when ... morei gathered this piece up. they are bound to be somewhere, if i don't find them i will make shelves to go in them. the best i remember the shelves were laminates or pine. anyway, that is a minor deal. it has two locks which secure each 1/2 of the base which i can't find the key for, but will have one made. no one has lived in the farm house for about 18 years now so the entire piece was covered in dust and dirt, enough to grow corn in. i have only cleaned it. it is presented in original finish with wonderful patina. on the base is a stack of 8 file drawers, on top of it is another, and on top of the second is two sections of files which are 4 drawers each. all the files are solid quartersawn oak. each file drawer has its original handle and each still retains its paper or file blocker or stop and the rod it slides on. the file stacks are 12 inches tall, 16 inches deep, and 44 inches wide with the exception of the top two which are the same height and depth but 22 inches each wide which of course makes the pair to fit and match at 44 inches. there is no wiggle or wobble to this piece in anyway. the joints as you can see are dovtailed on the top portion of the base and also

Dating to the 1890's. This is a killer tiger oak early office filing cabinet made by Library Bureau Solemakers. It measures 33" wide by 17" deep by 26" high. I have priced this stunning and rare sliding glass door stacking section at a very low price for a very quick sale. This will make an awesome addition to any set of stacking sectional oak files! Please note that I don't have a great digital camera. The pictures aren't so great but the actual file is 1000 times nicer in person. Its a real beauty! Keep in mind that this stacking oak sectional file is compatible with many other early office file makers such as Yawman& Erbe. Globe Wernicke. Just check the measurements. As any collector of early antique office files know. ... moreThese sliding glass door sections are very, very, very rare and extremely hard to find. They didn't make many of them in the 1890's and obviously as they are made of glass. not many of the ones they did make have survived 110+ years. The overall condition is great though it is approx 110 years old. It isn't new or perfect. No big problems, very minor and overall it is in great condition. The cabinet has very deep rich tiger graining and a beautiful golden oak tone. There is some small pieces of veneer missing along the bottom on the left side as well as some small pieces of veneer missing on the interior right side near the sliding door. Nothing major and not a big deal. The interior has numerous original holes on each side so that shelves can be installed, the doors slide perfectly and I believe that the glass is original. The door even retains its original brass knob. As the doors are glass. My preference would be a buyer who can pick up the cabinet though I am willing to ship it. If you have an antique oak sectional filing cabinet and you have been wanting to add a glass doored section you already know how rare these sections are! Well, here it is.

Made of quarter sawn oak and is marked Macey 98(see pics) The original hardware is all intact and the door works fine, glass not cracked. It looks remarkably good after only an hour of cleaning. I think it’s close to 100 years old. Some of the drawer faces and side panels are quarter sawn“tiger” oak. But many of the drawer faces have simple, straight grain. The stack is made up of 7 components. The large and small drawer sections can be stacked in any order. The photos show the components in the following arrangement: 1– Top(with Yawman& Erbe decal) 2– Card Index Section 3– Card Index Section 4– Card Index Section 5– Document File Section 6– Document File Section 7– Base The interior dimension of each small(Card Index) drawer is 15 ½” x 5 1/8” 3 ½” L x W x H) Each small drawer can hold 16 standard CD jewel ... morecases. Or 14 cases if you slant them so that you can see the titles(see photo) Each large(Document File) drawer can hold 14 DVDs. All of the large drawers are the same except for one. Which is built like most drawers, with wooden sides and back, rather than a metal frame. This door will fit most standard larger sized stacking bookcase section. The outside dimensions are 32-1/2" wide X 14" high. It is made from 3/4" thick cabinet grade oak. Custom made by a cabinet maker for restoration of an antique barrister type stacking bookcase but was never used. These replacement doors are hard to find in usable condition. Especially in this larger size. With a little stain and finish it will be ready to go in your antique bookcase. Also included but not pictured is the trim that holds the glass in place. Vintage Oak Lawyers Stacking Bookcase Door Glass and Hardware GRM Grand Rapids I sold a vintage mission lawyers bookcase awhile back and the bottom section had been damaged so I sold only the remaining sections. This is the door and hardware that was removed from the bottom unit. It is the glass door that hooks on the sides of the bookcase unit with the hardware for the sides of the bookcase itself. The bookcase it was removed from was oak so this also should be oak. The glass is in perfect condition. No chips or cracks. The knob is not original. The door is in wonderful condition and has the hooks attached on the sides as shown. It measures 32 3/8' X 13½' X 13/16' I did notice that this door is higher than the other ones were and it was on a bottom unit. I'm not sure if all the screws are there but that's what we ... morehad to remove but a screw or two is not hard to find. Some of the parts have some minor surface rust which should clean up easily. Hopefully this door will fill a need by someone who might be needing to replace a door. If not. I'm going to make a window-shelf for plants in front of a window. I don't see a maker but there is a sticker on the botton that talks about how to stack these units so this looks like it was the top piece of a sectional originally. overall it measures 7.5" tall 20" wide and 16.5" deep. Michigan, ca. 1890's is a 2 stack lawyers bookcase plus a wonderful drop front desk with all the small drawers and cubby holes. The tiger oak patterns are top of the line. The original finish is a medium dark honey oak with a great 120 year old"PATINA" that changes with the"light of day" Overall dimensions are 34 1/4" wide. 14" deep and 48" high. Inside dimensions of the desk are 32 1/2" wide, 12 1/2" high and 10 1/2- deep. The first bookcase measures 32 1/4"wide. 9 1/2" high and 10" deep. The bottom bookcase is 11 1/2" high.
